We enjoyed staying at Dave and Monika’s nice cottage. They are very helpfull. We walked to the village but could walk back. Dave came to collect us there. Thank you and pheanias! They have 5 dogs, like to give you a hug.

What a special place. As you drive to the entrance you pass game farms on either side of you, we spotted bush buck, black impala, waterbuck and klipspringer. Then once you arrive you are greeted by the most wonderful couple - Monika and Dave. They couldn’t do enough for us, from carrying everything to and from the car, feeding the bushbabies at night so that we got to see them, and of course Monika’s ‘special scrambled eggs’ for breakfast. The view out over the pool of the mountains in the distance is incredible. We absolutely loved our stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. And the chirps coming from all the birds in the trees outside added to the feeling that you are immersed in nature. The highlight of our stay however was Monika and Dave. We loved chatting to them and regret we couldn’t have stayed for a week. We actually wish we lived close by so that we could become friends! Please stay here! It’s a place (and hosts) we will remember forever.

Marula cottage gazes out through an exotic garden at a landscape of jagged mountains. But within the grounds you will feel entirely at home, thanks to the charming hosts and their equally charming dogs. Dave will take you on exciting adventures to neighboring game parks, too.

Do not even consider booking at another place if you are exploring Thabazimbi and/or places in the near vicinity of Thaba. This is the jewel in the crown of Thabazimbi and surrounds. The hosts - Monica and Dave are AWESOME and to add to the wonderful view and hospitality is the never-to-be-forgotten food!!! One can visit them purely for the culinary treat!!!!

Setting is idyllic Africa. Hosts genuinely enjoy their guests and do everything possible to ensure that each customer has an amazing experience. Breakfasts and optional dinners are absolutely delicious. Marakele National park is 10 minutes drive. Pilanesberg Park is less than an hour. Entire property is spotless. Covid protocols are carefully maintained. I’ve stayed at Marula Cottage four times and will stay again.
