Staff are friendly polite know their work and the main people in reception speak good English. My wife had bed and breakfast and occasional snack in the restaurant. Room service is available. She and her friend did the fruit cutting and the staff were knowledgable pleasant friendly and enjoyed helping them even when they made mistakes. They found it a lovely light and informative afternoon. There are rooms around their two teir pools. Although there us room for upkeep on pools they were still good enough to swim in. Although not a poolside bar the restaurant and bar are in the centre of the top teir pool.
Was due to arrive at the Phunawa this Thursday 26th March. Booked with Hotels.com on a non-refundable. Wasn't expecting a refund after Hotels.com said they need to contact Phunawa to see if they would agree. I work in travel and I understand the complete devastation this is causing hoteliers and airlines. Anyway, Phunawa agreed a full refund. Credit where credit is due. I will book again and definitely book Phunawa based on there response to a situation beyond anyone's control. If only everyone was like them. Thank you.
Stayed in this hotel for the 3rd or 4th time and always look forward to going back, rooms very spacious with full kitchen if you wish to eat in. The staff are very warm, friendly and very helpful with Minny, the manager extremely helpful. The resort is ideally situated a 10 minute walk to Karon beach with transport laid on to the beach and back every day as a courtesy. Well worth looking at if you plan to visit the area.
The highlight of this hotel was definitely the staff. Mah (I hope you see this review Mah and friends) in the restaurant, patiently tried to teach us some basic Thai and the rest of the staff were always so welcoming and helpful. My son cut his leg at the beach and the lobby staff and driver could not have done enough to get us to and from a clinic, that they suggested, for stitches. Our room was huge and always well maintained. It would have been a 5 star review if the beds had not been SO firm! We really loved our stay here and it felt like a little home away from home. Don't expect resort style or quick service in dinning room as there's none albeit staff try their best. It's a dated resort and if you have travelled often like we have then it's about 3 star level. Housekeeping comes quick when you phone them and are very polite and respectful. If you are injured it can be a chore walking home after going down the road to eat (recommended)
