We stayed one night at this hotel, I admit that I booked it so far from Bergen because of the parking issue, but once there I regretted it a little. It is about 15 kilometers from Bergen, next to the airport, although I must say that we did not have any problems with noise, nor from outside the rooms next door.
Our room was spacious, it had a kind of closet that housed a kitchen inside, the surprise was that inside the sink there was a plate and some cutlery that had been forgotten there. We told the reception and they apologized and asked us if we wanted to change rooms, but we told them it wasn't necessary. When we returned from visiting Bergen they had collected them, although it caught our attention because they had removed the rest of the plates that were supposedly unused, so if we had needed them, we would not have had them.
In addition to the closet with the kitchen, there was a table/desk, a structure that served as a closet, an ironing board, and a fairly comfortable bed. The bathroom is quite good in size, with a gel and shampoo dispenser in the shower.
We had breakfast included, the hotel is huge and has a lot of rooms, so breakfast the next day was crowded, personally the buffets with so many people make me a little creepy. There were many options and it was very complete, yes.
In the reception area there is a pool table, table football and another games area, as well as plenty of armchairs. Also a mini supermarket area with food and toiletries, but we had to buy a small bottle of water and it cost us 4 euros. To take the umbrellas at the entrance, you have to leave a sign that is then returned to you when you leave it in its place.
I admit that I don't like such large hotels very much, although in general everything was good, due to location it would not be an option that I would choose again, although it is true that the next day we went directly to our next destination without wasting time.

Hotel grounds, facilities and all areas very clean. Restaurant has good food for dinner and staff was very nice. Room was clean and very comfortable and large enough to be very comfortable. Check in was very quick and had no issues when doing so.

We stayed one night at this hotel, and found everything to be very good. Room was compact but two beds that folds out of the wall for the kids (which they loved) saved space. Very comfortable double bed. Breakfast was abundant and the selection of gluten free foods for our daughter who has celiac was excellent. Parking is free right outside the entrance. There are fun activities for kids and adults too in the foyer area (shuffle boards, pool table, soccer game) and areas to sit and relax. The gym was equipped with everything you need for a great workout, from cardio machines to kettle bells and free weights. It's about a fifteen-minute drive from the center of Bergen, but there is a large shopping center just a few minutes' drive from the hotel so if you want to go shopping you'll find everything you need nearby.

The worst in relation to prise. I wouldn't recomend it to anyone. Room looks much worse than a hospital rooms. Everything you will need is miles away and you are 100% dependent of using a car. They wsay parking free, but they include it into price which is unbelivebaly 1520 NOK (about 150 euro) just for one night.

Dear vpalib239713, Thank you for staying with us here at Scandic Kokstad and for leaving your first and only comment here on TripAdvisor. Our hotel is not located in the city center which is clearly highlighted in all reservation channels. We have the light rail tram (Bybanen) located a 3 min walk from the hotel and several bus stops also within a walking distance should one chose to stay with us without a their own car. Your comment comparing our guest rooms to a room in a hospital is childish so I decline to comment on it. As for the price, you decided to pay the price when you made the reservation, I am sure you are able to find more affordable accommodation in Bergen should you wish. Once again thank you for staying with us and I wish you happier travel in the future. Best Regards, Torgrim Viken, General Manager, Scandic Kokstad

We choose the Scandic Kokstad due its location near the airport and quality presented. After the stay I can say that it was the best choice we could make. Everything was so clean and nice looking, the room was well equipped (we were surprised by kitchen with electric hot plates, fridge and kettle - everything hidden in large cupboard) - more over, it was nice to have on top of that fan, iron and possibility to sort waste. The bathroom was spacious and super equipped, breakfast was also delicious and staff was nice and friendly.

Terrible sewer smell in the bathroom. Cleaning staff said they have had odor problems in rooms in this wing. The management did not deny this either.
If you are going to live here you should avoid the 1st floor
Hope they take hold of this and get it sorted out even though according to themselves they say it is an old hotel

We used our Scanic points and they were flexible and gave us a familyroom for four and we upgraded it to superior with extra fee. It was extra spacious room but located right next to elevators so there was noise until midnight. The staff was not so helpful and friendly as I am used to in Scandic hotels. Free parking was nice. Good public transportation, trains go within every 10min to center. Lot of empty serving trays at the breakfast after 1h 15min of serving. No plates to find. There was staff, but they did not fill the serving.

After the hotel became fully/partially a refugee reception in 22/23 I came back here now 2 times in Sept and October 23. Should have guessed this misery after the first trip, but then I arrived late and left early in the morning. The problem the first time was, among other things, that the fridge in the room was defective, a bit silly when you have things you want to put in there, then the shower head hung at half past eight, and was clearly broken. Had a quick dinner where you could choose between the chef's choice, which was pork neck for 255 and cod in an indeterminate sauce for about NOK 350, chose the cod, but only managed to eat 2-3 bites before I realized that this was nothing but quickly heated , I paid and left without saying a word, rather ate a couple of crackers in the room.
Breakfast is as usual at Scandic, the bread is so hard that you can build a house with it, so useless to eat, I stuck to a plate of cornflakes. Then I arrived now on 02 Oct for an overnight stay, the same type of room was booked, with fridge and kettle. Once again, the fridge was dead, the kettle was working, the reading lights by the bed were broken off, the same problem as the first time with the shower head hanging at half past eight, you can literally see that things have been used a lot, and worn out in a very short time, it's still partial asylum reception with a lot of noise from kids running around, no criticism for the Ukrainian kids who are probably bored out of their wits, but it is no longer suitable as a hotel. Same dinner menu as the first time, the result was this time crispbread in the room, just as good, but now I've learned, I won't try this hotel again, until then there are far too many others that are 10 times better, the advice is, steer clear far away

Yes this is not unusual. Those websites are concuting
We took Flybussen and they did not stop despite our request at stop for Scandic. We had to go into airport then out again when they reluctantly stopped for us. The walk to hotel was not signed (may 2016) - you cross the bridge over road then turn left and walk parallel to road to hotel. I would recommend staying in Bergen where you can then enjoy the city at night and easy access to airport buses.
Hi, from the airport you can take Bybanen (light tram) two stops to Birkelandskiftet and the hotel is a 5 min walk. This light tram can also be taken to the city center. Looking forward seeing you in August. Torgrim, General Manager
Hi Sasy_782014,
The Light Rail (Bybanen) is a short 5 min walk from the hotel. The train run every 5-10 min from the hotel to the city center. We look forward hosting you. Best Wishes, Torgrim Viken, General Manager
