A bit late, but rather late than never...
My friend and I spend the last two days of our vacation at the beautiful Ah! Guesthouse in Paternoster. What a gem!
Annelise and Arnold Hoon the owners of the Ah! Guesthouse have created a little oasis of sheer indulgence for their visitors.
The Ah! Guesthouse is across the road from the beach in Paternoster.
In the beautifully appointed rooms, you will find everything a 4-star Guesthouse should have but the difference here is the personal touch, from the beautiful Earth products in the bathrooms, the gorgeous Kimono’s and slippers, the tea tray with coffee & tea as well as the most divine shortbread, baked inhouse by Arnold himself.
The house is home to some gorgeous Artworks from various South African Artists Johan Botha, Christiaan Diedericks, and Diane Heesom Green just to name a few.
As for the meals, prepared by Chef and Owner Arnold Hoon, what an absolute treat!! I have eaten in many an establishment around the globe yet the idea of finishing breakfast with dessert has never occurred to me and let it be known I have a sweet tooth. I am the woman who will have dessert before I have my main course given the choice.
Should you be lucky enough to be staying over on a Saturday you can enjoy a special 4-course meal cooked by none other than Arnold. I have heard so much about these Saturday evening dinners, but sadly we couldn't make it this time around.
All in all the Ah! Guesthouse is one of those rare gems in the South African Tourism Industry that is well worth a visit. For those of you that have enjoyed the fare at Ah! Guesthouse you have the opportunity to purchase some of the items to take home with you. Arnold and Annelise sell small quantities of their Shortbread and Granola.
Dear Annelise and Arnold, thank you once again for spoiling us the way you did. We hope to see you again soon.

Been at this wonderful guest house for many a time and we are really never disappointed . Wind down at this lovely place withe the quirky rooms and relax ...
Arnold and Annalise will take care of the rest. They will book your dinners and if you are lucky Arnold will cook once or twice during your stay Arnold is a chef and his food will make you forget the 'Wolfgat hype ' . Onsite parking and beach a couple of meters away......what more can you want ?

What a fabulous place. Arnold and Anelise are amazing hosts and nothing is a bother.
The house and rooms are delightful with lots of eclectic art and artefacts which are a delight to the eye.
Arnold is the most amazing chef. Breakfasts were a culinary delight and unfortunately he has set the bar so high, that breakfast will NEVER be the same again!
They serve dinner on certain evenings and if you happen to be staying on that night, dinner with them is a must. His cooking is a thing of beauty.
The location is great, in fact a couple of steps and you are in the beach and it’s a very easy walk to the attractions of a very quaint little town .
We will definitely be back.

We travelled in threes and occupied two rooms. On arrival we were initially told we had booked only 1 room, but the error corrected and excused after a short time.
The house is magnificently decorated and the rooms tastefully decorated.
Breakfast from the master of the house prepares a culinary experience. His much praised dinner we unfortunately could not enjoy during our 3 days.
I found it irritating that after Arnold asked to have breakfast on time at 9:00, the hostess harshly declared that I was too early to sit down. It was 8:56 a.m.!!
My wife was told by the cleaning staff that it was only after we left that the bathroom and toilet would be cleaned, after she complained that she had found her own hair in the bathroom on the second day.
After the whistle at breakfast I honestly did not dare to question the accuracy of this statement with the landlady
Conclusion: beautiful guest house in a prime location, with a host-born Arnold Hoon.
If numerous reviewers mentioned not having met the hostess, they probably got lucky !

The small guesthouse is situated very close to the beach. Rooms are tastefully decorated. There are communal sitting areas with sea view. Lights and plugs are working during loadshedding which is great. The downstairs room has carpet, smallish bathroom with tub and shower and a private outside sitting area. Delicous 3 course cooked breakfast is served at 9 am around a long table. Nice atmosphere.

Overlooking the seashore and a seven mole beach to walk along what could be better for rest and relaxation. In addition the added bonus of a meal expertly cooked by Arnold you need not to look no further than this wonderful B&B. A laid back environment whilst at the same time meeting interesting people from all over the world makes this a unique experience.

We had the pleasure of staying a couple of nights at the end of December together with friends. We chose 2 rooms upstairs next to each other (aaah! and oooh!) and they were both perfectly comfortable, good airco and pleasant. Wonderful.
The common areas such as the terrace upstairs and the lounge downstairs are so perfect for relaxing. The decor is in very good shape, modern, artistry... Breakfasts are something to look forward to and you will be in good hands.
Above all, we loved Arnold and Annelise... they are not only kind and superfriendly, but also interesting and great company.
We will be back, that's for sure !
Thanks Annelise & Arnold, from Tommy, Sandra, Connie and Bart. Keep up the good work !

Ah Guesthouse is a small jem and it was so good to stay there again. The last time I was there, I was travelling with a good friend, this time I was there with my mother. We had an amazing two days here. Everything is just perfect about Ah Guesthouse. The rooms are very comfortable and cosy, the art all over the Guesthouse is great, and the deck on the upper floor is great for reading and enjoying great views. Breakfast is really good, and if you are lucky and book ahead, you can also enjoy a great dinner from "Masterchef" Arnold. Ah Guesthouse is just perfect, in a way I cant describe. I guess you have to go there yourself, to experience it, and to know what I am talking about.
Thanks a lot Annalise and Arnold for your amazing hospitability, for the beautiful guesthouse, the great food, the good wine, and for making us feeling very special and welcome. I hope very much that everything will continue well with your health Annalise.

Everything about our stay was perfect. The location is great for exploring the west coast and you can walk to the beach from the guesthouse. Beautifully decorated rooms and lovely outdoor terrace to enjoy. The highlight has to be the dinner and breakfast cooked by Arnold! Sensational food and wonderful hospitality. I hope to one day be able to return!

For us, a return visit 3 years later. Somehow, even more delightful than we remembered if that is possible. Whilst this 5 star BnB is for everyone, Foodies will be delighted by the Breakfasts and if you are lucky, an evening gastronomical experience! Such great hosts. Highly recommended.
