Welbeloond is a boutique wine farm, perfectly located at the start of the Durbanville Hills Wine Route with 600 hectares of arable land for roaming. This renowned estate offers travellers comfortable, Cape Dutch-style cottage accommodation for the ultimate country experience. Situated a mere 30 minutes from Cape Town’s city center, it’s the perfect weekend destination, steeped in history and the scenic beauty of the Durbanville Valley. In fact, the homestead on the farm dates as far back as 1785, when it was originally used as an outpost by Jan van Riebeeck. In 1905, the Mellish family took over for wheat and dairy production, later planting the vines that would yield exceptional wines. Today, it is still run by the Mellish family, who are dedicated to the task of preserving its history, while using modern methods to offer exceptional wine-making, and allowing visitors a memorable and affordable stay. Our venue can cater for up to 120 people at a time.

The photos do not do the location justice and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
The owners are gracious and considerate and the accommodation luxurious and affordable. We spent a nice quiet family weekend away from home, and the fireplace was a definite winner.
Lots of room for little ones to run around as well as a jungle gym and some animals to look at.
Firewood is provided and was dry and of good quality.
All in all, a great place to stay.

Lucy and I got married here on the 4th February this year. Fabulous venue, wonderful friendly helpful hostess, Ingrid. We stayed over in the cottages, we hired all of them. Absolutely great. We had the time of our life's and would highly recommend this beautiful spot for your wedding/function venue and also if you just want a quiet weekend or weekday getaway.

We discovered Welbeloond through the Durbanville Hills Restaurant website and gave them a try for a last-minute (same night) booking after dinner. What a delightful surprise! We stayed in the Old Bull Pen which has been thoroughly rehabbed into a terrific self-catering cottage. Thatch roof, separate bedroom w/ king bed, en suite bathroom with fabulous shower and giant soaking tub, cute lounge with comfy couches and satellite TV, and a fireplace (we were there in summer so didn't use that). The kitchenette has a bar fridge, microwave, small oven and 2 burner stovetop, and nice table and chairs. It was more than comfortable!

Two horses tend to meander on the property - and one was obsessed with seeing its reflection in a nearby window. All added to the charm of the place.

If we're in that area again, we'll definitely try to book there again. Was a real treat!
