Drinkwater Guest Farm is located between Ermelo and Amersfoort in Mpumalanga and offers warm South African hospitality and the peace and tranquillity of a beautiful working sheep and cattle farm. The farm acquired its name during the Anglo-Boer war thanks to the clear fresh water springs found on the property. Drinkwater Guest Farm is the ideal stopover between the Drakensberg and the Kruger National Park. We are only two hours away from OR Tambo International Airport.

Exceeded expectations. We were kindly first messaged re confirmation of arrivals times and then greeted by our hostess Zelda. What a friendly and efficient hostess.
The accommodation was very comfortable with wall heaters and electric blankets in the rooms. The rooms themselves were clean, freshly decorated with both a bath and separate shower in the en-suite rooms.
Breakfast was made earlier for us on request as we had a long trip ahead of us that day. Thank you.

We stopped here for only one night after an overnight flight from UK to South Africa. We wanted somewhere a couple of hours from the airport on our way to the Kwazulunatal coast and game parks. Ermelo fitted the bill but we read it could be noisy as there are a lot of trucks passing through, so we looked for somewhere quieter but not too far away. Drinkwater guest farm was perfect!

We were warmly greeted by Marianna and shown to a lovely spacious room. We were able to park our car just outside so it was easy for bringing our luggage in and out. Marianna suggested we should go for a walk after our long journey and we followed her advice. On returning to the farm we were able to buy a beer and sit and relax before dinner. Dinner (which I’d pre-booked) was great! Lovely home-made food, with a choice of chicken pie or mutton stew. I tried both! And they were both delicious. There were plenty of accompanying vegetables including a mini pumpkin/squash shell stuffed with creamed corn. I had never seen it before but am now a big fan!! There were also some really nice accompanying wines and the whole meal came to the price of a main course in a UK restaurant (including the beers beforehand!)

There were three other guests eating that evening plus Marianne and her husband. We all ate at the same time but at separate tables to maintain a social distance. It was a very convivial affair and I could have stayed for longer had we not been so tired. Two of the other guests were returning for their third visit, and the other guy had been staying there regularly on a monthly basis for many years! A good recommendation!

Breakfast the next morning was of a similarly great quality, especially the coffee!! We were sad to leave and felt like we’d been treated like one of a large family. If ever we’re back in that area looking for a night-stop, we won’t look any further!

The rooms are spacious, very beautiful, but there breakfast is the best. Fresh fruit salad was the winner and there main breakfast is well prepared, not oily. Staff are friendly and they waited for us, when we arrived late in the evening

Just between 15 and 20 minutes from Ermelo in Mpumalanga, you will find Drinkwater Guest Farm, nicely located alongside the road. The reception was very good. I was met and received by Mariaan who led me to my room. Ermelo is a bit cold so I found heated electric blankets. I enjoyed my breakfast as well. Their omelette is to die for.

Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Food was excellent, service exceptional. Mariaan and Petrus treated us like family and Angel was constantly anticipating our every need at table. It was mid-winter when we were there but everything was provided to make us warm and comfortable - wall heaters, winter sheets and electric blankets. This is an overnight stop I highly recommend! Far from town, there is no traffic noise and the only sounds disturbing the still night was the farm's resident sheep ocassionally complaining about the cold!

Accommodation was out of this world. Comfortable and extremely neat and tidy. Attention paid to even the small comforts such as a heater and electric blanket which was a spoil on a cold Highveld night.

Wonderful hosts, scrumptious breakfast served!

Would 100% recommend, will definitely return.

Enjoyed my stay at the venue. The room was spacious, enjoyed my sleep as the bedding was heated. The reception was absolutely great and I enjoyed my breakfast, their omelette is to die for. This is a farm, 15-20 minutes drive from Ermelo in Mpumalanga.

Our regular stopover on the way from Durban to Kruger. Well located, safe and home away from home hospitality. Host is very accommodating and friendly. Rooms are great. Winter sheets are a spoil in this colder part of the country. Ask for dinner, don’t tell my wife but better than home cooking.

We used Drink Water as a stop off point en route Hluhluwe to Joburg.

Well equipped room, inc fridge and microwave (v useful), very good breakfast, lovely gardens.

Host Mariaan most helpful, as was admin lady Rhiann (apologies if mis-spelled).

Thoroughly recommended.

A wonderful tranquil guesthouse in the country. The rooms are clean and spacious with attention to detail in the amenities. The beds are extremely comfortable even with heated blankets. A delicious breakfast was provided the next morning. The gardens are spectacular. The owner Marianna was so welcoming and friendly. A great experience
