First day in johannesburg was such a blast with the Colins Horseback Safari! Me and my friend booked the safari in advance via their homepage. When we arrived we were greeted friendly by all the staff and were even offered a selection of dishes to choose from for our lunch after the safari. Afterwards we received a very good introduction by our guide regarding the handling of the horses. I was very surprised by all the great details she gave us. At most other places I have visited you are simply ‘put’ on a horse which then just carries you around. However, our guide Marie taught us all about how to steer the horse and about safety rules. After this we felt totally confident for our horseback safari! During the Safari we saw almost all the wildlife present in the park such as

That's my second time at Colin's and it couldn't be more exciting! We were a group of three and from the booking via email until the end of our tour the experience was excellent, the guide that took us to see the Lions are very smart and was paying attention to our safety every time, the possiblity to meet and walking with baby lions is something you cannot miss! Thank you !!!

This place is amazing we loved every minute of our time there. Probably the nicest people you will ever meet, straight away you will feel more like a friend than a guest. Our horse back safari was fantastic got so close to all the animals it was unbelievable led by the most friendly and knowledgeable guides. Walking with the lions was an experience that I will never forget but for me interacting with the cubs was the highlight they stole my heart so hard to leave. Thank you to everyone for such an amazing day

Please do not fund these places! Animals live in tiny cages!! Two adult lions are kept in a place not bigger than 50 sq. TWO ADULT LIONS! When I pointed at that, I was told "Lions do not need big spaces, in the wild they move to hunt but since we give them food..." Tell that idiot that animals need to move, like us after all. Imagine yourself being bonded to an armchair and fed all day long. You get crazy. This is their caring for these animals.

I am so sorry, but you are mistaken. You may have seen them in the Holding camp used for medical purposes, which is bigger than what you mention. This holding camp is also used whilst the lion's enclosures are being cleaned out. Otherwise the lions have beautiful areas where they have the possibility to run and jump and play together. We are passionate conservationists. Colin has his degree in Zoology and Botany and his doctorate in Palaeontology. We would never have dedicated our lives so such an extent to what we do, if we did not have the animal's needs at heart.

Our first ever 2 days in South Africa were spent in Horseback Africa: a lovely place, in the middle of a small private reserve one-hour drive from Johannesburg. It was a perfect stay in a very well managed place where you can have wonderful horse riding for any level and see many wild animals. Guides (Connie and Nicky) were fantastic, my daughter had 2 additional rides as she is a good rider and loved it very much. She had opportunity to do a lot of gallops as there is all the place to do so … . But the special thing is the lion tour, you learn a lot on the lions, they explain their project and you can walk with 2 cubs in the nature. They also had a baby lion at that time and a few other animals. Accommodations are nice, it is very clean and the staff is very friendly, they
