Really safe and secure guest house right on the beach. You can walk to all the restaurants in paternoster from here. The beach is a stones throw away and accessible by a few steps from the rear of the property, our room looked directly over the beach. The staff are fab, and on the second morning the host served up fresh lobster and scrambled eggs which was delightful. I’ll book again next time I visit

This small guesthouse is in a lovely location right on the beach, with gorgeous views from our room’s windows and balcony overlooking the sea, beach, and sunsets. The weather wasn’t nice enough to enjoy the beach or balcony much, unfortunately, but it was lovely nonetheless. Our room was well appointed, with high ceiling, a very comfortable bed with nice linens, good AC unit for heat. It had good internet, and TV with a few channels. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful, and we were able to enjoy the main area downstairs for drinks with our friends before dinner (with social distancing), as we 3 couples were the only guests. As other reviewers have noted, the breakfasts were excellent – an egg muffin cup (like an omelette with spinach, bacon, cheese, etc in the shape of a large muffin) one day, incredibly delicious lobster and eggs on toast another; with fruit, coffee, juice. The guesthouse is a short walk from the shops and harbor (and famous Wolfgat restaurant) of Paternoster, and you can take a nice walk along the coast to the lighthouse and beyond to Tittiesbaai (or further)…Even in the chilly, somewhat rainy weather, the scenery was gorgeous and beach with big clouds (and rainbows) dramatic. We enjoyed our 2-night stay very much.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Albatross room which overlooks the boulders and small beach which are easily accessed from the front of the property.
The room was nice and airy but I found the bathroom a little small when trying to use the washbasin as the glass side of the shower are very close.
Breakfast was excellent each morning with different offerings from the usual.
The staff were very friendly.
It's a steepish uphill walk from the property into town for the restaurants and be warned everywhere closes early - very early, so make sure you have some wine in your room.
The sunsets each night were wonderful and very photogenic looking over towards the lighthouse.

Though the views are indeed stunning and the staff is friendly and helpful, I wouldn’t book again.. At this price, you’d expect a breakfast with more choices than just 1 hot option, juice concentrate, filter coffee and ‘ winkelbrood’ you could toast… Our biggest irritator was the so-called ‘strict no smoking policy with designated smoke-areas ‘ which turned out to be right outside on every guestroom’s balcony! So we literally had to beg the neighbours in the adjacent room to pléase refrain from smoking and vaping outside ( as I am severely asthmatic ) Which they ignored completely so goodbye view and sunshine. Why is it that those horrid smoking/vaping creatures are being so facilitated ?? Shame.

The owner is a terrible human being very customer unfriendly and sarcastic. Rooms are dirty and outdated and the carpet is swept with a broom. Bed was small 140x180 The breakfast is very sober and the coffee is from a jug as well as the tea.what so also to coffee taste! After breakfast all the shutters close so it feels dead! NEVER AGAIN!!

The place is the most dirty we ever have been to. Reception was very quick, only a few information and then the staff disappeared and was never seen after. It was a spooky atmosphere and an awful and disgusting smell in the house - we felt lost. After a very short information we checked the room ourselves and found used bedlinnen with hair of the guests before us on it. The highlight was the bathroom - massive fungus in the shower, worn out and tworn towels and an almost empty plastic bottle of liquid soap as an "amenity". Not even the fantastic view from the balcony onto the atlantic ocean couls hold us from running away from this inhospitable place. When you consider the prize you feel ripped off.

The location of the property is great, on the beach and a walk away from several restaurants. There is some construction going on that is not great but once this is out of the way it should be fine. I suggest you check this before you book your room.
The kitchen and cleaning personnel are friendly and helpful.
The manager left me with the impression that she is just going through the motions and is not all that interested in making one's stay memorable. We booked a stay for 3 days and we were 4 guests yet we were allocated the smallest rooms. It was cold and rainy and would have made a difference if the fire was lit and one could sit in the dining/living room area. There are many small ways you can make your guests feel welcome and make their stay pleasant.
I am not sure why guests rave about the plated breakfast, it is what is to be expected at a four-star establishment.
The interior is lovely but the place lacks soul.

Stayed in Albatross room, large with balcony looking out to sea. Only downside was small bathroom, nowhere to put toiletries but on the floor. So when had a shower the water covered the bathroom floor and the toilet bags. Not even a hook on the back of the door in the bathroom to hang anything. Breakfast was excellent and staff friendly. Unfortunately no generator , most of the properties we stayed in have them now because of the amount of time with no electric. Something the owner may consider to make guests stay more comfortable.

We stayed here for one night after a few intense days in Cape Town. Getting here was the perfect break. Mariana is a wonderfully welcoming and hospitable woman who makes you feel at home. The rooms are very nice with great attention to detail and the location in Paternoster is fantastic with proximity to the sea and in a quiet area. We recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants a well-deserved break on holiday.

A beautiful location and a neatly decorated room with sea views. A very friendly and welcoming hostess. Two points of attention: if it says that there are 'designated smoke areas' then in my opinion this is not the balcony where there is an ashtray everywhere and where we therefore suffer a lot from the smoke from the neighbors. Furthermore, I believe that the price per night at Linhof (R3600,-) is far and far too high. A good but very simple breakfast and not the real luxury you can expect for this, especially by South African standards, price.
