Detailed Reviews
Stayed here Xmas 2011 and again the week beginning 11th Jan 2020 so knew what to expect and the seven of us were happy to return to this fantastically located hotel.
There were two extreme vegans in our group and even they found enough to eat, both at breakfast and again at dinner and we enjoyed the complimentary red wine.
Some days, on return from skiing, the hotel provided free drinks and either crepes or waffles - a nice touch, similar to chalets.
I've read some ridiculous comments about the hotel but it was good value and yes it's not perfect but if you're an avid skier then you will not want to watch French TV or spend long in the tiny bath nor worry about bath towels which the hotel, if you're environmentally unaware, will change every day. There was always loads of hot water for a shower and the temperature was easily adjustable and steady.
There was entertainment in the evening, mostly in French although in 2011 there was more English spoken so at times we were at a loss to understand all that was going on, particularly the animation/show but it was enjoyable, more especially the three piece group from Grenoble who played numerous English based songs. Anyhow, our school level French was enough for most events, whether it be the quizzes or bingo.

The good
The resort of Arc 2000 is fantastic for intermediate skiers and the hotel is ski in ski out, so saves busses and lifts. If you want to get to Arc1950 there’s a gondola running until late at night.
The evening meals are hearty, healthy and filling. Unlimited wine on tap too makes it quite good value.
The boot room has individual lockers with codes.
The staff were really cheerful and always helpful.
The bad
The breakfast isn’t so good. We struggled to eat anything really. Strange tasting scrambled egg (probably powdered egg), unpleasant looking dried up sliced bread and cheese.
No hairdryers in the rooms and only had one bath towel. The other towel was replaced by a tiny thin hand towel.
The water for the tiny shower ran dangerously hot one second, then icy cold the next.
If you are a couple it’s hard to find a quiet table to eat as the hotel specialises in big groups.
The ugly
The decor and fittings in the communal areas are extremely dated and reminded me of an old eastern block hotel.
The rooms were very very tired and cigarette smoke pervaded the corridor.
The balcony was a sliver of concrete and the windows opaque through age.
Having said all this it is very good value for money and I would recommend it to intermediate or newish skiers on a tight budget.

I've stayed here maybe 4 or 5 times over the years when I bring my children skiing. I will no doubt come back in the future. (To my dismay it's not on Crystal's roster this coming season. No idea why. Hopefully it will be back.)
The reasons I've stayed so many times are as follows:
1. Superb location.
2. Buffet food
I want my ski holidays to be fun, not ruined by arguing with my kids over how far they have to trudge in ski boots before we can ski, or trying to force them to eat a dinner they don't like.
L'Aiguille Rouge has both of these covered. It's a true 'ski in/ski out' hotel: You step out of the front door, clip your skis on, and go. Coming back at the end of the day there's a short magic carpet leading you up the hill back to the door.
The food is generally nothing special. However there's nothing wrong with it either. What makes it great for me is that there is a tremendous variety each and every night. Even the fussiest eater will be able to find a few things to like every day. The variety means you can choose to eat healthily or unhealthily, dependent on your whim, and your kids will be happy!
There are ski hire and other shops in the complex.
So to the downsides: the rooms are small and basic, and the baths are only half the length of a conventional bath. There is, most nights, a strange and unpleasant smell as you walk through the open area leading to the restaurant.
This is not an expensive hotel (although prices have jumped alarmingly in the last few years) so don't expect expensive touches. As long as you bear that in mind then you'll be perfectly happy.
It's worth saying as an aside that Les Arcs/Peisey is an outstanding ski area with lots and lots of varied terrain, and you won't need the 'Paradiski' pass to have a satisfying week - the local area pass will do fine. It includes (or did include in the past) 1 day access to La Plagne, which allows you to take the cable car over, which is well worth doing for the views alone.

