Had a fantastic three night stay in a family room. The rooms are well equipped with high end finishes and the self-catering aspect makes your time easy when travelling with a family.

The meals however were well prepared and the portions are generous. Additions to the breakfast and dinner menu would however go a long way.

Overall, the staff were amazing, they catered to every need and the views of the crocodile river at sunrise and sunset are plain wonderful. After staying at this lodge, I don't think it would be worthwhile to stay anywhere else, except if it were within the Bon Group of Hotels. The convenience of staying 5 minutes away from the KNP cannot be bought.

Shout out to John at reception who went out of his way to ensure that nothing was left wanting during our stay. Shout out also to the kitchen staff and Sarah who checked on us every so often to ensure that we were comfortable.

Recently spent a quick weekend getaway at Buckler's Africa Lodge with a small group and we had the most incredible experience!

The view from the viewing deck is absolutely spectacular - we had two Leopard sightings within the first 4 hours of arriving!

Personally, I loved sitting on the deck enjoying my coffee whilst looking out at the beautiful (and teeming) Crocodile River.

Our room (the family room) had all the amenities you could dream of, and I was genuinely impressed by the modern finishes and cleanliness.

Thank you so much to the wonderful staff - special shoutout to Miguel and Sarah for making our trip so memorable. Jerry, the Kruger wizard,

From my arrival being welcomed by the friendliest staff , insisting to carry my bags. My service requirements had been made clear, all my food would be room service, do to my hectic work load, which was made so easy with a in-room phone , dialing 100 as described in my welcome letter. Food and service was exceptional !!

the rooms have desk and chair tables in front of the bed, furthermore balcony table on patio , lastly in the lobby of the room was a lovely breakfast table with a low having modern contemporary mood light above (3 areas to conduct zooms or get comfortable whilst working in the bush !

amenities spread was replenished with Nespresso coffee pod machines replenished daily, soaps, body lotions , 1,5 liter waters , fresh milk in the fridges and coffee and Tea station loaded with white and brown sugars ,teas and coffee sachets

The hotel is nice, recently renewed but it is Hallal, which was not informed during the booking process.
For the price you are charged, you have limited options of food, you have to keep asking the staff for food, the reception closes early and the staff is helpful, buit with limited resources to help you.
It´s nice located and close to the Crocodile Gate but the fact that you are not infomed that its hallal and that you have to go for a bottle store to get a beer + wine is very disapointing.

Having stayed at Ngwenya, Mjejane and Marloth Park, I can safely say this is the best place for a couple to use as a base when exploring Southern Kruger.
Being just 5-7 minutes drive to the Croc Bridge gate, you can easily be at the front of the queue when the gates open.

As for the lodge itself, it is opulent. Really comfortable and spacious, it is also really peaceful. The shower is lovely, beds are firm and comfortable and all the amenities in perfect condition.

If you have children, Ngwenya would probably be more suitable, as they cater for them.

The menu needs some improvement, as lunch is just a few light snacks, while the supper menu resembles that of a Gordon Ramsay Restaurant, with too much focus on presentation.

The rooms were clean and very well layed out

What made our stay extra special was the service of the staff from the general manager, duty managers, waiters and waitresses. Special mention to John, Sifisiso and SaMaria. They were outstanding in going the extra mile for the guests

Food at the restaurant was top notch and came plated as if though you were eating at a fine dining restaurant

Well done to the owners of the Bucklers Africa Lodge for maintaining and running this property immaculately

Have you ever walked into a lodge and immediately felt at home? Well, that is what happened to me when I arrived at Buckler’s Africa Lodge by BON Hotels a few weeks ago.

A special mention to the staff:

This lodge has one of the friendliest staff you will come across. I love how seriously they take guests' feedback and always try their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

The Food:
I think what surprised me the most about this lodge was the delicious food I indulged in throughout my stay. We opted to eat at the restaurant instead of cooking in our unit.

Each meal I partook in got me excited for the next dish. The food was well presented and delicious – a special mention to Chef Eddy who made me one of the best malva puddings! I’m salivating just thinking about it right now.

The food at the restaurant is halaal.

Suggestions: Try the Fish & Chips or Beef curry if available.

The Safari:
Kruger National Park is huge, I’m so glad that we got to see a little of it with Jerry (our guide) from Buckler’s Africa Lodge who has over 21 years of experience in the park.

What about the room?
We had a family room that was spacious, extremely comfortable, and clean. The view from the room is one of the many reasons why I will go back. 😉

Really stunning accommodation. The unit 10 in which we stayed was superbly appointed. i liked that the kitchen and living/sleeping we separate even though this wasn't a one bed unit rather a studio apartment. really spacious. given the odd shape of the unit, it was well designed. large living/sleeping, comfortable sized bathroom. great appliances. views of Croc River. and the clncher, given the cleanliness, no needs for slip slops in the shower.
Some constructive criticism if i may. on checking in, our unit wasn't quite ready (though we requested early check-in), not a problem if the host simply said, 'hey guys, unit isn't ready, have a seat on the deck, we'll get you some coffee's while you wait.' boom everyone woulda been very happy.

This was my husband and my third visit. This time our daughter, son, their spouses and grand kids joined us to experience the Buckler’s hospitality. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The food and the home comforts are what we come back for each time. We had the option of dining at the fully halaal restaurant that overlooks the crocodile river or self catering (we did both). The staff are very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Sarah always goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome and very at home. Thanks again Sarah and staff.

This was my second trip to Bucklers Lodge, the last one being in February 2021 when I stayed for 2 weeks. I stayed in the same chalet this year and it felt like I was home again! Bucklers is a very special place; the scene over the Crocodile river is beautiful and you can bathe in the pool watching the wildlife. The rooms are so clean and have everything you need for self-catering, which is what I chose. However, you can order meals from the menu at any time. The Wi-Fi is excellent even though you are in the bush! I must make special mention of the incredible lovely staff who are so welcoming and friendly. Every morning you will wake up to birds, and often the elephants on the river. I did not have a car but had a couple of drives into the Kruger park (only 10 minutes away) with Jerry who happened to be a bird enthusiast, as I am. What a treat it was to go with someone who knows the birds! I highly recommend Bucklers to anyone wanting to have some peace and quiet. I stayed over 2 weeks and I will come back. Thank you so much to all the staff for a wonderful time!

We asked Buckler's Africa to arrange a game drive for us - which they did - and it was the highlight of our trip. We did self drive as well, but the opportunity to be with a professional guide, on an open game vehicle should not be missed. Buckler's use a brilliant team called Chase'in Africa and they lay on a picnic in the bush, give you all the game info you could ever want - it is awesome. You book and pay through Bucklers though. We had lunch in the Kruger, and self-catered in the evenings at Bucklers but there are a couple of nice restaurants in Komatiepoort. No fine dining - just easy, casual dining. Komatiepoort is about a 10/15 minute drive from the lodge. In terms of airports, you can fly into Johannesburg and drive. It is about a 4 or 5 hour drive. Or you can fly into Nelspruit - but that is much more expensive.
