Detailed Reviews
This was a price I won on a race. I thought we would go and spoil ourselves, even we live closeby and had to pay a bit extra.
My partner arrived first. When he arrived at the reception, they refused him to let him in the bedroom. He had to wait for me at the swimmingpool (he enjoyed it though, but felt a bit unwelcome). He left the message at the reception for me so that I know where to find him.
When I arrived, I asked at the gate if someone arrived for the booking I've made - the answer was no. At the reception, I asked if my partner arrived, same answer - no.
The receptionnist asked me to pay the balance before to get my key. I checked in and saw my partners luggage in the room brought by the room service - despite they said that nobody came for the room...
The room is nice looking, but some issues : The ceiling lamps are flashing, we didn't have hot water the first evening, the generator was just outside our window, so a bit noisy when loadshedding, but the worse was the delivery truck, the laundry truck and the big tourist bus trying to make their way and waiting in front of our window with the motor on on Saturday morning (noise and fumes...).
The breakfast was good.
I enjoyed my price, but if I had to pay the full amount, I would have been crossed.

Conveniently located it you want to be close to the northern suburbs of Cape Town and the surrounding vineyards of Durbanville and nearby Paarl, etc. But don’t expect anything fancy. It’s very average, but still decent. Had a few service and quality issues during my stay which I brought to management’s attention who kindly assisted to resolve them.

I stayed at this hotel and It was quiet I liked it. The strong point, in my opinion, is the restaurant. There are many delicious options inside the menu and I´ll recommend try a steak or pasta. Both are delicious dishes. The staff was amazing. I had been feeling at my house.
I recommend this hotel if you plan traveling to Cape Town.

Stayed a year ago. Then already mediocre. Now the hotel has deteriorated to the point that it is clear that the management just does not care. The rooms are dark and dingy, are not thoroughly cleaned. The only two pin plug was not working. TV remote batteries were dead. The shower head needs clearing of scale etc. etc. The shared facilities are not even swept regularly. Excuse, the outside walls of the property are being upgraded.
Breakfast is a travesty, servers not helpful and while some are friendly, most are not.
Until the Protea/Marroitt group becomes serious about this asset it is best avoided.

I stayed at Protea hotel Durbanville over period 27 February 2020 until 28 February 2020.
On checkout I forgot my iPad, which I was informed of via email. In my reply I informed the hotel that I would pick it up on Sunday 1 March 2020. However, upon my arrival nobody at the hotel seemed to know about it. This includes the duty manager Johan. They apparently could not get hold of the person responsible for lost and found and more than 45 minutes later they were still looking for it.
In addition, that is after I had to wait for about 10 minutes before I was assisted.
This is totally unacceptable and it actually casts doubts on my continued use of any Protea Hotel.

Booked two rooms, for my MD & his business guest from Germany. Reservations emailed me to move one guest then "recalled" the email which I was meant to assume meant the issue had been resolved. I was left with one guest at the Marriott & the other at a guest house 10 minutes away! Still waiting for the "manager' to contact me back. We then had to shuffle all our reservations around to accommodate their poor planning, including a dinner reservation. Rest assured we will not make use of your establishment for our business trips going forward

The room we were in the aircon did not work. The front of house staff did not bother to assist, the maintenance person assisted more and was sorting out the finer details of the room change. We constantly had to update our room cards to gain access to rooms throughout our stay. We received sub standard service from the front desk as no-one was able to sort out the billing issues we had.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Protea Hotel Durbanville, and I can't express enough how wonderful our experience was, thanks to General Manager Shericka and her exceptional team. From the moment we checked in, we felt welcomed and valued.
Shericka's attention to detail and genuine care for her guests truly stood out. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, ensuring that every aspect of our weekend was memorable. The restaurant team was particularly fantastic, serving us with warmth and enthusiasm that added a personal touch to our dining experience.
We felt seen and celebrated throughout our stay, which made our anniversary even more special. Thank you, Shericka and the entire team, for creating such a magical experience for us. We can't wait to return! Kindest Regards, Cynthia Abrahams

Hotel well situated for visits to Cape Town, the Durbanvulle Wine area and other wine areas. The staff is very nice and the rooms are ok - a bit dated and cracks and damages everywhere, which is not a problem. The main issue for me with the hotel is that the rooms are noisy, you can hear the next door neighbors and the sounds of TV's penetrate the walls.

+1
We had a big and spacious clean room with everything that we needed. I also used the shuttle to the Waterfront and I felt very safe. The menu of the restaurant lack a little bit of choices, a few more options will do the trick.Breakfast was good. Overall we had a lovely stay.