Hotel's Favourite
Fantastic great value stay third week of march enhanced no doubt by the absence of kids so hotel wasn't at full capacity so there was no issues with food and cutlery running out and dining room is designed very well with quiet corners and partitions that create sound barriers so it doesnt have that school canteen vibe .i was pleasantly surprised by the food offering, plenty of choice mostly good quality ingredients and lots of healthy options which i love which earned me the right to pig out on the delicious homemade deserts ,so often even in a 4 star establishments only produce defrosted mass produced crap .free wine and water was included too but no tea and coffee options but i was able to overcome this by bringing my own teabags and heating water in the microwave .maybe they dont want diners to linger for too long so they can clear tables but should be included . The bedroom is as in the photos basic but absolutely fine everything worked plenty of light switches and good water pressure in the shower and clean and the view is amazing why would u need fancy furnishings .the lifts worked well never had to wait anytime for doors to open .bar service was good prices reasonable but i think they could improve the entertainment offering perhaps a live singer drink promotions and extended opening times i think bar closed at 10:30pm we would mostly go down to 1950 for nighttime entertainment with a couple of good bars and one small nightclub with a great dj .its fantastic that you can ski out from the hotel down to the lifts and i think they should do more with the outside space they have there for apris ski activities .sking is brilliant here we had no ques at the lift huge area but we did find that theres not too many places to eat on the mountains and where poor value and sometimes slow service and makes me wonder what the sking experience is like during school holidays but we had great time and mostly good conditions .i was surprised to receive an all area ski pass on arrival at reception and also to mention on changeover day the restaurant is kept open late for us late arrivals much appreciated also to thank reception staff for help when i got in a bit of bother with a broken down car ,lovely blonde girl at recepetion helped to communicate with tow company for me so to end we had a wonderful holiday and will be back and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place for an affordable holiday .thanks to all the staff for your dedication .

We stayed here and couldn't have wished for a better place to stay, ski to door. The rooms were cleaned daily and the towels changed on request. Fantastic mountain views. The boot room had ski lockers allocated to each room which was a bonus. The food was plentiful with lots of choice. Breakfast had hot options as well as continental choices and many jams and spreads on offer. The buffet dinner each evening had many varied choices, there is no way you will be hungry. The staff were always friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Have just returned from a ski holiday where we stayed in this hotel. Our check in was chaotic but I think that was more down to our group all rushing to book in at the same time, 13 of us. The receptionists were actually great and helpful. Room was good, clean and tidy and large enough for 2 people. Cleaned daily. The food was good and varied but the only problem was that it was sometimes cold because of the budget self service style. A microwave was available on the second dining floor but there should be one on the food level. Bar area and entertainment provided was also good. I would definitely stay here again. Ski area great however ski pass was extortionate as was drunk prices in all the local bars.

Positives:
The hotel is in a good location and you are able to ski directly to the slopes and the lifts. In addition, the dinner options were good (being a buffet with different options each night. There is also a decent amount of wardrobe space for clothes and each room comes with a personal ski storage locker which has a lock (which is a key pad). There are also free shuttle buses all day between 2000, 1950, 1800 and 1600.
Negatives:
It is rated 2 stars and I would say that’s a true reflection of the hotel. Firstly, at breakfast there is always shortage of food, plates, mugs, cutlery etc. Half of the coffee machines are out of order and therefore you are queuing for anything. The restaurant is also very understaffed so at both dinner and breakfast you are constantly having piles of plates on your table. In addition, although the food offered at dinner is good, if you want dessert you have to get it before you even look at the other food as you are unlikely to get what you want if you leave it an hour due to the hotel not catering for all guests. The restaurant staff were also not very useful at helping when you were trying to find plates or mugs for example.
Secondly, the rooms are basic with rock hard beds. The heating did not work properly, however you don’t need it as the rooms are like saunas anyway. There is no option but to have the balcony door open (which then lets in a lot of noise, especially with there being local bars on both sides of the hotel) in order to cool the rooms down. Also, the ‘cleaning’ services consisted of changing towels and emptying of the bins, yet the bathroom floor remained extremely dirty from before we checked in and during our stay.
Thirdly, we travelled during the electronic peak festival and ended up attending some events in 1800 which meant we were back late. The hotel does not have anyone manning reception over night and all the doors are locked, meaning there is no way to get in to the hotel past 11/11:30pm. There is a door bell but no one answers. Therefore, if you want to go out late to a local bar, there is a risk you won’t get back into your hotel. I think this is very bad in itself especially if flights were delayed and people could be arriving later than this.
Furthermore, we asked for a hair dryer at reception as the rooms did not come with them. We were told there wasn’t one and the hotel used to have one but someone stole it and the manager refused to replace it (make sure to bring your own).
Lastly, all of the entertainment was in French and there was no options for any other nationalities.

