We literally left our hearts there.
We stayed at Maqueda Lodge 2 nights, but would have liked to stay for at least a week.
Crazy, lovely place, just outside Kruger.
The closest entrance to Kruger from the maqueda is the Crocodile bridge (20/25 min).
Private structure, not too large. Stunning common outdoor area with small swimming pool in front of the reception/dinner or lunch/reading room.
Adjacent area for dinner Boma wonderful. The staff organized a delicious and magical candlelit barbecue for us for the second evening.
The staff is friendly to say the least: Tinashe is there for whatever you need.
James, the manager, is the best ranger we had on our trip to South Africa.
We recommend the day safari with him, leaving at 5am and returning at 3pm in search of animals. James knows a lot about Bush, he explains everything to you. An adventurous experience that will remain with us forever and that we recommend.
The sunset safari is also notable, but they rely on external company.
Possibility of taking Yoga lessons with the legendary Tinashe.
Large, comfortable and spacious rooms. Only thing they don't provide shampoo/shower gel.
They are very attentive to cleanliness and every evening they come by the rooms to spray anti-insect spray.
Very nice external part, each room is equipped with a small external corner with two chairs for a bit of relaxation outdoors.
Last, but not least, the kitchen. Excellent. They cook absolutely anything: breakfast, lunch and dinner (at dinner on the first evening they served us fettuccine with meat sauce which wow, not often in Italy). You drink, you eat and you feel good. Immersed in the savannah.
What can I say, we are already thinking about returning to Maqueda and we haven't even left!

I can highly recommend this lodge and its staff. They are very service minded and possess great knowledge of the wild. Their guided jeep tours in the park run smoothly and take you to where there is the best chance of seeing the big wild animals

Our stay at Maqueda Lodge was incredible. The lodge was beautiful and clean. The food was delicious and generous. We saw so many animals with our guide on Safari in Kruger. The location is great, we were able to walk around the block and spot giraffe and zebra, we especially enjoyed our walks to the lookout to spot animals in the river. Our highlight really was the staff, they were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. We didn’t want to leave. Would highly recommend Maqueda Lodge as as a truly special place to stay.

Wonderful lodge, with fantastic staff.
We enjoyed the safari tours of Krueger Park. Early morning & afternoon safari, many animals but we missed rhino & leopard. But much of giraffes, zebras, lions, hippopotamus etc etc.
There was also a lovely cooling pool to enjoy between safaris, and good food in the evenings, especially the barbecue evening.

Staying 4 nights at Maqueda Lodge was the best decision of our whole trip! It was such a nice experience. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are very pretty and the location is amazing - welcome to the Bush! Also we really liked the food and enjoyed 2 amazing day trip Safaris with the ranger James. Although the weather wasn't quite on our side, we saw so many beautiful animals and learned so much. Thank you Maqueda Team for making our stay unforgettable! All the Best, Christina & Oskar

The whole complex with the separate cottages is very nicely laid out. The food was great, there was a braii (barbecue) on the second night which was super good. Breakfast was good.
We didn't like it at all but that there was no air conditioning in the complex. We had over 40 degrees and no air conditioning. Can't do it at all, also because of the risk of malaria, which is significantly lower in cool rooms. The fan was not helpful here. In our second room, the insect net on the window was not tight either and the mosquitoes were abounding in this room and were not deterred at all by the fan.
Staff was very friendly and always helpful.
The pool was unfortunately not very well maintained and there were no shade spots at the pool.
Except for the matter of air conditioning and the pool however a very nice stay.

The four of us, my husband and parents, were so lucky - we were the only guests at Maqueda Lodge for three days. So we got to enjoy all the attention of Michael and James and their fantastic cooking. The whole lodge is beautifully designed, especially the covered sitting and dining area, but the big difference from other beautiful accommodation was the people. On top, James and Michael provided us with all kinds of information, e.g. about the little five of Africa, and fetched a rhinoceros beetle from the garden as concrete visual material. Thank you and stay well!

Wonderful experience of the African bush, warm and welcoming luxury. James and his team were excellent company, very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble, we felt very much at home. Early morning games drives and bush walks were memorable. Looking forward to a return trip.

Many thanks for your enquiry. Our game drives are operated solely for guests staying with us. We have a child policy of 12 years and upwards. However there are several free-lance rangers that may be able to assist
Warm regards
