There are a lot of agriturismi in Sardinia that offer nothing more than just a stay. And then there is La Grotta del Tesoro. Off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. The rooms are nice, the scenery interesting, but what makes it special is that you actually see the farm, the animals and the hard work the owners put in it. And it shows! The food they prepare is traditional, with a savoir faire that only comes from the connection with the land. It's not your typical hotel, so don't expect to be pampered, but if you're looking to get a glimpse of the true Sardinia you're in for a treat! Take note: be sure to let them know when you're coming and that you're planning to eat. The food they prepare takes time, so don't expect it to be available at a whim. Helps if you speak Italian, as they are not so good with English.

My husband and I spend a week in la Grotta del Tesoro in July for vacation. The place is simple and quite, you can really appreciate the farm and country side life, far from the beach crowd. The owners are incredible persons, always enthusiast and cheerful, you feel like you are part of the family. They do their best to welcome your every request and fill you with delicious food, fruits from their own orchards, home made cheese and honey. The breakfast was simple, and every morning there was a different, freshly baked cake, just amazing. We had the chance to have 2 typical Sardinian dinners, we were filled up with delicious food and wine, the dessert was great. I absolutely recommend this place, of course you have to deal with long distances to reach the beaches and Cagliari but it's absolutely worth it. You can also consider to come for dinner only, the food realy deserve a visit

Reviewers have already expressed delight with the food and the value - and they're so right ! Unbelievably fresh, fantastically well-cooked, plentiful and with wonderful staff. 15 Euros includes 1/2 litre of wine per diner and the same volume of water and most (if not all) of the fayre is home reared / produced. But why not stay there too ? Rooms are large and airy, access to fridges but leave your English behind as it won't help you one bit, but that's all part of the fun. So peaceful and within easy driving of the lovely beaches in the South West and good walking hills to the North and East.
