What was supposed to be an enjoyable stay in this hidden paradise has become a nightmare for me. The man of the place has treated me with such unexplainable hostility and disrespect that has forced me to complain and ask for cancellation through Booking.Com, and to write this review. These are the incidents I have experienced; on Monday this week I had a friend of mine who came to pick up stuff from me whuch I had brought for him from Joburg. We were sitting together at the lounge when me and my friend noticed this unfriendly look by the man owner. He kept moving around as if he wants to say something until my friend had to drive out of the parking he had used when a booked in guest arrived. Two days ago after 11pm I arrived and found the place in the dark. I opened to get in and to lock. As i was struggling in the dark to lock, the man came down with the torchlight and in an irritable voice told me I'm not supposed to lock the door. This was the second time I was feeling this irritation with me, which I still ignored. Yesterday I had breakfast and also had to join a virtual meeting. No issues. Today I did the same, but decided to move to the lounge area as I didn't want to disturb the other guests. The lady of the place came to me and told me to go back to the main table as eating was not allowed at the lounge area, and I obliged. Then I was rudely interrupted during my breakfast meeting by the man to be told I should stop my meeting as I was disturbing the other guests. I told him his wife told me to come back and eat my breakfast from there. He then angrily shouted at me to stop, and I told him I'm in the middle of a meeting. He moved away and then all of a sudden the Wi-Fi was cut off. The man has been rude and unfriendly to me for no inexplicable reason. Now I'm battling to cancel with a refund as I cannot stay in a place where I feel unwelcome. The guests who were with me during breakfast will hopefully be my witness to this horror show.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks without the kids and grandchildren with Gerhard and Heidi in their little Paradise in Cintsa East outside East London, Eastern Cape. What an amazing rest for grown-ups, having a spacious room & bathroom with our own veranda and a beautiful sea view, a tasty breakfast (with Gerhard's own fresh bread) and swimming in a pool with the sea in the background! One can walk for kilometers on the pristine beach, swim in the waves, ride your mountain bike or just appreciate the sun...

The rooms are pretty, clean, large and comfortable. The view from the Restaurant, Pool area and also our balcony in the sea is amazing. The breakfast is fresh and lovely and the owners were really helpful. The footpath to the beach requires some climbing, but is close and you could also take the car to another beach.

What a pleasure to spend our holiday in such a well managed establisment. Heidi and Gerhard went out of their way to make guests welcome. Rooms are super clean, nicely decorated and excellently maintained. Breakfast and coffee exceptional. Fantastic view and will definitely be accommodation of choice if ever in Cintsa again.

Chosen “off the map” as part of a tour of the Wild Coast and Drakensberg, my wife and I could not recommend this place too highly. Decor and service of an impeccable standard. The hosts Heidi and Gerhard went out of their way to be of service. It has four stars officially as a B&B, but we’d give it five. One word of caution to potential visitors: don’t expect too much in the way of local night life. But if it’s a magnificent beach and countryside you’re after, this is a great base

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cintsa Lodge. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Queen Room which was spacious and had a great view over the ocean. The gardens were immaculate as was the swimming pool area. The beach was a 10 minute walk away over the dunes. Would stay there again if we come back to South Africa.

The worst night we’ve had on our honeymoon. We arrived late (9pm) due to an incorrect address and bad weather. The address on the booking site lists the property as being in East London, which it isn’t. As a result our GPS led us to a similar address just north of East London. We arrived only to be greeted by a locked and dark house and after many rings of the door bell an irate property owner who did nothing but verbally abuse us and wave a booking confirmation at myself and my wife. He did not even have the courtesy to ask why we were late so we could explain the driving conditions we had just endured, the incorrect address and the fact that we’d not even stopped to have dinner so we wouldn’t be even later for check in. He informed us that check in closed at 7pm. We were unaware as it wasn’t on my email confirmation. After the owner agreed to let us stay he ushered us to our room. The room was fine but the bed had no cover sheet, only a duvet and fitted sheet. The lounge in the room was old and the arm rests were worn. The shower pressure was bad and had almost no hot water, so my wife and I had quick, cold showers. Wifi is only accessible between 8am-7pm and there are only 6 channels on the in-room tv (no DSTV channels). For some reason a quiet period must be observed around the property pool between 1pm and 3pm. I do not know why. In contrast the co-owner of the property was lovely and the breakfast she served was nice. It was a shame we stayed here as we’ve only had positive experiences at the other B&B’s we had stayed at in South Africa. This is not a 4 star property.

We had a booking at this lodge and paid the lodge via EFT, when we arrived the owner had cancelled the booking and was very rude to me and my wife. He kept on laughing at our situation and refused to check if the money was deposited into their account even though we showed him the proof of payment. He spoke to my wife like trash and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to his establishment as he is just PLAIN RUDE!!!!!!!
