Lairds Lodge Country Estate is often applauded for its serene atmosphere and well-furnished rooms, though the music selection occasionally disrupts the calm setting for some guests. The staff's exceptional service garners consistent commendation, providing personalized attention that enhances guest comfort. While the rooms are generally considered comfortable, a handful of guests have mentioned that certain aspects feel somewhat outdated.
The hotel's pristine gardens, multiple pools, and overall cleanliness receive high marks from reviewers. Furthermore, the value of the luxurious accommodations and excellent cuisine is frequently acknowledged by those who stay.

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived. Our room (no 1) was very comfortable with a lovely, private outside terrace looking out onto the garden. Nearby was a very clean swimming pool (too cold to use it) with comfortable sun loungers where we were able to soak up a few rays of sunshine We were shown the evening dinner menu from which we had to choose in advance. There was a 2/3 course set menu or alternative main course and dessert. There was sufficient choice although it sometimes is difficult to know early on in the day what you might want to eat in the evening. Breakfast was very good with combination of buffet and freshly prepared hot food. The property is about a 10 min drive from the centre of Plett.

A beautiful home from home. Stunning grounds and pool. There is no typical restaurant on-site, or room service, but they do a set menu each evening at 7pm. This is delicious, so worth it. The staff were very attentive, warm and caring. Each morning at breakfast the manager asked us our plans for the day and provided recommendations and local tips. Thanks to this we managed to catch the Saturday market and dine at a local nearby restaurant (Zinzi, highly recommend!), which we would otherwise have missed. The hotel even drove us to/from the restaurant at a very reasonable cost and the driver was so nice. The room and bathroom, though really clean, is slightly dated. The bathroom more so than the room. The tiles had just been painted over and the taps really stiff. The shower pressure was rubbish. It could really do with a refresh. There was also a lack of attention to detail with no hooks for dressing gowns, a lack of plugs, hair dryer didn’t work etc. It wouldn’t put me off going back, but just not as luxurious as we expected. Otherwise a really good stay, I’d give 4.5 stars if I could.

We stayed 4 nights, would not have wanted to stay less. Welcoming, lovely service, tastefully decorated, beautiful gardens, excellent food, very comfortable and totally charming, so many lovely areas to sit and relax both inside and out.
On arrival we were greeted by Gertrude, always smiling, always helpful. Enjoyed relaxing that day on the property by the pool with drinks (they kept our bottle wine for dinner later) and one of the most delicious toasted sandwich & beautifully presented.... a sample of what was to come.
We dined out only once as it was such a pleasure to eat in. Very good choice menu and they are very accommodating for dietary. You need to chose your menu by about 4pm understandably. Smartly they provided us with their mobile so we could communicate on WhatsApp if we were out. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast, all fresh, perfect spread. Loved that they prepared a beautiful plate of fruit/yoghurt/muesli on your table setting in the morning. Everything cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.
Rooms are very well appointed with everything you should need, we were in the Luxury Rooms which look out to the small 'forest' pool, felt very private and so relaxing. Bed super comfortable, good linen and towels, excellent shower.
The gardens are something else, beautifully landscaped, gorgeous plants, flowers & trees, not a weed to be seen. It is a total delight, hats off to their wonderful gardener Chris.
Also want to give a mention to Bani and Eddie who were always there with a smile and a helping hand including mixing great cocktails!
If we lived closer, or even in the same country, we would happily return frequently.

My wife and I were only at Lairds Lodge for one night as part of our honeymoon tour in South Africa, which was a great shame as from the moment we drove through the gates until the moment we drove out next day everything was perfect! We were given room 1 which is spacious and beautifully decorated with its own terrace right outside which overlooks the beautiful garden and pool. Each of the pubic areas, bar, library, restaurant and reception are beautiful. We had light lunch outside which was brilliant, the salad and dressings fab! We were served dinner in a private little dining room - excellent! Breakfast was individually cooked fresh. The fruit, cheeses, pastries, cereals, etc were very generous and of a high quality. All of the staff were very welcoming and made us feel special with all of the little detail they provided.

We stayed in seven hotels in South Africa during February and Laird's Lodge proved to be the best experience. The accommodation was on the ground floor and comfortable like a studio apartment and the main farmhouse has all the attractions of Colonial South Africa. The staff are well organised and prepare fine dining accompanied by a stylish wine list. The lodge is surrounded by attractive gardens and has two swimming pools. The location is off the main highway adjacent to a Riding school and also a few miles outside Plettenberg so quieter and more exclusive for the global traveller. In fact my agent recommended another hotel but because of the architecture we chose Lairds Lodge.

Too bad it could be a gem (photos), a beautifully landscaped blooming garden, great lounge areas, a pool area that is perfect for relaxing... however, the pool is not kept clean, the decor in the rather dark rooms has certainly seen better days, the breakfast leaves a little to be desired. The staff is friendly, helpful and also striving, but everything seems a bit sloppy despite decoration. The price/performance ratio of 300 € per night/room is unfortunately not right....

We had high expectations of this Country Lodge, however it wasnt quite as expected. The staff are great, the place was lovely BUT it was too dark for us. The first room we had was quite cold and the heating section of the aircon wasnt working, But when we told them, we were immediately moved to another room which was much better. The food was good and they have a bar to use for pre dinner drinks. The nice touch for us was that they put us in a wine tasting room for dinner on one night when we were the only guests. After the second day, we had to ask them to change the background music which was far too modern and made us feel we were in an Ibiza night club! It was changed straight away and was fine from then on. However we shouldn't have had to ask and their choice of music wasn't reflective of the surroundings. Maybe that will now change.

We arrived at Lairds Lodge after being on safari and it was ideal for chilling. This is a beautiful house with wonderful gardens. The swimming pool is in a lovely part of the estate and has plenty of chairs. The staff were all friendly and cheerful and go out of their way to give you excellent service.
The breakfasts were amazing with a large self service buffet and then a big choice if you wish to have a full cooked breakfast. We had dinner in the hotel one evening and that too was lovely.
Our room was spacious with tea and coffee facilities and complimentary cake.
It is ideally situated if you want to visit Plettenburg Bay and we also visited the Robberg Nature reserve and Birds of Eden. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this charming hotel.

Wow what can I say about this beautiful lodge that will do it justice. My friend and I stayed there for 3 nights towards the end of March 2023. It’s is absolutely stunning, set in wonderful manicured grounds. The staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble, the chef is fantastic. The breakfast was freshly cooked to choice and there was an abundance of delicious cold foods, fruit, yogurt, cereals, cheeses and freshly baked pastries. The 3 course dinners were some of the best I’ve ever tasted and extremely well priced. I loved it there and would go back. It has a lovely pool and comfortable sun beds. I can not praise Lairds Lodge highly enough. It is very close to Plettenberg Bay where there is a beautiful beach. We wished we were staying longer.
