Visiting the southernmost point of the continent, this B&B allows you to stay in a convenient location. The staff is very friendly, rooms have all the necessary amenities. We had the B&B to ourselves during our stay. The bar operates on an honesty system, the cigar lounge has an open fireplace, which we made use of. A healthy breakfast rounded off this pleasant stay.

This was our 2nd visit to Agulhas Lodge after our first time in South Africa in 2022. We knew we wanted to spend more time in Agulhas so made a point of booking at the lodge again. It's a charming stone building with lovely antique feel rooms, which are spacious and comfortable. Each room is named after a famous shipwreck and has a painting and details about it in the room. My husband was able to set up his ham radio equipment on our little patio! The breakfasts were great, a wonderful start to each morning of our 3 night stay. The owner Phil and his daughter Chelsea were very helpful and great to deal with. Their "honour" bar introduced me to a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc wine that I loved! We ate at several of the local restaurants for our dinners, Gavin's Trattoria being our favourite, and of course spent time at the Cape itself with the lighthouse and incredible beaches. Still so thrilling to us to have been at the southernmost point of the continent! The village itself is delightful, as is Struisbaai, only 5 minutes down the road and worth a visit to it's harbour to see the stingrays that hang around! We would certainly stay here again on our next visit to South Africa.
*One note: the lodge is (as far as we could tell) not accessible for anyone with mobility issues or wheelchair, due to the many stairs both up the entrance and then up to rooms. I think we noticed this as our aging knees were definitely feeling the steps!*

The accommodations are charming! Our room was just cozy! With a side balcony overlooking the sea, but the bed, the curtain was opened and through the huge window, you could see that wonderful sea from which we saw the sunrise. They are a family! We were very well received! A table prepared for dinner with beautiful crockery and cutlery! With small flower arrangements, bowls and sousplat that completed the charm and sophistication. The best part was the wonderful dinner! Very tasty, and don't even mention the dessert! From Gods! Everything prepared with a lot of commitment and care! The next morning, breakfast was a delicious surprise, prepared with a menu, but we could also choose some items peculiar to each one according to an individual menu, prepared by them. It was perfect! Without a doubt the best of our entire stay in South Africa! It's a shame, that throughout South Africa, there is a problem with lack of energy. But by the end of the trip we were adapting.

The owners have clearly put lots of love and attention to detail into making this a beautiful property. We loved our room with ocean view, the bed was super-comfy and the linen of finest quality. Ideal location with some restaurants, the lighthouse and the Southernmost tip of Africa all just a couple of minutes drive along the road.

This is a small family run hotel with a very friendly vibe. The breakfast is particularly good with a generous buffet and warm dishes cooked to order. Rooms are slightly dated but good size and everything you need is available (beach towels, baby cot, great toiletries etc.). Our room didn't have a refrigerator but we could use a shelf in the big one in the kitchen. The upstairs bar and cigar lounge is self-service after 8.30 PM which works just fine. Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant is not always open for dinner and there are no other really good places to go to (the town center is also not within comfortable walking distance). With slight upgrades and higher service level, the hotel restaurant could become the best restaurant in Agulhas in its own right, serving premium customers from the entire area.

We loved exploring the town of L'Agulhas and our stay at the Country House was wonderful. It has a lot of rustic charm (and stairs!) but was clean and comfortable. We loved hearing about the family history and looking at the ship wreck maps. The breakfast is certainly not one to be skipped. They provided a really lovely fruit salad, yogurt and breads. The Eggs Benedict with a twist on a more creamy cheese sauce was to die for. My eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. <chef's kiss>
The view from your room balcony is of a beach that you can easily walk to in the early mornings to hunt for sea shells and the coastal boardwalk is a short drive away.

For ONE NIGHT for 4 people with dinner we paid a total of R6120. I have reviewed my credit card statement several times and each email confirmation. They required us to settle the bill after dinner after we drank a bottle of wine and not when we checked out. We argued that we did not think the bill was correct over and over, but they insisted that we owed them an extra 500 rand at least. We paid it and we will not ever feel good about how this was handled. I think a local could have handled this better and enjoyed the stay at this hotel. After the shake down, I was very upset and I could not enjoy myself.

Dear Joel and We always appreciate feedback from our guests, however we do honestly feel that your review is maybe one-sided and a bit unfair. We apologize that you feel you had a less than satisfactory stay. We are slightly confused as to your questioning of the amount of money you spent though, you booked online and were emailed a proforma invoice for the accommodation and asked to accept it or not. you then paid a 50% deposit. You were also emailed the price of the dinner in advance and were most definitely told what the price of dinner was upon your check in, the price is also displayed in the foyer on the daily menu, so why the confusion if price was going to be an issue? We have only ever asked dinner guests if they would possibly mind settling the account the same night when there is a scheduled power outage. The reason for this is that we have load shedding in South Africa and there were planned power outage for the next morning and you would not have been able to use a card machine. This was explained to each guest that night as to avoid any confusion. We felt this option might have been better rather than sending you off to the next town in the morning to have to go draw cash in order to pay your bill. I must also mention that I have interviewed all my staff and none of them recall anyone having a problem with this arrangement at all and there was certainly no disputes about the accounts on the night we did offer for guests to settle their account or any dispute at breakfast the next morning, much less with an American family. We were honestly just trying to make everything easier for our guests, we are sorry if this had the opposite effect for you. We do feel that roughly $400 US Dollars for a family of 4 people in 4 star accommodation including a 3 course dinner and several wine/drinks and full breakfast is not overly expensive in any country, but of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. We wish you great future travels.

Very friendly welcome. Explained everything to us. Room and the whole house was kept very clean. Fantastic view of the sea from the bed. Breakfast was mega and extensive. Very quiet location. Although the road goes through in front of the house. But there's no traffic at night. Feel free to come back to you. Forgot something in the bathroom. Ten minutes after departure we received a Whatsapp message and were able to pick up the product. TOP SERVICE

What a beautifully decorated guesthouse in such a stunning location. Staff was friendly and helpful - especially Peter - and breakfast was good. We did miss having a lighting option in the room during loadshedding (like an lamp), and were not offered wifi... Didn't see wifi password anywhere, which should be standard for a 4-star.

This must have been a glorious place to stay pre-Covid or a couple of years ago. It definitely needs a bit of a shake up! The views are gorgeous, the rooms are OK with all the possible amenities that you need. It is just a bit too rustic to my liking. The mattress in our room needs a change and the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Staff was friendly enough, but when we arrived at 13h45, there was no-one to welcome us and I had to call to find out if the place was indeed open and receiving visitors by phoning. I reckon it has great potential and could once more become a very inviting place to stay, if given a bit of attention. The restaurant was closed during our stay, but offered breakfast, which was fine.
