This is a modern and great looking hotel, it was probably the best hotel in terms of western standards that we stayed in. However we felt there were a few items that let it down and with a little more attention to detail it could be truly fantastic. On arrival we were greeted with a welcome drinks, and you can take in the fantastic views. We walked up to the sunset viewing point which was beautiful. Dinner feels like quite a fancy affair compared to everywhere else in Madagascar but very enjoyable. Breakfasts allow you to take in the great sunrise, it consists of coffee, juice, toast, croissant, pain au chocolate, fruit and an egg dish. There is a small pool to enjoy if you have time. The rooms are very impressive, great views and spacious. I was very excited by the large stone bath with those same views - however was most dissapointed to find out there is no hot water - so its redundant, you cant use the bath. The other areas where i felt they could just slightly improve - they didnt refill the coffee after the first night, no creamer in the room, soft drinks at the hotel very expensive compared to everywhere else, room keeping came to do a turn down service at 8.15pm which we felt was far too late - after a long day driving or trekking we were getting showered and ready for bed at this time. No instructions or explanation in the room about anything, no information on how to get to the view point or natural pool, breakfast service was inconsistent, only the second morning we were offered eggs (not on the first breakfast) . Dont let these small things put you off, it is a great hotel but with a little more attention to detail could be even better.…
Definitely the best hotel in 18 days travel in Madagascar. The rooms (small bungalows) are so tastefully furbished - including a bathtub with a view. Good food (though not cheap) and a little pool were other highlights. I also had a massage - very relaxing!
We stayed here over Christmas 2019 with my friend and the staff was amazing, really nice room and view, great massage. Would stay again! One of those rare hotels where you can pay by card. We also visited the Isalo National Park from here which was an amazing hike with natural piscines.
Very good lodge with good facilities and a spectecular view. Water could do with more pressure. Shower is fine but the (stunning) bath takes hours (no joke, really like filling a pool with a gardenhose).
Absolutely stunning lodge in a great location a 5 min drive from the entrance to the park. We had 2 full days in the park ( 3 nights at the lodge) and would recommend the same or maybe a night more - Isalo is stunning and well worth the hiking. The lodge was amazing value - I'd recommend the upgraded rooms with the bathtub, it's not much more and the tub is very welcome after all the hiking! The pool is fab with a killer view, there's a big bar / lounge to chill out in, a massage room and a pool table. Wifi is good throughout. Food is yummy, although the vegetarian mains were always just a version of the sides from the non-veggie mains, which was disappointing since everywhere else we stayed had proper vegetarian options. The manager (super friendly, and the best English of anyone we met in Madagascar!) can organise tours of a nearby sapphire mine if you're continuing down the RN7. Lastly, big thanks to the lodge's mechanic and the other lovely guys who helped change our tyre when we woke up to a flat the day we left!…
