Loved this place. Great staff, good beer and the food was excellent. The rooms were really roomy, clean and had everything you needed. Recently renovated. Enjoyed the food for both dinner and breakfast. I just don't understand the Covid policy!! Well I do... $! Most staff don't wear masks (that's ok), but then you are asked to strip your own beds and put it in plastic bags, whilst housekeeping chuckle in their own area without masks. Rip off because of this...otherwise excellent.

Stayed over Saturday night at this cracking little hotel in Northumberland. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door and we were well looked after till the moment we left. The landlady (I think) was amazing, nothing was a bother and food and drinks were served with a smile and a bit chat. It was explained the restaurant wasn’t fully operational due to covid and instead they would serve a fish & chips and burger menu. Out comes monster fish and chips, it was amazing. Really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to visit again.

My wife and I enjoyed our 3 night stay here very much. The young ladies ( Kath and Kayleigh) couldn’t do enough for us, they were great . Our room was very clean and comfortable and it had a decent size tv, not that we watched it much, also had a very nice modern shower room, great!

Great find. Only spent one night (stop over) but found the hotel to be a real gem. Staff professional, accommodating & very friendly. Beer garden really lovely with comfy furniture and gin Palace. Breakfast tasty and plentiful. Whilst we had a v. Small room it was clean and recently refurbished. Shower roomy & powerful. Would highly recommend.

Just had a two night stay at this fab hotel. The rooms are comfortable and beutifully designed. Our full English breakfast was hot, tasty and there was plenty of it. Although there were restrictions with social distancing we were made to feel at home by the friendly and professional staff, nothing was a problem for them. The conservatory had a cosy feel with the chesterfield sofas and stone walls and it was grest fun getting drinks from the gin palace in the beer garden. We will be back to this great hotel.

Beautiful fire roaring in reception area on a chilly day made a very welcoming site. Staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. The meal itself was a delight and portion size very generous, lots of veg choice and Yorkshire puddings to die for. Well work a trip for the rice pudding alone, and very reasonably priced. The surroundings are very pleasant and spacious and there is a lovely garden and play area for children, cant wait to return.

Popped in for lunch at 1:40 as it stated outside that they serve lunch (Saturday) 12 till 2, However barmaid said no food till 5:30, so had a quick beer which was lovely and left. The pub itself felt really nice, log fire burning, good selection of beers, they just need to be much clearer on their blackboards.

Couple of days break, picked Black Bull. Could have been any other, however great pick. Staff very welcoming, nice ensuite room. We had a meal on each of the two nights, both excellent. Sirloin cooked to order which is not always the case with some chefs. My wife was determined to have the rice pudding but on each night the portions defeated her 😃. However at breakfast on the last morning the chef came out and gave her a portion to take home. How many establishments would have done that! 👏👏. We had a great couple of nights between the Black and Grey (adjacent sister pub) Bulls. Great banter with both staff and locals, superb jukebox in the Grey. Well recommended.
