The Hotel was obviously 'grand' in former years but with COVID 19 restrictions the management of this Hotel have really lost interest. On arrival (after an 9 hour drive) the Hotel could not offer a cup of tea or a bottle of water. Other than a limited breakfast the Hotel offered nothing (not even a Bar). The room was badly lit and not clean. I have stayed in better Hostels and at 160 Euros a night plus 15 Euros to park the car it is a rip off! The only thing going for this Hotel is easy the access to the Ferry Terminal

Fabulous looking Hotel , great location for an overnight stay whilst waiting for the ferry . To be honest the hotel is in need of paint , everywhere is looking shabby. We had the three course menu & €19 ... shall we just say it was ok ! The waiters just wanted you in and and out , not much customer service! Don’t bother with Breakfast ... Overall location to the ferry sold the Hotel and I’m sure they get lots of return customers... on that basis

I researched the area well and URH came out on top, mainly for easy access to the early morning ferry and secure parking. I did have concern about the train noise, but chose to risk it. Overall this was a good decision (for us). The area around the hotel is pleasant with a number of restaurants and a nice walk along the promenade alongside the harbour. First hurdle was parking. Although the website implies secure parking is available (at 15 Euro a night) on booking it was disappointing to see this could not be pre-booked or guaranteed. However there were a number of spaces and although parking is tight we had no problems (we have a very big car). Check in was good and the guy was very helpful. We were upgraded to a superior room (great). We asked about train noise and was assured we would have no problem as we were on level 7 and not the lower levels. The room was very small for a superior room as was the bed and bathroom. But clean and adequate and within the original and stylish old building. However the trains were still very noisy. Although the local trains stop at around 1130 heavy freight trains from the port seem to run through the night. Breakfast was fine. So why a tale of two hotels? This becomes obvious when you go down to the train station and look back at the hotel. The old elegant building sits on top of a large (and rather ugly) podium which is right adjacent to the rail track (see photo). We met someone who stayed in one of those rooms and they had little sleep. I guess if you are in one of the rooms shown in the hotels photos (the front of the hotel, which are on the opposite side to the railway) you're fine. Otherwise.............. As it was we used earplugs and were OK. Would we stay there again? Only if we could avoid the podium levels!! Checkout was less smooth the guy seemed confused and tried to overcharge us.

We were late in booking our hotel for our stay in Basque country. Hoped to stay closer to Bilbao but ended up in Santurtzi at the URH. From the street it looks like an old grand house. Only when you are on your way to your room do you notice that it is much bigger than it seems and when viewed from the back you can see that it has been added on to. A bit noisy with the train. Rooms smelled a bit musty. Our first room did not have a safe so they moved us. No coffee maker in room and the one in the lobby was not complimentary. Parking was 15 Euro per night which I thought was a bit steep.

Hello A while ago I was staying in this palace hotel. The most beautiful thing is its external structure, and the attention of the staff. Ideal for wedding celebrations. The worst thing is the noise of the suburban trains and merchandise that pass through the area of the rooms that have sea views, although to be honest, they have a very good isolation condition against noise. Maybe I appreciate lack of personnel, but the attention of it is very good. The staff has a "wristwatch attendant" that tells them where they are that there is a customer who wants to take something .. I do not know, I think little attention to the client who does not have to wait to be served. The views are good, quiet rooms, large bed and dock commode, If it catches the attention, that to be a 4 *, it does not have the posters to take care of the "environment" As I have learned, the transportation of merchandise will multiply by 2 by 2020, since the Port of Bilbao project (although it is in Santurtzi) belonging to the Basque Government, plans to expand its container capacity and traffic and passengers Recommended, but at a fair price .. on their page sometimes they do not offer the best price. Best regards
