a beautiful piece of land - marvellous people and an amazing expierence. If you are in J'burg and have a free Sunday afternoon, go and visit Horseback Africa. You walk with lions, have a chance to cuddle and feed the little ones. You learn a lot and simply have a perfect time!

First and foremost at Horseback Safari are the people... Colin and Brandon were outstanding hosts and the rest of the staff made the weekend a real pleasure. The horses and the ability to have a true open-range riding experience was a great treat. Experiencing the lions on a knowledgeable walk watching them play and interact with each other was exciting. The food all weekend long was very tasty! All in all... a wonderful weekend out in the country-side. Thanks!!!

I stayed with the MacRae family at Horseback Africa as part of the Voluntourism project they currently offer. My 2 weeks can only be described as mind-blowing. My responsibilities consisted of bottle feeding the baby lion cub & serval, helping out wherever i could on the Horse-back safaris, assisting on the Lion Tours (walking with, feeding, and cuddling the lions!) and socialising with guests from behind the bar in the evenings. Under the careful & patience tutelage of Brandon, i went from beginner horse-rider to the Polo Field in just 2 weeks. There was unlimited one-on-one time with the lion cubs; many a sunny afternoon was spent lying in the grass as the 3-week old cub scampered around me me. During my 2 weeks i learnt an incredible amount about running a Game Park,

Stayed at Horseback Africa in February for 2 weeks. You can stay at HB just for a day (horse riding or enjoying a lion tour and relaxing), stay overnight, but I was there as part of the voluntourism program which is just an absolutely magnificent way to be part of the whole experience day in and day out. Many guests become regulars and those that I spoke to that had just booked for the day wished they had had the opportunity to stay longer. As a working guest you can partake in many different activities. I got to do the following stuff and more: feeding, cleaning cages and playing with the wild animals, horse riding and helping out novice riders, grooming, shooting pigeons of the roof (ok, that was not me, and maybe not everyone's idea of fun, but nevertheless), welcoming

What a start to the day. Within 10 mins on horseback we saw so many animals. Zebras, Wildebeest, Warthogs and babies, Giraffes. It didnt matter that half our group were fairly inexperienced, the help we recieved and instructions from Brenden was supurb. Following lunch was our walk with the lions, seeing their pet dog beth play with them as well was something to be seen. We learnt so much from Colin about what to do on the walk, how they behave and lions themselves in what they are trying to achieve here. The whole family were so passionate and the people in our group that were unsure of snakes and horses were holding the snakes at the end of the day and had the biggest grin after the rides. Feeding the cubs was amazing as well as watching the adults be fed. I will never
