We are a mature couple and needed some time out for a few days. On arrival we were greeted with a smiling member of staff, we were offered tea and directed to the well stocked table which is kept open all day and into the evening for visitors.
This is special, we have not found such service anywhere. Usually tea or coffee bags are in the rooms. Here, they are in the rooms too!!
We decided on the all inclusive rates and the luncheon spread on offer was amazing and catered for in detail. The evenings were as special, the staff so helpful but not overpowering. Dining Room is impressive and clean, tables beautifully arranged.
Our bedroom was very comfortable and as the rest of the Hotel and surroundings are, clean.
For a short break this Hotel was like an oasis, the walk on the beach was pleasant, swimming is possible on an open beach when the weather allows.
We returned home with a warm conented feeling, having met some wonderful management and staff who go out of their way to please their guests. We will certainly have Pumula on our list for another visit to the South Coast.
The Hotel has a library room with comfortable seating, the decor is beautiful, a great patio to sit and watch the waves, and, a very special entertainment bar for the adults where we were told much fun is had. (something like a little man-cave?)
A small area stocked with a few items you may have forgotten is available.

Dear Truter, It sounds like you have a knack for writing, thanks for your detailed feedback. We are happy to hear our efforts don't go unnoticed. We are too valued for our location and proximity to a Blue Flag status beach... a hop, skip and jump one might say. We'll catch up in Joe's next time for a trip down memory lane. The walls are framed with interesting history, character, articles and memories that are well worth perusing. All the best for 2020 to you and family, and hope to see you back in the not too distant future. Kind regards,

the Hotel is situated in Umzumbe area and facing the see. it has a pool as well and shower outside if you come there you have to bring along your swimming costume and gym clothes. I had to go and buy swimming clothes . The sea view and walking on the beach meditating was my best part. the place has friendly staff and a big place for dining.

food is well prepared on order and very tasty. Once you eat their breakfast, there is need for lunch.

the problem I experience was the network connection which was poor. so when you visit the place have a sim card for MTN at least and Wifi- is only at the reception not in the room.

otherwise if you want to come and relax away from anything else, PUMULA BEACH HOTEL is for you.

Dear nokuthlam923, Thank you for your positive review of your recent stay with us. It is great to hear you took advantage of our seaside location and spent time reflecting with long beach walks. Our gym, albeit small and simple, does provide for a good workout if required... there will be some upgrades soon so watch this space! We are thrilled to read you enjoyed the staff company and meals. Our WiFi has been recently strengthened with a microwave link to provide the best possible service, although Umzumbe is quite sporadic at the best of times. Thank you once again, and look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards,

Needing some sun after the rain in Gauteng we headed to Pumula Beach Hotel for a break. Our room on Fishermans Row was comfortable with great sea views, and we arrived in time for lunch, which was delicious with great variety. The weekend approached and families were well catered for, the Friday afternoon pizzas a real hit with everyone, not just the young.
Covid protocols have been well set out, and the traditional Saturday braai had a superb variety of meat and vegetables/salads.
A short walk to the beach and tidal pools, the blue flag beach is clean and the swimming great. Relaxation time at the heated pool with a cocktail was bliss.
The Games Room was well used by all ages, with many varied games available.
The staff were always friendly and efficient , the all day tea and coffee station worked well, and the freshly baked afternoon treats were delicious.
Valentines Day was made more special with the tables appropriately decorated, and the sparkling wine, chocolates and rose petals, and a menu to match.
We look forward to our return to this gem , as were so well looked after!

Dear Pam W, Great to hear from you and we are glad that you enjoyed many aspects of your stay. The chefs will be happy to read of your positive sentiments with reference to the food offerings, and we are appreciative of your feedback regarding the varied meals and dishes on offer. The pizza oven continues to prove popular, with no additional costs for you. We have set out our COVID protocols to first and foremost comply with best practice and to protect staff and guests alike by ensuring that our already high standards of cleaning are maintained, with more frequency and in areas of high traffic. Thank you once again for your insight, which I am sure prospective guests will read and this will hopefully entice them to return or run away from the rain and experience the hotel for themselves. Kind regards,

Hubby and me needed a break, so he booked and off we went. Three days of sheer spoil and relaxation. The service is amazing, the rooms are absolutely all you need, its an old fashioned place but the upkeep is on point. Staff are pure gold, they do everything to make your stay as pleasant as they can. The kitchen team unfortunately I did not meet them, but all I can say about them is WOW! The food is really excellent, there is not a meal that is not well thought out, beautifully presented, tasty, special. The heated swimming pool after a long hot mountain bike ride around the surrounding area, was just the best. The beach is clean and the surroundings of the hotel are also clean, which was quite a surprise for us from Ethekwini. We actually never saw litter anywhere, and our bikes were quite safe even left outside the room. Definitely a place to take children if you have them, everyone there is geared for kids, the food, the playground, the pool, there are movies for them to watch. All in all, a wonderful fabulous experience.

