Everything in this place worked, but the environment right next to the beach seems to make maintenance a bit difficult.
Some things we noticed were some mould on the ceilings and walls in the rooms, the perimeter fencing in a state of disrepair in places, and a lock of keys for the rooms in the apartment. The duck pond and play area could probably stand a clean-up some time as well.
The beds could have been longer as well.
For connected people, there was no wifi or TV, and our Vodocom broadband signal was also hit and miss. However, that is no fault of the resort, and due to it's remote location.

However, the apartment was very spacious, and we had a great view of the beach. Just about everything needed was there.
The price was very reasonable compared to other resorts on the Wild Coast, and suitable for families.

We had a very good lunch in the restaurant on Sunday (closed for Sunday dinner), that was good value for money. The menu could use a little inspiration and make more use of the local seafood (nothing local seemed to be on the menu), but we really enjoyed the Sunday lunch that was served.

Would definitely consider staying here if visiting the Coffee Bay area again. Great proximity to the Hole in the Wall attractions.

The roads into the resort are not great, but the resort is worth navigating them for.
The views are amazing and the beach was clean and never got too crowded.
The chalet was well appointed but the bathrooms are in need of an upgrade and housekeeping needs improvement.

If you’d like easy access to the famed Hole in the Wall, this place is ideal as it’s within easy walking distance. Just look out for the fake ‘guides’ who insist you can not go without them. Not true and quite safe. But the accommodation could use much improvement. Unwelcoming and uninformed staff, mediocre food, and old rooms with mosquitoes that kept us up all night.

We co-ordinated a weeks holiday for 2 pensioner groups of 60 each in August and September 2022 to Hole in the Wall.
The reception, service and overall support afforded to us seniors was excellent. Staff were very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. The resort manager TK was very accommodating and helpful enuring that all our needs were promptly attented to. Kudoos to his team. The picture pefect location and scenery of the unspoilt area was really appreciated by all.
A great holiday destination for a, quiet peaceful getaway from the pressures of urban life. Highly recommended.
Gordon Govender and friends.

Chalets are rustic, haven’t been well maintained, missing some of the basics in the kitchen, smelly, damp, toilets are worn and look dirty. We haven’t had water for 3 days due to power outage and generator not being able to pump the water from the water tanks into the larger chalets. Manager is rude, didn’t offer guests bottled water as compensation for the water outage. Staff didn’t bring buckets of water to fill up the toilets to flush them. Manager sent us 2 hours back into town to buy 5l bottles of mineral water at our own cost to flush the toilets with. Our rubbish bin is overflowing and no staff member has collected it. Such a pity as the beaches and hiking are absolutely beautiful, so I’d love to find somewhere else in the vicinity to stay in order to enjoy this beautiful place.

I booked a 4 sleeper Chalet only to be given a smelly rundown backpackers apartment. I was then told the place I had booked was not available and that online booking do their booking separately and they made a mistake. I was accommodated for the night in chalets I had not even bargained for. After traveling from Pretoria I had to separate my guests and was highly embarrassed as we had brought food and amenities to share the 4 bed double stores chalet as per the site. Nothing is as per the website. We had to after waiting for hours to at least get something to sleep for the night,

The 70 km after you turn of a relatively bad road, is terrible. Full of potholes and animals, allocate 2 hours of drivetime for the 70 km
Unit is fairly basic, and would be fine if only it was clean
The stinking blanket on the bed has not been washed in years.
The morning we woke up to the whole kitchen and living area full of rat pee and dung
Luckily we slept with the bedroom doors closed

No ice available at the bar / restaurant area

Hole in the wall itself is beautiful, but not worth it

The hotel was clean and the facilities as advertised. The staff was super helpful, especially the manager Damian. A stay here is well worth while. I mostly made use of the restaurant - it was good, but I do recommend bringing some of your own food to make use of the self catering facilities.

Stayed at unit 9 last week. Moulded ceiling. Shower and wash basin too tiny. No bin bag in the kitchen bin. No toaster. No floor mat at entrance of unit. Chest drawer in one bedroom broken. No proper drainage of rain water, so forced to step into mud pool to get in and out of our unit. Bed comfortable. Lovely new fridge and kettle. Staff helpful and trying to assist at all times. No aircon, but when we asked for a fan, we were given a good one. Locals can be over zealous to play car guards or tour guides. But we send them away with tact. Luckily our group was big enough to feel safe. 15 kilometres or so before reaching First Resort, be careful of potholes. SUVs and 4x4s are great but we saw people arriving in normal cars too. However normal cars may not be a good idea in case of rain. One of most beautiful places to visit in SA. Breathtaking views. Memorable hikes. Full of fresh and pure air. Great fun on the beach. A must visit area but beware of accommodation! There is no job pride regarding maintenance and attention to details. Oh and try to pass the Mthatha town before business peak hours.

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay. It is very apparent that the staff have been very well trained and are attentive, gracious and efficient. The management went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure, even aranging for us to be driven to see the Hole in the Wall and the Baby hole in the wall. We would easily reccommend anyone to go and visit. The one negative is that we feel that the units could do with a bit of an upgrade, they are very clean etc, but a little on the tired side.
