About

Travellers' Choice
Kincraig Castle Hotel is a stunning, family owned, 4 AA star & 4 STB/VisitScotland star country house hotel with an award-winning AA Rosette Restaurant situated in its own landscaped gardens with breath-taking views towards the Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle beyond. From your first sight of the Castle as you drive up the long tree-lined drive, you know you are somewhere special. The grand white-harled building was an ancestral seat of the Clan Mackenzie and the history and elegance of the period is reflected in the displays of crow step gables, ornamental turrets and stone mullions. You will receive a warm welcome at Kincraig Castle Hotel and made to feel at home by the owners and their team.

Will start by saying how friendly the staff were, lady who we felt was in charge in restaurant was really good at her job , superb dinner and lovely breakfast couldn't fault the food , our bedroom needed updating, needs bigger bed and one that doesn't sink in middle, bathroom also needs updating, after saying that we would stay there again, hoping they get on top of the revamping and bring this lovely hotel into 2021 .

What an absolutely stunning building both inside & out! The room we had was enormous, spotless & had everything we could need. The food was delicious, plenty of choice on the menu. The service from all the staff was excellent. I’d love to come back for another stay & would absolutely recommend it.

Arrived to a dirty room ,urine all over the toilet and floor, dirty towel in the wardrobe and dirty socks in a drawer. We're given a bottle of wine as a sorry with our dinner fair enough. Then at 2.30am we were woke by a female member of staff entering our room! And scaring the absolute bejesus out of us,was told by the night desk there had been a medical problem in another room and there had been confusion. I was told later on that the person who entered our room was actually one of the owners of the hotel( you would think an owner would know their hotel room numbers) So to summarise we were left absolutely knackered and having a 8 hour journey home and also ruining our wedding anniversary. I don't think the £50 we knocked off a £420 bill is sufficient really.

Dear Mr Bennett, Here we are in the middle of a pandemic working long hours in very difficult working conditions, extending our finest hospitality and trying our best to be kind towards all our guests and then we receive this!!!! We've already apologised profusely for the housekeeping issues and the unfortunate disturbance during the night, however it seems that our apologies and the compensation we've extended to you are not enough! I was the 'night desk' person you spoke to during the night and I explained to you that we had a medical emergency in the room next to yours which required a guest to be rushed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by ambulance. Unfortunately in our rush to assist the paramedics and evacuate the guest from their room, it seems that the door to your room, which is immediately adjacent to their room, was mistakenly opened very briefly using a master key. I explained all of this to you and I extended my sincere apology for any inconvenience caused due to this unfortunate disturbance when you called the 'night desk', however you didn't express any concern or sympathy for this guest during our entire telephone conversation. Our Receptionist has also informed me that when she advised you during check-out that we'd discounted £50 from your room bill for the inconvenience caused due to the unfortunate disturbance during the night, you again didn't express any sympathy or concern for our guest who spent the night in hospital. Instead, you made a big scene about how tired you were because you'd been disturbed during the night and you had a long drive ahead of you. For the record, you paid £336.20 for your stay with us which included a £127.20 charge for drinks and dinner. Your booking was made through Booking.com who charged us an 18% commission. I guess you must have enjoyed your dinner as you left our staff a £10.00 gratuity. It's a pity you didn't balance your review by letting everyone know that you enjoyed our food and beverage service. It's so disappointing that you didn't write to us, the Owners directly as we would have dealt with this matter in a professional and sympathetic manner. Instead, it seems that you couldn't wait to post a critical review in the public domain! I trust you realise that this type of negative review only serves to tarnish our excellent business reputation which we've built up over many years of hard work and it deeply hurts our employees who served you and extended their kindness towards you during your stay with us. Your motive for submitting such a negative review must surely be to try and deter other people from staying with us and by doing so I hope you realise that you're also threatening our loyal and hard working employees' livelihoods. We are all human and we all make mistakes and we have apologised sincerely for our failure to meet your expectations on this occasion. It's a pity you can't find it in your heart to forgive us! The hospitality sector is facing major challenges and we've been struggling to survive over the past 18 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic 'lockdowns', however it's been very gratifying for us to welcome so many lovely guests from all over the U.K. since we reopened in May. We've received so many highly complimentary 5 star TripAdvisor reviews from very happy and satisfied guests since we re-opened, so we'll leave it up to anyone reading this and all our previous reviews to assess your review for what it is. We hope you had a safe journey home to Macclesfield. Best wishes, Ray Grant Owner

The pictures on the hotel website and booking.com make it look far more grand than the hotel actually is. Our room in the loft was very average and no better than a bog standard B and B. Given the money paid (over £200 a night) the room was not worth it. The lounge however was beautiful and we enjoyed our evening in there. The food in the restaurant was good. The wine was really bad. I ordered a glass of red, the bottle had clearly been open a very long time and the glass arrived with 2 very dead flies in it. Overall, not worth the moeny
