As a backpacker owner myself, I popped in here just to meet the owner when passing through town, but ended up staying the night because I fell absolutely in love with the place. The owner has put so much effort into the place, and has set an example of what all backpackers should aspire to.

The rooms? Beautiful and well priced. The bar? Fully stocked. The staff? Impeccable.

If you are a backpacker wanting to visit Kruger, I recommend this place above all others as it is easy to access from Pretoria or Johannesburg and as close to the park as you will ever get.

We stayed in Kruger View Lodge in the beginning of March 2013 for three days four nights. We had three people and had a two story room. Loved the decorations. The room opened up the balcony overlooking Kruger. The meals were so good! Dave made Braai one night and also made pasta. I went back for fifths. :) The safaris were also great. Becky took us out for two days. She's so passionate and obviously doing it because she loves animals. She made us an amazing breakfast overlooking a river with hippos. She took us around for 12 hours! In the afternoon, we were face to face with lions sleeping on the road. In the evening we we got back I took a dip in the pool and played with the three loving dogs. One negative would be no door to the toilet in the room.

I only stayed for 2 days, it should have been longer. I wanted to see Kruger whilst I was in South Africa and I couldn't really justify the cost of some of the safaris as i had planned to go on a trip through zambia anyway. My hostel in CT, capetown backpackers told me to go and stay here and go on one safari with them. It was excellent, I saved so much money and had a much better time than an organised trip. Dave, the owner is the great, he's like a mix of safari guide, chef, bar man, and mate at the bar. Everyone should go and see Dave, its worth it just to spend an eveing with him!

Had a Brilliant stay at Kruger view, The management were fantastic and ensured we had a great stay. Went oood spot for n a guided safari with Kruger view for a Good price and saw the BIg 5 Three times over! The room was huge and sheets were regularly changed. really good spot for getting into Kruger and ideal as the large proportion of the animals are found in the south east of the park. The beer was cheap at the lodge which was perfect for us and the owner Dave gave us a great experience of what kruger has to offer!

I have traveled to Mozambique for the past 10 years and have stayed over at the lodge every time I go to Mozambique. My family and group was received in a way that you feel comfortable and immidiately at home. The owner Dave had all our requests ready and made one of our group's birthday special. Thanks for your excellent service.

Clean basic accommodation and good communal facilities, with a very helpful and friendly reception.

The only problem we experienced was the soft uneven mattress on the bed in the downstairs en suite bedroom.

We will definitely stay here again.

We were staying at the lodge over the December period. I would not recommend this lodge as we experienced the following.
Rooms were dirty with old chewing gum still stuck against the walls, the linen and bedding was terrible, one bed was broken and completely worn out . The actual mattresses were so thin you could feel the holes and planking on the bottom. Needless to say we did not manage to get any sleep. Outside bathrooms cleanliness was also n great concern.(We did not even make use of this)
Except for cleanliness overall service was poor, we were greeted with little enthusiasm and then the owner of the lodge arrived he went straight to the coach in the living room and took a afternoon nap. We booked dinner at the lodge on arrival and was instructed that dinner will be served at 19h00 we only received our meal at 20h30 that evening.

This is defiantly not value for money and images on the website of the cabins are false advertising.

My overall impression was that the lodge is highly unprofessional and not serious about their customers and their satisfaction.
I would not recommend this lodge to anybody.

The beautiful and affordable lodge is 10 minutes from Kruger Park. It was so peaceful and felt like our home away from home. The charming two dogs guarded our room throughout each night of our stay. Aside from the comfortable and 3 star hotel like accommodations, there’s also tons of entertainment and fun at the lodge. You can relax by the pool, watch TV or movies, read a book, play games, surf the internet and eat a delicious South African home cooked meal. Dave and his accommodating staff were very knowledgeable about Kruger. They told us specifically where to go in the park to view the exotic animals.

We stayed for 1 night at the dorm which was ok and clean but too expensive for a dorm. Bathroom and toilet was with the room but the whole room was smelly from the toilet, not too bad though.
The owner or staff are really nice and friendly! And we could use the kitchen and plates.
