Niven the manager is beyond good and helpful.
The accommodation is basic ( maybe three star) the breakfast is outstanding for the level of the accommodation.
Fruit salad and yogurt every day, full cooked breakfast every day and make your own toast.
It’s hard to explain how nice a person Niven is …. Just visit Ghekos and you will see.
We stayed 10 days and enjoyed every minute

Leonie and Roger are the perfect hosts: they take care of your before you arrive in Coffee Bay, give accurate directions to arrive sane and safe. Since we arrive at 7 pm, when the few restaurants were closed they cooked us a basic but superbe supper. Breakfasts are excellent, always with a "gourmet touch", given by Roger, also the cook. They can also suggest where to go, what to do, how to go (take their advice!). Absolutely charming people that make you feel like you know them since ever. The Wild Coast was one of our highlights in our Durban-to-Capetown trip and our stay at Gecko´s contributed a lot to this. Cannot argue with previous reviews here: clean, peaceful, relaxing/relaxed and friendly, absolutely friendly.

Roger and Leone as you can probably tell by the other reviews are so warm and considerate that their hospitality alone would encourage me to recommend their bed and breakfast to others. You just dont find that kind of quality and attention to detail very often these days. The rooms were old fashioned but clean and very adequate. The fridges in the rooms very handy and the ceiling fan was a life saver in summer. This is my third time to Coffee bay. As a student I stayed twice at Coffee Shack and while it serves its purpose as a party venue for students it really isnt conducive with peace and quiet which I value more now than I used to. So Gecko guest house was exactly what my girlfriend and I needed. The breakfast is epic! and the price is SO reasonable. If you're going to Coffee Bay where you stay is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned....Gecko guesthouse

What lovely hosts. From booking with Gecko Guest House we recieved all the information we needed from Roger, on how to get there, what to be caeful of on the way down, and how to find the guest house.
The room was perfect, you have a mosquito net to cover the bed at night, shower is lovely and hot, and forceful. Fresh milk and water is supplied.
We were given a list of where was available to eat, and Roger phoned ahead for us for where we chose.
Lovely breakfast, fresh fruit, followed by a cooked breakfast, perfect enough to see you through the day.
We had two comfortable nights here, and Roger helped us with the next leg of our journey even calling a friend to ask which would be the best route for us to take, and telling us we'd be passing Nelson Mandelas house, which I wouldnt have noticed had I not known to look out for it.
Thank you Roger and Leonie, I'll definitely recommend you, and if we ever come back to Coffee Bay, we'll be back with you.

Having reached Coffee Bay following the advice "Don't drive on the left of the road but on the road that is left", the Gecko Guest House is the best that can happen to you: a beautiful garden in front of your room, peaceful sleep, and a marvelous breakfast the next morning. All thanks to your incredibly friendly and helpful hosts Leonie and Roger.

We had a wonderful stay at the self-catering cabin at Gecko Guest House for 4 days. The unit was comfortable and clean, providing everything we required. Thank you Roger and Leonie and we hope to be able to do so again soon!

On our long drive from Durban to Cape Town, we decided to make Coffee Bay one of our stopover points. Anyone who has ever done this trek knows it can be a bit off the beaten track so the best thing for a traveler at the end of this leg are comfortable accommodations, pleasant host and a cool place to possibly grab a beer without having to jump back in your car to do so. Staying at this BnB offered that and more. The accommodations were quaint and our host were some of the sweetest I've ever come across. After settling in we walked minutes away to a cool bar at a Backpackers and the next day went for a swim in the amazing beach cove, also just a few minutes walk away, before heading back on the road. Our breakfast was delicious and Roger, our host, even cleaned our car windows for us before we left. So gracious!!!!! Shame we didn't stay longer but I will refer anyone to this treasure at the end of the road. - Patty

Such a nice couple run this quirky b and b in an old colonial feeling house with adequate rooms, showers, fans etc. and the best breakfast of our our three week holiday. We should have stayed longer to explore this out of the way 'hippy' village. But try not to arrive in the dark; the one hour drive from the N2 is potholed and very rough. Well worth the diversion, though.

We travelled extensively across South Africa and stayed in all sorts of places. Gecko's really stands out for us though. Roger and Leonie really made us feel welcome and at home. I felt as if we had made friends, even though we only stayed there for 2 nights. The room is simple, but warm and comfortable, giving you everything you need. The breakfast was delicious, particularly the fried banana. I also really appreciated their attention to detail; remembering that I don't eat meant and substituting that with a hash brown, and that my husband drinks more juice than usual.I hope we are able to revisit this special couple who offer a special spot in a very special place in the world.

Also great hiking nearby! Pics below.

Even if Coffee Bay was very disappointed, we did the right choice because the hotel is very expensive and the 2 hostels available are not our cup of tea. The local is quiet, clean and close to the beach and the hosts are great. They helped us a lot by advising and even scheduling dinners and hiking. Thank you Roger and Leonie.

The road is in a fair condition. You can go with normal car roadworks are taking place on the last few kms. Just watchout for potholes.
