If you're a complete beginner to skiing as we were, we learnt that getting to/from the ski schools were a walk down/uphill from the residence. This was a battle carrying ski equipment, children and trying to walk in uncomfortable ski boots!
Once we had a little ski knowledge it was far easier accessing ski schools, lifts and slopes etc as you were able to whizz down the piest!
I'd therefore suggest this accommodation is perfect for experienced skiers.
Hotel facilities were faultless. The first couple of days the swimming pool was freezing but it must've been sorted as the rest of our stay it was delightful!
Highly recommend pre-booking the breakfast package which is delivered to your door each day 😊
Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains.
and The rooms were spacious.
My only quibble would be that some of our sheets had a stale smoke smell (we're non smokers). I mentioned this to reception after our first night, but found a new load of sheets dumped in our room upon arrival that afternoon. I'd had hoped house keeping would've changed the sheets but guess it's because it's an apartment and not a hotel nor did we prebook any additional midweek housekeeping.

We are a family of 5, with 3 daughters 24, 21 and 19. We booked the apartment with another family who have 2 daughters of similar ages. First we booked room E12 but after closer scrutiny, it seemed that there were not enough bedrooms (2) or beds for our family, so we swapped it for room F2 which was described as having 3 bedrooms one double and 2 twins. The other family booked our old room. When we arrived we found that our apartment was ridiculously tiny! The bedrooms had minimal storage for clothes and the living area had no storage at all. Nowhere to hang ski stuff, no hooks and minimal kitchen equipment. The other family's apartment was actually lovely! Much bigger, with a double patio window, stunning view and massive living area, despite being cheaper. There were only 2 bedrooms, but there was a surprise mezzanine area with 2 additional single beds upstairs. Not suitable for adults, but ok for young kids as it was in the corridor.
The position of the apartment building was great - virtually doorstep skiing, Les Arcs is a fantastic skiing area and although there wasn't all that much in the little group of shops surrounding the apartment, it was easy to nip down to the lively village below in a little cable car which runs until 11 at night.
The spa was a treat, it gets very busy after skiing as is to be expected. The pool too, was busy in the evening, but nice.
We were only given 2 towelling robes per family and when we asked for more, we were told to contact the agency with whom we booked, which was a trek down the mountain, so we didn't bother! Same response when we asked for a key to reach the garage (we drove) from inside the hotel rather than opening the main garage door round the back. We were not given one at the start and we could not obtain one from reception.
We were not happy with the accommodation or the lack of assistance from staff.
The other family were happy with their apartment because it was bigger, nicer and cheaper and as there only 4 of them, much more room! They were able to use the mezzanine area to store stuff. So maybe it's lack of the draw!

Close to the slopes everything very warm, well
maintained great for the family. Ski slopes and access right on the door step, nice slope out the back which was full with kids on sledges.

Restaurants within a 5 min walk, car parking for everyone all on all a great spot for a family ski trip.

When we arrived the beds were unmade, the bathroom was dirty with grime and mould all over the cubical, one of the sinks was broken, the foot stalls were burnt by the radiator. There was not enough toilet paper for a week which is unbelievable. There was dog poo in front of our window and on the snow outside the balcony.
The rooms were poorly sound proofed and we didn’t sleep well for the entire week. The people that stay here obviously do not care enough to clean up for themselves.

The space itself is conveniently located for skiing and the insides of the apartments are spacious with a lot of potential if they were renovated. There is a pastry service which was basic but helpful. For a group of people with no standards I suppose it would be fine.
We won’t be returning or recommending.

Alpages de Chantel is located in a satellite of Arc 1800 connected by a really efficient cable car which runs into the night and takes only few minutes. Although the main shops are down below there are local facilities including a small supermarket.

The apartment is ski in and ski out and is in a very convenient location. Being Pierre et Vacances premium, it is also of a higher standard. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and facilities are good including a swimming pool if you want one.

The overall experience was excellent and made for one of the best ski trips I have ever had .

For the past 10 years we have used P&V for apartments for skiing, and always rented a superior apartment because we like the extra space this gives us.
This property was nowhere near the standard expected. Dark (not enough lighting), not enough seating, not enough space, not enough storage space for clothes, no plug points for charging phones, a really poor layout and an insistence by the residence staff that this was a superior apartment.

We stayed at Les Alpages de Chantal over Xmas in Arc 1800, the apartments are modern and well equipped for Ski apartments. We had both a dishwasher, toaster and coffee maker.

We did have a couple of issues, the apts are small, we expect small when ski-ing and are used to that but in the second bedroom you could not even walk around the bed. We were a family of 4 adults and one baby and although we fitted into the apartment adequatley we had paid large under occupancy charges as it was supposed to be for 6. If you are a party of 6 I would reconsider before booking here as six adults would find it a squeeze. We also were charged 15Euro for a cot and had to persuade them to let us have a sheet for it !!

