Guests are made to feel right at home. The park is large enough to have novel game experiences with very knowledgeable, friendly guides. Surprisingly varied terrain. Comfortable suites and lovely shared spaces. By far the most exceptional staff and good food. Electric blankets and a fire were provided in the winter; suites are huge. Guests do need to walk with a guide to and from the lounge and restaurant at night. Lovely experience.
We had an excellent time at Lions Valley. The lodge is beautiful. It was amazing to see animals from your room deck. The food was excellent. The whole team was great!! We got massages and they were amazing. My wife said it was one of the best massage she has gotten. The game drives were awesome. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The lion and elephant sightings were fantastic. We stopped for morning rusk at two amazing places overlooking the river. The reserve is beautiful.
We traveled to South Africa from the US. A friend of a friend who is a park ranger out there highly recommended this place. Everything looked great and the price was much more affordable than some other places so we booked it for 3 nights—ended up driving there from Durban. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations. The safari we expected to see animals in the distance, but we saw every animal there within 20 feet of the vehicle. Our guide Nicholas was excellent and expertly found these animals in this huge beautiful area. And then everything else was great too: huge luxurious cabins, great meals and very friendly and helpful staff. Couldn’t recommend Lion Valley Lodge highly enough.
There are really no words to describe how luxurious and comfortable Lions Valley Lodge really is. Outstanding comes to mind. How about Superb? Our suite – the appropriately named “Romance” – was enormous, gorgeous, filled with light, comfortable, hedonistic. Appropriately for the region, all stone, thatch, wood, and light. In two cases, I did not get what I wanted – a room assigned near the main facilities and no bath tub but.... Not to worry. Golf cart pick up and delivery on demand – one just doesn't walk in Nambiti; the animals own the territory; we are their guests. Tub overlooking the valley? No problem. Use one of the two showers instead – one outside, the other inside with views of giraffes that might amble nearby. The hosts knew better than I did exactly what I would love. Huge mistake on our part – we should have stayed longer. Three nights (and 5 game drives) just didn't give us enough time to relax and enjoy the fabulous accommodations. We were too busy. I can see why some of the other guests have returned several times to Lions Valley. They also far preferred Nambiti over Kruger NP, but I cannot comment personally about that, having never been to Kruger; but, if I were ever in South Africa again, I would head back to Lions Valley set amid rolling hills, valleys, and mountains. We certainly saw plenty of animals, thanks to the park management and our driver, Jordan – lions, elephants, white rhinos, tons of giraffes (my favorite), zebras, warthogs, wildebeest, kudu, Cape Buffalo, and even 2 cheetahs strolling along with our vehicle. Two hippos have taken up residence in the Lodge's pond. Not only is Lions Valley beautiful, it is beautifully managed. The three ladies who seem to run the place were efficient, friendly, cheerful, and always available. They have also decided not to expand (they have the land to do so), but to remain smaller, more intimate in order to provide personalized service and keep the prices affordable. Their decision certainly works to the advantage of the guests. The central area includes spaces opens to the environment but closed off with glass partitions – open decks, infinity pool, comfortable library for quite times, a bar for post-drive gatherings, open terrace for breakfast and lunch, fireplace dining room for dinner. The outdoors define the interiors. Meals were serve at appropriate times – breakfast following the early game drive; dinner following the afternoon drive, but with time for cocktails or a freshen-up. The spa – wonderful massage – is an added bonus. Each drive stops for either coffee and biscuits at dawn or a wine break at sunset. Quite civilized, I thought. Frankly, I don't know what else to say other than Lions Valley should head everyone's list. Absolutely everything was gorgeous, beautifully run, and a delight. I want to be there again – right now, this minute.…
Lions Valley Lodge is an absolutely unbelievable place! From the point of the warm arrival greeting to the very sad departure goodbyes, we were treated like royalty. From the tasteful interior of the rooms and lodge itself, to the dining experiences with our attentive waitering staff and the phenomenal game drives - I cannot fault this place at all and cannot wait to return! The staff pay attention to the most intricate details, from housekeeping to the waiters, management to rangers - what a fantastic team! Thank you to Matt, our Ranger - your knowledge and insight will always be remembered! Thank you again to the entire lodge for a wonderful time!
This is now my third visit to Lions Valley and once again, it was the most amazing experience! Our Ranger, Matt, was incredible. So much knowledge and always got the best views of the Big 5! Can’t wait to come again!
10 years of many international trips, covid hits and travel halts. We always hear the saying “explore your country, support local”, which is 100% true. Our visit to Lions Valley Lodge was amazing from the beautiful accommodation, friendly team from the rangers to all the staff. The team always went the extra mile and treated every guest with love, care and making sure our stay was everything we want in a holiday (rest, good food and great sightings of the big 5 on our game drives). From our room we viewed quite a lot of the wildlife from many varieties of birds to waterbuck, impala, springbok, warthog, and the highlight was the lions stopping by for a photo shoot on the morning of us leaving. Not sure who was more shocked when there appeared, but to be so close to them was truly a memorable experience we won’t forget. We where spoilt when it came to the food, every meal was well thought out and catered for every pallet and nothing was an issue to prepare. It was a five-star experience everyone should treat themselves to. Thank you Lions Valley Lodge From Tanya and Kumaran Naidoo…
If I could give more stars, believe me I would.. When I say I had the absolute time of my life, this is no exaggeration! The staff are so attentive and friendly, the service is second to none, the food was so good, the lodge itself is absolutely breathtaking and so so so clean! I would also like to give an enormous shoutout to our wonderful ranger Matt.. I did not stop laughing and smiling from ear to ear and every drive was as enjoyable as the next. Even despite the awful weather in the beginning, Matt continued to remain enthusiastic, positive and made sure we were all smiling! I think I speak for the entire group that he made our time at Lions Valley Lodge, and we are already planning to come back as soon as we can. Thank you to Tommy, Nick, Greg for being good sports at the bar! And to the rest of the team, you were incredible… book this place, you will not be disappointed! Will miss you all ❤️…
From start to finish this was a amazing place, we arrived late with the worst rain fall in years but the rangers were there waiting for us to take all our bags. It was completely amazing. I was stupid enough to get sunburnt on the second day whilst in the pool and Tommy and the other rangers could not do enough for me to make sure I was ok. The food they provide was amazing when you get back from your morning drive the breakfast was there ready for you. Your room was all sorted out for you. The range of alcohol was good. The drives were brilliant the rangers were full of knowledge and information Me my wife and the party we where with had the best of times. We really can’t thank you all enough for making that part of our holiday amazing
I booked our stay as a birthday gift for my beloved wife. To the LVL team I just want to say thank you so much for making our stay so amazingly special. Everything including the service, the game drives, the rooms and setting was in our opinion as close to perfection as humanly possible. While this may have been our very fist vist to both LVL and Nambiti the place has already cemented a special place in our hearts and would certaily love to return for future visits.
