This is a great hotel located in San Gerardo de Dota near the Savegre river. Rooms are rustic and very comfortable cabins, located around a lush garden were you can see many hummingbirds in the early morning hours. The rooms are very warm, and even during a thunderous storm, we did not need to use the provided heaters. Beds are clean and have multiple covers. Bathrooms are very large and provide ample hot water, although you need to run the hot water for a little while until you get it. Breakfast is included and the restaurant area is perfect for reading, chilling or even working. They have a nice fireplace and we saw them prepare a romantic dinner for two in front of it, with rose petals and candles. If you want to be up and about early in the mooring, they can prepare a boxed breakfast, so you can go out and enjoy the birds. We travel often to the San Gerardo area for scientific research and they have always tried to accommodate us and our students, thus supporting local research. If you are in town, pay them a visit and you too will be supporting local scientific research on conservation biology.

My husband and I took the suggestion from our tour guide crtravellingtours@gmail.com to stay here. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived! Rooms are squeaky clean, awesome showers. quiet and peaceful. Manuel was like our private butler and accommodated our every need! From dinner suggestions, to hiking the waterfall, the staff was super helpful in guiding us! The place to stay in San Gerardo de Dota, hands down!

The staff here is incredible. They are all very kind, willing to help and very professional. The food at the restaurant was delicious, served fast, good presentation, and the prices were extremely reasonable. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. They also offer room service (if concerned about covid). The rooms are comfortable, clean and surrounded by well kept gardens. There are plenty of spots to read in the open. San Gerardo de Dota in itself is a beautiful place. Definitely a must for people visiting Costa Rica.

Suria is set in an unspoilt valley and consists of a range of cabins and main building where the restaurant and check-in area is. The accommodation we were in was very basic, but actually the bed was super comfy and I slept really well! It's very cold at night and no heating, just a little electric heater, so prepare to hop around a bit until you get warm, especially after a shower! Dinner was nice, the staff were very friendly and obliging when we explained that we were vegan (no vegan options on the menu at all), and specially made us a Casado. The portion was a bit mean though so we had to ask for more plantain and fries - served with mayo so we had to send them back. In the morning our only option was fruit but it was nice - the room was super cold though so after hours of freezing outside seeing the Quetzel it would have been nice to have a cosy breakfast. Overall it was okay for one night but I wouldn't spend much longer there. Nice location for wildlife buffs and birdwatchers :)