However the building and communal areas were nice and modern, clean and with good facilities. The pool and steam room areas were nice but a bit busy (however it was Xmas). The ski locker room was excellent and opened out directly onto the slopes.

The Apts are ski in ski out which is great when skiing during the day. They are a little way out of the village though and you need to catch a minibus up which runs every 20mins from the main square, miss this and you do have a lengthy walk up the winding mountain road, (with your heavy shopping) however we soon realised you could cut through the neighbouring apt block to cut out some of the road.

Les Arcs ski area is fantastic though so if you get the chance to go to the resort do so, it is fab and we would definatly go back.

This Alpages de Chantel is made up by 2 largish buildings, the main one being the highest on the mountain flank. That highest one has a ski rental shop, 2 restaurants and a spa. That spa can be enjoyed free of charge by the residents, and I have found it very refreshing after a long day on the slopes (massages and any treatments are charged and are quite expensive). It is a ski-in ski-out place, and despite the lack of snow when we were there, we could still ski down a maintained tongue of snow on the far side of the building. The apartement was duplex above the bar-restaurant, but it was very quiet at night. The flat was not cleaned during our stay, so we had to do it ourselves with the cleaning appliances provided, which was fined by me as I like to clean it my way. Bedlinen and towels are provided too, but only once at the start of the stay. Extra towels and dressing gowns could be requested for €8 a piece! Overall, the flat had everything we could ever need. The view from the large balcony was very nice. We were 6 people staying: 2 in the en-suite downstairs, 2 in the small bedroom upstairs and 2 on the landing upstairs. Very comfortable. Finally, the staff are superb: the most helpful and friendly and polite and patient people I have every encountered. Nothing is too much trouble for them. As for value for money, we sure had a bargain there.

We stayed here for half term week, and luckily for us we arrived very late and were given a three bed apartment despite having booked a smaller one. The size overall was OK for a family of four but would have been way too small for the 7 people it was supposd to sleep. For instance, there was only one sofa(/bed) which seated three people.

On the positive side: The beds were very comfy, the kitchen was quite well equipped, plenty of storage and cupboards, decor quite pleasant, and a good size balcony overlooking the piste, swimming pool, friendly restaurants in the complex who will deliver food to your apartment if they are fully booked. Ski-in ski-out is fantastic ... and the skiing in this area is definitely above average for intermediates like us, with a huge choice of pistes.

Negatives: Lack of comfy seating, small telly with only French channels, despite central heating we could never get it warmer than 20 degrees C.

The free shuttle bus service to the main village is very useful, you never have to wait more than 20 mins and it's free, and runs until late in the evening.

I'm not sure that the apartment we stayed in was officially part of the MGM Alpages de Chantel since they appeared to be privately owned and we did not have access to the pool or gym facilities available at Chantel 1 & 2. However, the building we stayed at (Saint Bernard) is in between these two and is part of the same complex. We booked through myfrenchchalet.com. It is a beautiful complex and is truly ski-in ski-out (as long as there is enough snow).

The apartment (Chantel E / A8) is lovely looking and has some great pluses: the views, the huge wrap around balcony, the shower, the really comfy beds. However, i feel i also have to point out the minuses just for anyone planning on booking as there were a few annoyances: the apartment is advertised as an 8 person apartment. There were 5 of us and we felt cramped. There are 2 bedrooms with twin beds that are fine but only one has a wardrobe. The other has a shower room instead of a wardrobe but no toilet (and it has no door!). There is only one toilet in the apartment even though the description implies there are 3! We were fine between 5 of us but i can't imagine 8 people sharing that one teeny toilet with no ventilation (the extractor fan didn't work until we managed to prop it open with a bit of cardboard). The 3rd bedroom with the bunks is really no bigger than a cupboard and it also has no door!! "Ample storage" is really a bare-faced lie. The sofas in the living room were falling apart - we had to tie the ends up with bag straps in order to keep them from falling to pieces during our stay. Some of the crockery was also in the same state - very fragile so best not to touch and get charged for a replacement! There were also no tea towels provided.

In all - we had a fabulous holiday and the apt was fine for 5 people prepared to get cosy, but i did feel a little insulted with the list of charges that would be applied for anything we did wrong!

Some other tips - the pizza place next to the ski shop is fabulous and delivers! The restaurant next door (L'Alpage) is also excellent. In terms of Arc 1800 - Le J.O was a favourite (as was D'Jag - the house band) and Casa Mia does excellent fondue but the manageress was a little rude. Chez les Filles was the friendliest place and does nice crepes for lunch.
