The Food. This place is incredible, booked quite late but was lucky to get my dates for my March 2021 trip. The location is good, very quiet part of town, literally one street from the beach, and with a stunning beach view from the upstairs balcony, though not uninterrupted. I had an upstairs room which was comfortable and quiet, lots of light, spacious bathroom with a tub and separate shower. More than enough parking on the street, with security overnight, it felt perfectly safe. With the boring stuff out the way - the best part: the food! By good fortune, I enjoyed two breakfasts and a dinner prepared by Arnold. All of which were incredible. When was the last time you had a three course breakfast, including home made granola which we watched him make, and home-made ice-cream! Arnold was also kind enough to accommodate a dietary request, and did so with no issue whatsoever. The dinner he prepared, was an incredible experience in itself, without tons of detail - a few courses, all picture perfect, and all incredibly special. All done in the intimacy of his kitchen while he and Annelise were perfect hosts. Every dish plated immaculately, and every course exceptional. His home-made Tiramisu is the stuff dreams are made of!! If you are anywhere near Paternoster, and do not stay here...you have missed out on a truly unique experience. Cannot wait to return!! Arnold and Annelise are terrific hosts, very friendly and up for a chat late at night over a glass of wine, or perfectly happy to leave you to your own devices. Cannot recommend highly enough!

We had the pleasure of staying a couple of nights at the end of December together with friends. We chose 2 rooms upstairs next to each other (aaah! and oooh!) and they were both perfectly comfortable, good airco and pleasant. Wonderful. The common areas such as the terrace upstairs and the lounge downstairs are so perfect for relaxing. The decor is in very good shape, modern, artistry... Breakfasts are something to look forward to and you will be in good hands. Above all, we loved Arnold and Annelise... they are not only kind and superfriendly, but also interesting and great company. We will be back, that's for sure ! Thanks Annelise & Arnold, from Tommy, Sandra, Connie and Bart. Keep up the good work !

A bit late, but rather late than never... My friend and I spend the last two days of our vacation at the beautiful Ah! Guesthouse in Paternoster. What a gem! Annelise and Arnold Hoon the owners of the Ah! Guesthouse have created a little oasis of sheer indulgence for their visitors. The Ah! Guesthouse is across the road from the beach in Paternoster. In the beautifully appointed rooms, you will find everything a 4-star Guesthouse should have but the difference here is the personal touch, from the beautiful Earth products in the bathrooms, the gorgeous Kimono’s and slippers, the tea tray with coffee & tea as well as the most divine shortbread, baked inhouse by Arnold himself. The house is home to some gorgeous Artworks from various South African Artists Johan Botha, Christiaan Diedericks, and Diane Heesom Green just to name a few. As for the meals, prepared by Chef and Owner Arnold Hoon, what an absolute treat!! I have eaten in many an establishment around the globe yet the idea of finishing breakfast with dessert has never occurred to me and let it be known I have a sweet tooth. I am the woman who will have dessert before I have my main course given the choice. Should you be lucky enough to be staying over on a Saturday you can enjoy a special 4-course meal cooked by none other than Arnold. I have heard so much about these Saturday evening dinners, but sadly we couldn't make it this time around. All in all the Ah! Guesthouse is one of those rare gems in the South African Tourism Industry that is well worth a visit. For those of you that have enjoyed the fare at Ah! Guesthouse you have the opportunity to purchase some of the items to take home with you. Arnold and Annelise sell small quantities of their Shortbread and Granola. Dear Annelise and Arnold, thank you once again for spoiling us the way you did. We hope to see you again soon.

Made a wonderful discovery- a very lovely, well situated guesthouse right next to the beach. The breakfasts are out of this world and it’s worth the trip just to have dinner by Arnold, who is also a brilliant chef. The guesthouse is super organized, super clean and super neat.
