If pictures were anything to go by then this is the perfect place for a weekend getaway especially when you need peace and quiet. Terrafou boasts a beautiful landscape on the banks of the Limpopo river. You will experience fresh air and beautiful sunsets. If you are a sucker for a starlit night, then this is the place for you. I will highlight a few things we were unhappy with during our 4-night stay. 1. No clear cancellation policy. We had asked for a refund due to Covid restrictions over the holidays and we were told that it was impossible to get a refund on our full payment 2. We asked for Kubu camp upon booking, but we got Middle Camp 3. We were offered breakfast on our first morning and subsequently served expired yoghurt, chewy pancakes and bruised almost-rotten fruit. We had cereal. (We were asked to pay for this buffet "breakfast" upon checkout) 4. This is a self-catering lodge which was not communicated to us and as a result we had to drive 10km everyday to a nearby lodge to eat 5. The place was infested with stink bugs which we found unsanitary 6. Upon taking a walk around the lodge we inspected Kubu camp and found it bedraggled which explained why we were placed in middle camp 7. We had tea on our second night and housekeeping left the cups in the room for another night 8. The staff disappears during the day and there’s no one to assist if the need arises With this said, I would neither go back nor recommend Terrafou to anyone until it is cleaned up, general information on the internet updated and overall sanitary.…
The visit was far beyond expectation. The reception was very good and the atmosphere excellent. No noise except the birds and elephants passing. It is worth it to sit and see the sun set in the afternoon.
We booked to stay here in January, which is their low season. We confirmed our bookings and room specifications months before arrival with an all inclusive package. Unfortunately on arrival the lodging we had requested were given to what we were told to be the board members of the lodge. Subsequently the rooms we were given was ok, but definitely not the out door deck experience we had been anticipating. Additionally the kitchen attached to our rooms were not clean. We had to clean all kitchenware before use as this was full of spider webs etc. In general from a service perspective we definitely did not feel taken care of. Although the kitchen staff and chef was wonderful. The poor service we received really places this lodge low on my recommendation list, which is a shame it has so much potential. …
Lovely woods, all green landscape, well kept self catering chalets, decent food and hospitable staffs. We really enjoyed our two days stay at Terrafou and the beautiful view of Limpopo river and the wooden deck. The place is well kept and the staffs were very helpful and taking good care of us. Safe for kids too.
We found the visit extremely relaxing. We did not use their kitchen but our own braai was good. The rooms were excellent! Extremely nice place to just relax. The staff were ready to help but stayed away when not required. When going or returning from Botswana this is a wonderful to stay for a couple of days, or just going there for some time. Highly recommended. ,
We explored the Tuli Reserve on an adventure motorcycle and ran into some technical problems with the battery. Even though we arrived after sunset without prior notice, the kind staff accommodated us with tremendous hospitality, delicious warm food, a fire and a beautiful, clean room right on the Limpopo river.
