#1 of 3 hotels in Lenham
Travellers' Choice
The Grade 1 listed Chilston Park offers one of the most exclusive hotels in Kent. Set back from tree-lined lanes, the manor house at Chilston Park Hotel in Kent is set in 22 acres of parkland and features a two AA rosette restaurant. One of the most best loved hotels in Kent, over the years Chilston Park has been a home to eminent politicians, writers, Lords and Viscounts. Today it is a classic British country house hotel with plenty of style and charm and one of the most perfect wedding or leisure destinations in Kent. But perhaps the most remarkable aspect of this 4 AA red star hotels in Kent are the antiques and history that surround it. The hotel has many interesting artefacts that date as far back as the 17th century manor house.

We didn't all arrive on time and orders were taken for 4 of us as we waited for others - it was meant to be a Cream tea affair - but one ordered a fruit salad as on diet. Firstly dressed in my hen gear had coca cola tipped all over me and the floor by waitress - napkins offered to clean up - floor was wood so not easy. 4 teapots turned up and then when the others arrived the sandwiches scones and cakes - and then the orders taken for the others and nothing served for 2 of them for 25 mins - no drinks at all, while we tucked into sandwiches - I appreciate this was a busy time but we kept calling out for assistance and it was piecemeal - eventually left after 4.30pm for a windy walk outside!! Had this booked for a month before so disappointed with service.

I booked a suprise stay to celebrate my wife's impending birthday and it was our first overnight stay since the outbreak of covid. All our anxious concerns were dealt with as Chilston has put in place sensible safely procedures. We were warmly greeted on arrival and delighted to be allocated the Oriental room as an upgrade. We opted for the five course tasting menu and we must thank the restaurant manager and staff who all ensured our meal was relaxed and enjoyable. We enjoyed our breakfast in the morning and our waitress ensured that all our needs were met. It was evident that all the staff we had the pleasure to meet are doing all they can to assist Chilston getting back to some sort of normality in the near future. They once again showed total commitment resolve and spirit that will assure Chilston will no longer worry about people visiting again. We are already looking forward to a return visit in the near future as Chilston is very close to our hearts.

Thank you Chilston for your fantastic service and for being so accommodating when our afternoon tea at easywell manor was cancelled 3 hours before our reservation. Even though you were booked up you found us a spot so my friends 30th birthday afternoon tea wasn’t ruined. Thank you - and what a fantastic afternoon tea it was!

Let's start with the positives of which there are many. It's a lovely venue with the main house dating back to the early 1720s and the Queen Anne suite which we booked has a a lovely aspect on both sides, one of the them overlooking the river. Though we only watched the Tokyo Olympics on huge TV opposite the four poster bed, you could have held the Olympics in the room - it was big as was the bed which required stools to climb into it. The 5 course tasting menu we had for dinner was really good. The carrot soup was excellent as were all the courses right up to the dessert which was a bit of a fall at the last fence. It was a hot sticky toffee pudding or it would have been, had I not waited - in vain as it turned out- for the dessert wine which I had ordered earlier but then had to ask for again. It finally arrived as I was within two bites of finishing the lukewarm pudding that it was by then. That was a let down but the waiter was very apologetic and indeed all the restaurant staff were very friendly and doing their best. Breakfast the next day was a highlight - delicious and flawlessly served by a team of young staff all of whom seemed to be enjoying their job. Smoked salmon was excellent. The sad part was that they had clearly not booked us in for the romantic package I had ordered. Even sadder was when I pointed this out on check out, I had to really push for compensation rather than being immediately offered it. I was made to feel I was making a fuss for little reason. Fortunately a manager appeared at the right moment and things were smoothed over and a refund sorted - plus no charge for the extras at dinner - I should have had that dessert wine instead of sending it back! However the damage was done by that time so 4 stars instead of five. My advice is to ring on the day of arrival and check they know what package you have ordered. Oh and ensure you know where you are going. It is in the back of beyond and not signposted from the Woodchurch direction anyway until you get to the drive of the hotel itself. You can't see but you can hear the M20 from the grounds but the hotel turn offs from the motorway are some distance from the hotel itself.

Had an amazing over night stay for our wedding anniversary! We were in Tudor Suite and I must say it was stunning! Everything from checking in to checking out was perfect .(Well almost no bubble bath for the amazing bath)!! Our evening meal was fantastic and the breakfast was also amazing! Was a bit costly but well worth it! We will be visiting again at some point soon
