Stayed here at Misty River for three nights (Unfortunately) and it was the worst guest house experience I’ve ever had.
Locals and Misty River staff partied hard in a guest room adjacent to where we were staying until two in the morning!!!!!! Music bellowing throughout the complex when we the paying ‘guests’ have to suffer.
What kind of establishment allows this behavior? No apology given the next day either. Really feel cheated to have spent my hard earned cash on this Dump from Hell.
What really made me angry is the fact that it has been graded with three out of five stars!!!!
What an absolute three days of hell.

On a positive note, some staff were really pleasant and genuine and despite the double bed having two single sheets ( yes really made for an interesting sleep) the bed was pretty comfortable. Besides that the owner/ manager was extremely rude too when approached about arranged transport one morning.
He organized a vehicle to take some of us to the wedding venue but the driver drove off somewhere leaving us stranded and having to make alternative arrangements!!!!

Please avoid this establishment if you can as it definitely is not worth the money spent.

Wow, wow, wow!!! They have the most beautiful garden and bluest swimming pool. They have stables where you can ride on horses or have carriage rides. You can hike in the field. You can also book a spa massage and a couples picnic in the garden! It is close to so many tourist attractions. The staff members are friendly. The owners are so welcoming and kind. The food is also lovely! There is so much to do and the place is so aesthetic and peaceful. Thank you Misty River for a lovely trip!

I booked their two bedroom cottage and was asked to pay the full amount in advance- which I duly did. The establishment is on a very dark lonely road. I arrived by taxi at about 8pm(my flight was delayed). The security guard refused to allow me entry onto the property whilst he was trying to telephone the owner who apparently lived on the adjoining property. So - here I was standing in the bitter winter cold on a dark rural road in Johannesburg - whilst the guard "checked with the owner". There were two after hours numbers on the board- one of which belonged to a manager that left the employ of the place about 2 years ago and the other just went un-answered. After about 30 minutes the "owner"emerged. He rudely asked if I had made arrangements for a late check-in. Given that I had already paid in full and given that I arrived at 8pm- I did not think that it was necessary to make arrangement for a late check in. After a short delay I could hear him shouting expletives to one of his staff that he could not find the key.
That was the start to a horrible stay. The room was sparsely and poorly furnished. It was dirty and in the morning there I had a cold shower(no hot water). I then tried to make coffee- lucky I checked the inside of the kettle- badly corroded.
The staff were so humble and tried to make up for the bad attitude of the owner(Imker Hoogenhout). After agreeing that the cottage was not fit for habitation they moved me to another room. Same story- dirty, bath tube and toilet, stained lights, etc not working,
