My mum and I stayed at Burn Hall Hotel on the 30th May for two nights and I must say it was brilliant. We had an evening meal in the restaurant on our first night and it was amazing, it was delicious and out of this world food and I can't praise it enough. All the staff were excellent and so friendly, they are a credit to the hotel. The hotel itself is immaculately clean and well looked after. The breakfast was also excellent. We also visited the Bird of Prey centre which was great and would highly recommend. All in all we had a fantastic time at the Burn Hall hotel and would highly recommend it, as we couldn't fault it at all and I would certainly stay again. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for our lovely stay.
I came to a wedding at Burn Hall and the venue was lovely. The staff were all friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The wedding food was all really nice followed by a nice breakfast before check out. I wouldn’t hesitate to come stay again. Thanks
When we arrived, nonwelcoming staff. I complained by ringing to reception asking to change room, due to a small dark and gloomy bathroom and the window view of room 225 was caravans outside the window. Plus the door lock was different to any other room. When I spoke to reception she said they were fully booked and only had one small room to offer. They told us to come and pick up the key and look at the room alone. No windows were open in either room. We took the smaller room. Later that day I did a search on booking.com to find there were more rooms available. The new room was smaller , but a better outside view, a larger bathroom, but with a dirty floor and a toilet seat was not the easiest to open. The shower was not very powerful. When we arrived we were offered £15 off each of our evening meals for the first night. No breakfast, no offer of breakfast , and no offer for the birds of prey experience which we realised was in a piece of paper wrapped around the room key. I fully feel we had the experience of the hotel been racist as my partner is Caribbean. As never in my life have I felt staff been so unhelpful .Not even wishing you a happy stay, or when we left asking if we had a nice stay.…
Just had our daughters wedding here on the 4th June. Nothing was too much trouble. Booking in, sat in the bar for pre wedding celebrations, the day itself just went perfectly. The staff were more than helpful, with a special mention for Danny. He was there the whole weekend making sure we were all fine and everything was going to plan. Couldnt have managed without him. We had so many guests comment on the service and staff. Thank you Burn Hall - no mean feat catering for 120 guests .You made it a fantastic day with so many memories.
Booked this hotel using a Travelzoo offer and we weren't disappointed. Very easy to find , the hotel is about 8/10 miles outside York in the middle of the country and is very quiet. Getting into York itself was very easy using the nearby park and ride (£3.50 each) and the buses are frequent. We were too early to book into the hotel so had our cream tea which was included in the deal. This was disappointing as the scone was stale and dry. The waiter Liam even swapped cups for my husband who has grip issues. The hotel is big and has lots of ground floor rooms. We were on the 2nd floor (333) . The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Only complaint would be the flush on the toilet which was very hard to do, and had to be pressed a few times for a good flush. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was really nice. I ordered fish & chips and the fish was massive. Breakfast was a buffet affair, hot and plentiful. There was plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy an evening drink. On the last day we went the Bird of Prey centre next door (included in our stay) Well worth a visit. I would definitely come to this hotel again because its in a very good location, with easy parking. Note to management - can you make sure Liam & Steve get some time off cos they seemed to be there all the time - at breakfast and dinner. Both are a credit to the hotel, always smiling and well turned out, as were other staff who all seemed to be enjoying their job. Well done. Will be back …
I read the attached reviews as I was creating my own and am not sure where some of the previous guests stayed. Certainly wasn’t at the Burn Hall next to the Bird of Prey centre 🤔 As a a catering professional I despair of some of the standards currently practised in the U.K. But Burn Hall was a breath of fresh air. A warm welcome, great value package, decent rooms, excellent dinner menu and a HOT tasty breakfast. I’ve not seen staff so smart and it was great to see a morning suit being worn again. All staff were friendly polite and attentive throughout. I can’t recommend this hotel enough for a great value , comfortable short stay enough. Well done folks 👍
My wife and I have just spent a restful two days staying here and enjoying our wedding anniversary. The staff were very welcoming and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The restaurant service was very good, whether this was for an evening meal or breakfast, always highly attentive and generous portions. There is ample room for sitting in the gardens to enjoy summer sunshine over a casual drink. Our stay included tickets to the nearby Bird of Prey Centre, which was an absolute delight!! We would love to visit this part of the country on a future occasion, and would most probably opt to stay here again!
We stayed 2 nights and moved rooms 3 times. All the floors squeak and you cannot get any sleep. There was a wedding on Saturday and we were refused food as the kitchen staff were cooking for 120 guests. So maybe you shouldn't take on extra guests if you have a wedding party. Noise up and down the corridors all night. Wont be staying there again.
I will always give an honest review and often give pros and cons, for the Burn Hall it is all good. Staff, food and accommodation all spot on and giving excellent service. I fully appreciate thatHaving never worked in the hotel sector whether at the top or bottom but know when good service is provided. I found the staff going full out to look after clients and although the cutlery was not gold plated I had a knife, fork and even a SPOON for my dessert. I didn’t need a fork for ice cream.
All good with this stay free parking easy fast check in with nice staff room had everything you need tea tray hairdryer loads of towels hangers and some toiletries to get you started nothing fancy but all clean and fresh breakfast was self service loads of goodies both hot and cold so happy days the only grumble was the prices at the bar which were over ten pounds for two pints of lager and lime otherwise nice stay at a great central location
