This is a budget hotel with a quality feel. Staff are friendly and accommodating and always make you feel welcome.. The surroundings are relaxing and with only a short walk to the station it is an excellent place to stay for a day in London

We have stayed in this motel a number of times is has lovely rooms in a peaceful setting.
There are not many rooms but they are very reasonably priced and the location is right by the river stort.
There is a bar and club facility on site which has recently been refurbised.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is a small village just up the road if u wish to go for a walk along the river.

arrived after 7pm when reception had closed but a friendly security guard directed me to the bar area, we got our keys and reserved our table for breakfast. room nice and clean (dated but well worth the money)

after breakfast we had a quick look around the place, lots of work going on and I can see that it will be fantastic when completed, so we will be coming back to stay in one of their executive lodges when we are next visiting family in the area.

Thinking of buying a cruiser so visited Roydon Marina to sus it out. Please don't even consider it! It seems that all they are interested in a making and not spending money. The roads are abysmal, dog bins were full to over-flowing and stunk. Everyone we spoke to had major negative things to say. Poor management, lack of security. Apparently the entry barrier is "always left open". Expensive fees with no money being spent on repairs, maintenance, the lock into the River is so slow its painful and it creaks like nothing on earth - can't see that lasting long. Apparently the pump out was out of action for days and complaints were met with a shrug of shoulders. There is WiFi on site but when this fails no one is interested in sorting it out - "here's the number phone them yourselves" was the answer! Pontoons are filthy, admittedly you can't help duck poop but we were told they have never cleaned. When you compare to some of the outstanding marinas in the Midlands this fails on every count. Such a shame as its a lovely location. WE WILL CERTAINLY BE LOOKING ELSEWHERE!!

Firstly I cannot comment on the lodges as they looked fantastic. My review is for the "so called" upgraded Superior Garden Rooms. Our room overlooked the car park no garden in sight !!! We had to spend the entire stay with our curtains pulled as everybody in the car park could see straight into our room. Secondly, we could hear every word and snore from rooms either side of us Room was half the size of a standard Travelodge room and 3 x more expensive. We had hoped for a romantic weekend away, child free and to be honest as soon as it was light, we checked out and will never return.

We booked a double log cabin with hot tub. Had an amazing family break the only fault we had was the wifi and TV signal as we where so far away from the reception the signal was never strong enough.

Will definitely book again. It's far enough out for peace and relaxing but close to everything at the same time

Had a decent stay in the lodge. Not bad at all but an outdoor whirlpool bath in the Winter is a bit pointless.
What you really need to be aware of is the state of the roads. We went for a walk to the marina on site and I was horrified. It's a mud bath. Don't bring any good clothes and for goodness sakes don't take your car down there.
Mentioned it to the guys working on site and they implied that the management weren't interested in putting it right.

This is a wonderful spot to stay right on a marina and a canal picturesque and quiet apart from the odd train going past.

Very convenient for the road network and the railway station, which can take you straight south into London (approximately 30 minutes to Liverpool Street or the same Stratford for Olympic Park and Shopping Centre), or north to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Bishop Stortford.

The accommodation is clean, tidy and well presented, parking is right outside the room in most cases and lots of it. Freeview television, great shower (some have baths as well), everything you need for a night or two away from home.

It presents great value for money.

The only drawback is that the restaurant is only open at weekends for dinner, the breakfast is a small continental provided in the room (croissant and cereal).

However there are plenty of places in the area to eat, just a short drive or walk away.

Having to check out place to stay for 3 nights for 10 people for a business conference near Harlow. First impression is the road leading into the development. You can only say it's a nightmare.Be prepared for roadrage confrontation with the locals, that look like local gypsies. The place is dirty looking and bins overflowing. We took a quick look over to the marina. It was covered in dog mess and I mean it was everywhere. Old broken down cars and vans parked around the lake. The large skip like bin areas smelt disgusting. The cafe was as we expected, dirty table's and scruffy people smoking something that stunk the terrace out.It was like a run down a council estate Stick to the village,if you just want to have a meal. But don't bother even visiting the hotel.Just gypsies on water.
