Marine House is enviably positioned at the landward end of the spit leading to Hurst Castle and only 10 minutes walk from the restaurants in the centre of Milford. It also has its own parking. Our room was Dolphin Bank. It has a lovely view West along the promenade and out to sea. The quality of the fittings etc in the room is exceptional; more the standard that you would put in your own home than you would expect in a B&B. Mandy was delightfully welcoming and helpful. She and her husband clearly have a passion to make sure that their guests have a great stay. We would certainly like to stay here again.

We recently spent three nights at The Marine House and really enjoyed it. The building is lovely and the rooms all have sea views. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and was wanting for nothing. Bathroom was large with lots of shelves to put things on (so often missing in other hotels). Plenty of shower gel, etc. and lovely fluffy white towels. The storage space in the bedroom was also better than most. The bottles of fresh milk and water were much appreciated. Mandy and her husband obviously go to a lot of trouble to keep The Marine in such a lovely condition. We were very grateful when, after a telephone call from my sister, they went out and purchased a bottle of champagne on her behalf for our Anniversary. Because of the4 Covid problems, breakfast was not included, but The Lighthouse restaurant (part of the same building) was fine and we also used one of the cafes in the village on one of the days. There are good restaurants in and around Milford. We had a lovely meal at the Brittania Thai in the village and another very good meal at the Cliff House hotel in Barton (a short drive from Milford). Definitely a B&B to be recommended.

We stayed in the Hurst Castle suite, which was very tastefully decorated, in a moden style. The balcony area overlooks the car park, but gives beautiful views out over a wildlife reserve, towards Hurst Castle and the Isle of Wight. Literally yards from the shingle beach. There is a small kitchenette, with a mini-fridge, toaster, microwave , kettle and sink. Parking was right next to the building. There is a large roof terrace available to residents, and gives great views of the sky and sea. Easy walking distance from the village, which has various eating options and shops.

Room Tip: The Hurst Room was quiet, with good views , but not directly overlooking the sea.

It was a late booking for our 55th anniversary or we would have gone for a suite. But the Christchurch Bay room was fine. Very light with mirrored wardrobes, white bed linen and big wide opening windows looking west across fields to the sea. We were met by the owner Richard promptly as arranged at 3.00 and he explained how everything worked and how the building had changed since it was a restaurant when we last visited a few years ago. The super king bed was extremely comfortable, the small fridge was large enough to take a couple of bottle of wine as well as the water and fresh milk that were supplied. The kettle tray was well supplied with teas and coffees, besides nice white porcelain mugs and wine glasses. The mirrored wardrobes opened to show bags of storage and hanging space and together with the bedside cabinet drawers and cupboards in the bathroom I don’t recall ever having been so well catered for. The bathroom was spotless with a lovely walk in shower. In fact you get the feeling that Richard and Mandy take great pride in keeping a tidy place. No breakfast provided at this Covid conjuring time but the Lighthouse bistro downstairs which runs as a separate business, was really good for breakfast and an evening meal. After walks out to Keyhaven and around the village it was great to be able to relax in the comfortable armchairs, open the windows wide and look out across the bay. And there was even a decent size table in front of the window. Useful for takeaways or even playing cards or board games.

Lovely B&B right on the sea with stunning walks & view. 10 mins walk to town great restaurants. Will visit again. Cabin room a little small but balcony makes it bigger. Really great breakfast & food downstairs but not part of B&B so you have to pay. Probably on the expensive side but if the weather is good it’s not painful
