In this period of the year it is my birthday and I like spending it abroad, it’s different because you are not sure what you gonna get. Last year my husband organized me a party in Monaco at TWINGA. It was so memorable that now, nothing seems to match that. I am afraid we raised the bar too high for us. ( I am writing now, because I am searching again for a hotel to spend my birthday, so if you have some splendid ideas you can send it to me in a private message. It could be anywhere in Europe! Thank you in advance!) We visited hotel Forum in Beausoleil in August last year (stayed only for 2 nights because we wanted to tour the Riviera). Our room was big enough, at their last floor, since we requested to have a nice view, if possible. The room was nice and cleaned and it had a perfect view over the harbour. Breakfast is just basic but it worked. They served it in their small restaurant downstairs in a buffet style. For me it was kind of funny to see people grabbing eggs and boiling themselves. Sometimes accidents on the floor happened since people are not used to maneuver that device. I hope they gave up on that particular thing. But it isn’t so bad and scary, we used just fine… some people are a little clumsy or not well sober in the morning and then the staff will have to come and clean some soft eggs from the floor.
I have a special thanks for one of their employees, her name is IRINA! She was so attentive and prompt! I contacted her before checking –in and let her know it was my birthday and we only like nice surprises so we need confirmation of the reservation. She gave me one of their nicest rooms with views over the old port of Monaco. Thank you so much, Irina! I believe she speaks Russian and of course, English and French. The hotel has lots of good points: - The proximity of the Gare de Monaco, 4 minutes by foot, only remember to use the elevator; - Price per night comparing to how close is to Monaco; - Clean rooms and sufficient breakfast; The personnel there - all seems to be great with people, always trying to please everybody and giving them advices about what to visit or transportation; - They have a terrace on the top of the hotel which can be used as a solarium or you can serve a bottle of wine or whiskey, if you like, in the evening looking at the stars, you can take your coffee and cigars in the morning, so it is most appreciated.
So, we will definitely return because they succeed making us feel welcome there!
We had a room on the 5th floor and could not access the wifi, which is quite convoluted to connect to anyway. We found we could get wifi well in the restaurant downstairs but not in the lounge area. When I let the staff at the desk know they told me to try in the bathroom! Ok... I will check my emails on the toilet. LOL. I tried but it didn’t work there either. Our room was satisfactory but be careful in the shower as the handle is directly in your back and the shower cubicle is very small so I accidentally hit it and the water went very hot. We went out for the morning returning to the hotel about 2pm and our room had not been made up. Breakfast was good and you can get cappuccino for no extra cost. The hairdryer was ok and our view was good over the city/marina. We felt the staff at the desk were pretty disinterested and we saw many other guests complaining about the wifi and other things. This hotel is reasonably close to the train station but it is quite a hike up hill if you aren’t aware the the “cheats”. Get a taxi or bus up from the station and ask about the best way to get back down to the marina. There are no cafe’s or restaurants close by.
Stayed here with brother and Dad for a boys weekend in Monaco.
Clean, tidy, helpful staff, does exactly what it says on the tin. Monte Carlo is small so you can get there easily from this hotel, five min walk to the port. It is uphill however, which is tough with suitcases!
Stayed only a night there. But was lucky to get a very spacious room with a sea view. The terrasse on the roof top has a magnificent view. Breakfast n Food at restaurant was pretty good too. Nearest parking is at the railway station. About €20/night. It’s better to take the train than the car to get there because the roads are pretty narrow there.
Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast was outstanding, room was clean and quaint but the bed was terrible , it completely sagged in the middle - room 26. The location was perfect right across the street from the forum and plenty of restaurants to choose from within a 5 to 10 minute walk. Would recommend but check out the bed first.
