Wonderful quiet location with beautiful gardens. Accommodation was extremely comfortable and well maintained - hand sanitisers in the rooms and around the building.Large room and bathroom with complementary products & hairdryer. Lovely thoughtful touches, water and hot drinks facility in the room plus a small fridge.Breakfast offerings were a real treat, huge choice with speciality teas.
Our room had amazing views over the countryside and as no light pollution -star gazing was lovely way to pass the evening.
We felt very welcome and intend to book again.

Second visit to Cleavers Lyng which is in an undoubtedly superb location in a quiet country lane (no through road) and charming rooms to match with adequate and excellent safe parking. A superb 4 night stay was enjoyed with the guaranteed highlight of the wonderful Cleavers Lyng breakfasts – at which a wide choice of fresh and excellently cooked choices are available. Good wi-fi reception and overall ambience. Very pleasant hosts who also gave most helpful support to this guest who left his phone charger in the room. Already safely returned! Thanks again!

Enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was very good, Owners very welcoming, room was very hot indeed but as an old building heat travels upwards. Quite a drive to any town etc. for an evening meal as a rural setting so very quiet and peaceful.

Was very happy to go here on the first week open after lockdown for husband's birthday Our dog was welcome which was the reason we chose it Saved having to find a dog sitter for the old boy and he loved coming!
Covid protocol all in place and didn't detract from the enjoyment of the visit Was very clean and we had the balcony room that has stunning views over the Pevensey marshes and the owners beautiful gardens. Lovely walk down by the church.
Breakfast plentiful and all ok with some homemade touches!
Lots of places to visit close by that are dog friendly like Herstmonceaux Castle Bateman's House Battle Abbey Even the Observatory which is in the castle grounds ( no dogs) was ok can park right outside and only took an hour so he was fine
Would recommend if you have a dog like us and want to take it with you

This B&B is situated in a very quiet and tranuil setting in the Sussex countryside. We had a lovely view over towards the South Downs and our bed and bedroom were
very comfortable. The owner, Sally made us very welcome and served a delicious breakfast on both mornings.
On a personal note we stayed here with my parents over 20 years ago and have found it as nice as ever!

A beautiful, well appointed 16th century house, with a lovely country garden and large parking area. It has a tasteful dining room with period features, but ornaments on the windowsill were laced with cobwebs. The bedroom was small with large furniture, but views from the window were spectacular. The bed was uncomfortable with a heavy duvet. There were cobwebs on the light fitting and the en-suite was drab, with a rusty radiator and dust on the skirting board, although the basin unit was very smart. Stains on the skirting near the toilet were off putting. A nice feature was biscuits and bottled water in the room and the breakfast was superb! Another feature of this establishment is that dogs are welcome.
We were recommended to eat at the Bull’s Head at Boreham Street, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Lovely peaceful stay in historic accommodation with beautiful views of the South Downs in the distance. The photos on Facebook don’t do it justice. Our room was nicely decorated and furnished, the shared lounge and dining room were too - all were in keeping with such a historic building. Excellent breakfast with premium quality produce. Generous portions and options, a s welcome tea/coffee tray in room had lots of choice too. Some might have found the bathroom shower a little snug and it certainly wasn’t a power shower, but you have to make allowances for the privilege of staying in such a beautiful old home.

Perfect! In every way. Sally the owner couldn’t have been more charming. Rooms spotless and the views were amazing. If this review sounds gushing read some of my others. My wife and I visited Eastbourne from a railway station nearby (Norman bay ) well worth a visit. Local pub was waste of time on a Tuesday evening, no food as it was quize night. Other pub 2 miles away said it was fully booked.

Beautiful house in gorgeous gardens surrounded by peace and quiet! We stayed in the French room , very comfortable bed and great shower
We are quite active and we’re looking for somewhere that is quiet and relaxing to rest between activities. Sally was great with communication and the breakfasts were super , and have a good vegetarian option. Would stay again

We originally planned to stay just one night but had such a wonderful experience we could not tear ourselves away. We chose the Balcony room, fabulous to wake up to a wonderful view and birdsong and to leave the doors open for a lovely breeze. Plenty of space in the en-suite ,bed was huge and very comfortable. If the icing on the cake was the excellent breakfast then the beautiful gardens were the bonus win-absolutely fabulous stay and would love the chance to go again.

"We had the Sunny Room - and it was! I'd say the room with the balcony would be the best so you can enjoy the country side views."