We came to this hotel quite late in the season, it is very good for ski in, ski out as you have a locker area where you put all your stuff to dry which is good and well organised. The food was quite nice as well and they have a decent amount of options to choose from, wether it’s your main meal or dessert. For the price your get what you pay for but in my opinion the food lives above its standards, however I believe your hotel rooms seemed a bit outdated, and your bathrooms in my opinion could do with a refurbishment mainly because the bath is so small I think it’s a waste of space and the shower head is very low down, the mattresses and pillows are quite hard too and felt uncomfortable to sleep on. The last thing I think you really need to improve is the hygiene of the glasses and cutlery, the glass had dirty water marks on and tiny particles on and same goes for the cutlery. In general I don’t believe this hotel should get the hate it gets given
And I think it wasn’t as bad as people made it sound .. I think your hotel should just improve, new soft mattresses and pillows, updating the outdated rooms, renovating all the bathrooms to be more accessible and safer and the hygiene of the glasses and cutlery.. doing this will definitely attract more people to this hotel in Les arcs 2000. Thanks for reading my paragraph that wasn’t very well presented

Dear Ollie, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to our club. We are thrilled to hear that you found our ski in, ski out facilities to be well organized and convenient for your skiing adventures. It's equally gratifying to know that the variety and quality of our food offerings exceeded your expectations, providing a pleasant dining experience during your stay. However, we regret to hear that certain aspects of our accommodations did not meet your standards. We have recently changed 8 bed bases and 300 pillows to improve our guests' comfort, and we continuously review our facilities to ensure they provide the comfort and quality expected. Regarding the bathrooms, we appreciate your feedback and take note of your suggestions for improvements. We also understand your concerns about the hygiene of our glassware and utensils; please rest assured that cleanliness is a priority for us, and we will reinforce our efforts in this area. We are pleased that, despite these points, you found the overall experience at our club to be positive. We aim to provide an enjoyable atmosphere for all our guests, and it's heartening to know that we've succeeded in many ways. Your constructive comments are invaluable to us as they guide our ongoing efforts to enhance our guest experience. We would love to welcome you back to one of our 50 holiday clubs France in the future. Best wishes, Jérôme, Service Relation Clients Belambra

I spent a week here as part of a group of 37. Whilst the building is looking a bit tired and need of a refresh having been built in the 1980s, all the staff were welcoming and eager to help. The location is genuinely ‘ski in, ski out’ with very good lockers and changing area down stairs.
The food on offer for half-board was very impressive for quality, and extraordinary in terms of the variety on offer. The kitchen staff should be very proud of their work and it was much appreciated by all of our group! Bravo mes amis!!

Lovely staff, great food and location. The rooms are dated and could really do with renovating but they were clean, the beds were very comfy and the views from the first floor were gorgeous. The staff, from front desk to the cleaning team, handyman and restaurant will go out of their way to help. Rooms are cleaned everyday if you wish to, the menu changes everyday, the bar and shred areas can get noisy but they are conveniently packed away from the rooms so really not a problem and there’s a really chilled vibe. I would recommend booking direct. We booked via Crystal ski…never again. Luckily the staff made up for the lack of help from the Crystal ski rep. …if booked directly with the hotel you get better deals on ski passes for example.
