We really enjoyed Doringpoort, the rooms were spotless, the screens took care of keeping the creepy crawlies out! Colin was very attentive and helpful. The river which was 200 meters away was spectacular! We saw elephants, hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles, giraffe..right on our doorstep..an incredible holiday, thank you!

This lodge is located very close to the Crocodile river, which gives you a possibility to reach it withing a couple on minutes and watch the animals coming to the river from the Kruger park.
The small house we stayed in was a bit small but contained everything we needed, including the kitchen and bathroom with a shower. There was a roofed fireplace nearby with a table, where it was possible to grill.
The room service worked well, and the room was cleaned up every day.
Some pieces in the house looked a bit old., but all was functional. Not much storage for the personal belongings.
We had a great stay!

We loved the responsive and personal attention from our hosts, and the lovely outside area with own braai (bbq), fire pit and a thatch lapa with a uniquely beautiful table. It was enchanting to sit outside in the evenings and watch the bush babies eat the fruits of the nearby palm tree. The place is well appointed and comfortable, and the rooms lovely- although the loft room's conversion from an open patio is a little obvious and a bit open for my liking - although my young son loved having his own space up there with a mini bathroom and a daybed for reading and relaxing. As always, Marloth Park with its unspoiled bush setting was a joy and a balm for the soul, and the fact that the river is only a few minutes walk away is a real bonus. We enjoyed sunset strolls along the bank listening to the fish eagles' calls.
The roads are a little rough if you have a very low car, but we will stay at Doringpoort again when we have the chance to visit Marloth Park.

The accommodation was very beautiful and had the necessary utensils for self catering. General service is however a challenge as one of the rooms was not well attended to with toiletry and hand soaps. We found the reception to be cold as the lady/owner just handed the keys, showed us the rooms from outside and the process was extremely rushed. There was no time to ask questions and you basically have to orientate yourself with the layout of the rooms.

Dear Palesa, Thank you for taking the time to post your review, we do appreciate your comments. Should you have brought any issues to our knowledge we would have resolved them straight as we did with assisting with the use of some of the kitchen utensils you did not know how to operate. On arrival it was mentioned that you would like to have a look at the various units before deciding who would sleep where and then allocate your Family to the different units, so therefore your comments do not seem to make sense, as each unit was shown and you then allocated your Family to the different units. The only reason Carien did not go into the actual units to show you around with you is that we are extremely COVID cautious and that all units are sanitised before guest arrival and we come into contact with a host of individuals on a daily basis. This therefore is for your safety as well as ours, despite the entire Staff Compliment that has been fully vaccinated we continue to have full preventative measures in place, and therefore we can proudly say that we have had no incidents at the Lodge. We engaged with you and your Family on a regular basis throughout the day everyday and had wonderful conversation with everyone from the group, we apologise if this was not seen or taken into account from all the Family as continuous engagement and service. We hope to see you all for another visit in the future. Best Regards, Colin and Carien

Great location to see wildlife -Comfy beds-clean and well kept staff supportive restraunts close by
Liked · The location was good not to bumpy dirt Rd to get in. Accommodation tent in Bush Camp was clean comfy and had everything we needed. The outside garden area was kept clean and tidy the plants were well cared for. The cooking area kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. We saw lots of animals roaming around and there was very nice restraunts within 10 min drive. Owners and John were very helpful and booked excursions for us. It was a lovely place to stay.

Disliked · load shedding was a problem but this is South Africa wide nothing to do with the accommodation. it stopped the fans from working so it was very hot inside the tent. No wii fii connection at the tent bush camp.which was very inconvenient. We had to go up to the lodge are to be able to access the wii fi

We were very happy to have found Dooringport. The home was very clean. Well laid out and lots of amenities that I have an expected. We had great communications with the property manager, Marina. She went out of her way to help us when we were without a car. It was amazing seeing the animals walk up in the backyard around the swimming pool and Marina brought bananas and yogurt tempt that push babies down to the table so we can experience their delightful behavior.

this was a lovely lodge - the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable and have everything you need. We didn't try their menu, but it would be perfect for anyone not wanting to drive around. We stayed in the Soetdoring bungalow and were very happy there for our 4 nights. The lodge is close to the fence line to go and walk along the river, and there are benches to just sit and take it all in. We saw some buffalo wallowing and some elephant came down for a drink. The hosts were very attentive to any issues we had (minor, and mostly our own) and the response was speedy.

We were friendly received by Merina and Halston and they looked well after us. The unit was comfortable, well equipped, neat and cleaned every day. We can without any doubt recommend Soetdoring. Potential visitors must be aware that the last 500m of the road is challenging and that the en-suite bathroom is small. We will definitely be back.