As return guests (having been going to Pumula since before kids) we were pleasantly surprised by the myriad of improvements to the hotel over lockdown. From minor tweaks to decor to major changes to the buffet area and pizza oven (and the pizzas are amazing) they have raised the bar for beachside family getaways. The sea views from the extended verandah are outstanding and when the kids club is running it's a perfect place to enjoy the new wine list. There is a beautiful tidal pool a short walk down the beach, take one of the hotel umbrellas on a hot day and let the kids splash while you watch out for dolphins. A wonderful family resort with 5 star elements like the staff, the food, the kids entertainers and the location.

Dear TimB5874, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay with us. It's good to hear from you and hope the family are all well. We are all thrilled to read that you enjoyed the new and upgraded elements of the hotel which we worked so hard on during the lock down period. We are excited that we can offer even more variety to our inclusive food offering, the pizzas being available on a rotational basis for kid's dinner and for all guests the following afternoons in season. So far they have been well received and the best thing about them? They are free! No extra costs to you, our guests. Your feedback on the other elements of your stay are appreciated too. Thanks again for the positive review and wish you and your family a blessed festive season. Kind regards,

We have been lucky to visit Pumula Hotel regularly over the years, with each visit it just gets better. The food is more refined, and there is now a pizza oven (the pizza chef knows what he is doing!). Recent upgrades to the lounge areas include a fully enclosed space with sea views for rainy days. The beach is just spectacular, especially at low tide if there is a sand bar. 2 heated pools and kiddies indoor and outdoor play areas and holiday programmes, morning to night time. Who needs the mission of flights and expenses to Indian Ocean islands.

The position offers lovely sea views and the rooms that we stayed in were well appointed and comfortable. The surrounding is well landscaped and you feel a sense of peace and tranquility.
The staff were very friendly and obliging and the food was the best I have had at any hotel. The hotel is a very easy trip from Durban and I will definitely be back if they ever run this amazing special again. Excellent value for money.

I joined friends who had come from Jozi to spend a week in KwaZulu Natal south coast. I spent two days and one night at Pumula Beach Hotel and loved every minute of it. The staff was friendly and warm, the place was neat and beautiful. The food was delicious, they really went out of their way to cater for my dietary requirements (lacto-ovo vegetarian). The views were stunning, it was great to sleep and wake up to sound of the ocean in the background and the weather was perfect for 2 full beach days. I also love the fact that all their staff are local people and their uniform is made out of African print fabric.

It is nice to see that you and your friends, first time visitors to Pumula Beach hotel enjoyed it so much. Our family of 6 were fortunate to spend 5 very relaxing days at Pumula in late June. We had heard this is a popular destination for families to unwind and we were not disappointed…this hotel is kid paradise! Secure, with so many engaging activities catered for all ages, our kids were thoroughly entertained – and our oldest two made friends with other kids and wanted little to do with us!

The hotel also has a warm, relaxing and easy atmosphere…we all felt very much at home! Set in lush gardens with beautiful views of the ocean with a pathway down to the beach, playground and pool.

For an all-inclusive resort, the food was simply outstanding and really made our visit! A special shout out to their Chef Sam who took our gluten free diets very seriously…arranging delicious gluten free options at each meal and consistently checking in with us. Gluten free pancakes – delicious! Freshly baked gluten free burger bun = THE BEST BURGER BUN EVER!! Our waitress Slindile was really special too! All the staff were so helpful and friendly.

We would love to return to this hotel in the future!

A pristine, idyllic lush tropical beach resort experience which was reminiscent of previous Mauritius resort holidays.

Gorgeous sandy beach front with lifeguards manning a swimming portion of the beach as well as the granny pool to splash in and rock pools to explore. Thereafter we returned to the hotel to lounge and enjoy milkshakes at the heated pools. A perfect day.

The kid’s club was incredibly well run with fun activities which were so enjoyed by our 7-year-old who enjoyed the safety and freedom of the resort.

The food was varied, plentiful and absolutely delicious. The friendly and proficient staff members went out of their way to make sure we had the best experience. We cannot wait to return to this very special place.
