I have stayed here 3 times once via booking.com and twice by booking directly. The Hotel is ideally situated for the Airport. Taxi cost is less then 10 euros. I actual walked from the Airport to Hotel, as I was travelling light. It has a small but well positioned outdoor pool. The breakfast is varied but with adequate, not over abundant but enough in my view, it did include boiled or fried eggs, sausages or bacon plus baked beans, along with the normal continental choices. The rooms are well presented with A/C light and airy. Santa Cruz is a quaint village and has a few eateries. It doesn't have the hum and attractions of Funchal, but represents an excellent value place to explore the island from. Highly recommended.…
The stay was very good. The location was very central. The room was very neat and lovely. Everything is so new. It was christmas time and the hotel was beautifully decorated. Real christmas feeling. Breakfast was continental. A variety is available. The staff were very friendly I recommend this hotel for whoever visits Madeira.…

I had the pleasure to visit Madeira in October 2017 for the first time. The fifth and last stop of my tour was at the Hotel Solar do Bom Jesus in Santa Cruz. Overall, the hotel looks very modern and well maintained, and is only minutes away from the sea. Another advantage: the airport is also not far away - in this respect a perfect hotel for the last day of travel. The room: absolutely fine, quiet and clean. The staff was exceptionally nice, friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was small, but very nice. Only drawback: the pool is really small: ok for splashing, but definitely not for swimmers. All in all, I was absolutely happy with my stay at the Hotel Solar do Bom Jesus and would / will definitely choose it again for my next trip.…
I've tried to book this hotel but i've never received any confirmation of my reservation either from them or booking. However, I saw that the hotel debited my bank account of 390€. After discussing with Mr Antonio FREITAS, the managing director, he simply told me that he cannot do anything to refund me because of accounting issues. I've never seen a client being treated like this in my entire past tourism experiences. This hotel is a fraud and his director a criminal.…
