We loved the location of this beautiful hotel. The Oceanside boardwalk was incredible. We also loved the highest level of security in a hotel that we have ever stayed at. The complimentary breakfast was amazing with fantastic service. Each room was a suite with a kitchenette and washer/dryer.

My family and I stayed at The Capital Hotel Umhlanga in October 2024, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The hotel’s modern elegance, excellent facilities, and top-tier service made our stay truly memorable.
What stood out the most was the exceptional hospitality, especially towards our 2-year-old son. The staff went out of their way to ensure he was comfortable, safe, and entertained, which made our trip even more enjoyable as parents. Their kindness and attentiveness did not go unnoticed, and we deeply appreciated the extra care.
Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing family stay. The hotel’s location was also perfect—close to great restaurants, shopping areas, and the stunning Umhlanga beachfront.
The breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was warm and welcoming. The pool and other amenities were well-maintained, adding to the experience.
Overall, The Capital Hotel Umhlanga provided us with a fantastic home away from home, and we would highly recommend it to families looking for a comfortable yet luxurious stay. We will definitely be returning in the future!

We recently booked a group of 74 guests into The Capital Pearls for a two-night stay before they embarked on a cruise, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, the service, facilities, and hospitality exceeded our expectations.
Our guests were absolutely blown away by the stunning rooms and top-tier amenities. The Capital Pearls management team went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless, making each guest feel welcomed and valued. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their dedication to excellence truly stood out.
It’s experiences like these that make me incredibly proud to showcase the world-class hospitality South Africa has to offer. Thank you to The Capital Pearls team for making this stay so memorable—we will definitely be back!

We arrived at the Hotel and we were greeted by the Manager Phindile if im not mistaken. I made requests and my booking room type was changed and had to complain when i get to the room. The room allocated was not what i booked. Instead it was a downgrade to the price I paid. The room I booked and paid for was a Superior with sea facing and a couch. I was allocated to the cheapest room which which was a luxury studio room with no couch as my booking indicated that I should have a couch. Only to find a room with a table and 2 chairs, squashed and small room. Got to the room and we were going to a function with my fiaance, the iron was not working, we booked for 2 people and the amenities were not all there, one pair of bathrobe, one pair of towels and we booked for a couple. to make things worse the lights were not working and the we couldnt charge our phones on time because the plugs were not working. Since Im also a hotelier the Housekeeping supervisor is supposed to inspect the room and all these things before you release a room for check in of which here it wasnt the case. After they sent someone to check all these, we were moved to a room 611 which i think, the manager on duty tried to fix us and allocating us to a room with the tinest balcony of them all. The sea view that we asked for wasnt that good of which we had the feeling that we were allocated to this specific room just to fix us because we highlighted these things. I told my partner that we will never booked at The Pearls over these treatment. We had an option of other Hotels at Umhlanga and wanted to try The Pearls but we promised ourselves never to return there since we were not valued guests.

The hotel is okay, as expected. Service of the restaurant staff was amazing. The experience on check out was shocking to say the least. Budging in guests rooms without permission because the check out time has passed can be handled better. A guy came into my room with the do not disturb sign on, didn’t wait to be opened for. He informed me of the check out time and I asked him to give me time to pack and leave as I thought the check out time was 12. 5 minutes later he badged in the room again, I was coming out of the shower informed him that I’m undressed as he can see what is he expecting me to do, walk out the way I was, as I already indicated I’m getting ready. He stood there and I had to lock myself in the bedroom to call a colleague who was in the same hotel to share what is happening. Raised a complaint with the manager on duty, to date no feedback. The respect of guests is limited to booking, checking and definitely not on check out.

I mostly travel to Durban for business, but in the end get a feeling of the trip being a combination of business and leisure, much to do with the Capital Pearls, its location, facilities, and amenities. The look and feel are world class, being in the sought-after Umhlanga area, walking distance from the beach, restaurants, and attractions located within reasonable walking and driving range. Although not all rooms are sea facing, the that are sea facing are excellent with beautiful views over the rest of Umhlanga and the sea.
Getting up in the morning and going for a walk along the promenade is so good and relaxing whether you do it for exercise or just relaxing. Then coming back to an excellent breakfast setting with good variety to start off the day and fill up before a busy business day.
The reception staff are always friendly and welcoming, professional, and efficient. I do not normally take down their names, but next time I will most definitely. The rooms are kept in an excellent and exceptionally clean and hygienic state.
My overall rating of the facility is excellent, and I would recommend whether for business, leisure, or a combination.
The Capital Pearls is excellent value for money. I enjoy my stay, every time.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and accommodating. Always greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly, happy manner which made us feel more at home and relaxed which was highly important during our holiday. They treat you more like family rather than just one of the guests. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay at the hotel was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel itself is really neat and the rooms are clean and well maintained. We felt well taken care of and appreciated the attention to detail that was provided. All in all our holiday at the hotel was perfect, the staff provided us with optimal service and we got the opportunity to relax and destress. We would highly recommend Capital Pearls to anyone looking for a holiday that's well worth the money spent.

We only stayed for one day but I would highly recommend. All the amenities within the rooms were clean and in full working order , the staff was exceptionally helpful - I ordered something for breakfast but one part of it wasn’t available and I was given a call from reception and arrangements were made to ensure that I was happy with my options , it was delivered quickly and was very tasty. 10/10 would recommend and hope to be back soon!

What a lovely property at a reasonable price, well positioned, modern finishers with add on extras like a kitchenette.
Lovely sea views, well maintained and cleaned with a lovely pool.
I was really impressed with the process the hotel implemented for COVID 19, all access areas are managed by someone that is trained with regards COVID, sanitising stations at every entry point. Social distance all over, with marked tables not to be used. Cleaning staff all wear PPE clothing including shoe covers. Breakfast is Alacarte only and the pool area all chair mattresses and covers removed.
The property is super clean and neat. Lovely place to relaxed.
Friendly staff.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, They were always smiling and made us feel like home away from home, i would advise whoever wants to go that they’ll never regret, it’s worth your money. Jonathan made sure that our breakfast was excellent and Rueben was very helpful with the baby and we enjoyed the eggs that Khanyo made for us. Gugu welcomed the baby with some cookies with a drink. Lihle checked in on us and made us feel welcome we would like to thank the front office team, Oluhle welcomed us with a smile and thanks to Njabulo for assisting with the bags.
