Those who have written the previous poor reviews have never stayed in a hotel in this region before. On previous trips I've stayed in a hotel down in the gorge which was dirty, cold, and decrepit (it's currently rated here on TA at 4.5 stars), and have looked into several of the other hotel rooms and turned them down due to lack of hot water or clean linens. We ended up here at the top after our booking down in the valley was "lost" by the proprietor and he wanted to send us to his sister hotel which was IMHO uninhabitable. The Timzzillite not only has the hands-down most breathtaking views, which are impressive to wake up to, but the staff were welcoming and made us a last-minute delicious hot meal as well as warmed our rooms with heaters and extra blankets (clean!). Each room has an antechamber with windows and opens up onto a large patio which perches at the edge of the cliffs. The water is plentiful and hot, the toilets flush, the breakfast comes with the traditional breads, olives, coffee, juices, preserves, and eggs. Perfect start of the day. Our host told us that this hotel is ostracized by the many hotels in the gorge, and somehow they are not allowed to access the valley's electricity. The hotel runs on a solar panel and a generator, only utilizing the energy when guests are staying. So in some ways, it's more ecologically balanced than the other hotels. Yes, it's not up to par with a more modern space in a larger city, but it's pretty darn good for a locally run lodging (compared with foreign owned and managed places). Shop local. Give these guys a chance. Would definitely stay again.

The view - that is it. Avoid this hotel. I have traveled a great deal and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Get out of your car, take in the view, then get back in your car and stay anywhere else. We booked 4 double (queen size bed) rooms. I have an email from the hotel that all rooms had private balconies. Not one of the rooms had balconies. In fact only one room in the entire hotel has a balcony. One of the rooms had six single beds - dormitory style. Not what we had booked. We arrived late at night after a long day of driving due to unseasonal rainstorms. Just getting to the hotel was a challenge as the road had been washed out with mud and rocks from a landslide. We tried calling the hotel, not sure if we would be able to get across, but the phone number on the listing does not work. At the hotel the manager informed us the hotel doesn't even have a phone. This is not a hotel for seniors or anyone with disabilities. There are numerous steep steps (several floors) down to the rooms. No railing to hold onto and no lights. I had my flashlight out just so I could see the steps and not fall. Rooms are basically concrete caves. The floors were filthy, with no rugs or other coverings. One room the toilet didn't function at all. The surly staff person just shrugged about the problem, not offering to do anything until I said we would not be paying for that room. So he went and got the manager and they came up with a partial fix, but basically the toilet didn't flush. In the dormitory room the water wouldn't fill the tank, so the couple staying in that room had to use the shower hose to fill the tank to get it to flush properly. The room with the non-functioning toilet was moldy and musty. The walls were filthy, with damp areas, ceilings covered with spider webs and exposed electrical sockets (not exactly up to safety code). I would not have been at all comfortable if we had small children with us. In our room I went to the dirty bathroom to brush my teeth. Turned on the faucet and water shot straight out at me, soaking my pajama bottoms. There was no way to turn the faucet down. The manager told us not to use the sink - what? Then he proceeded to spray water all over the bathroom floor. Didn't offer to mop up his mess. We had no extra towels, so now we had a dirty soaking wet floor. Breakfast is bread and jam. Good coffee. At check-out the clerk tried to overcharge us for the room and for breakfast, which was clearly included in the room price on our booking. Fortunately I had the confirmation which clearly had the price. I asked for a discount because we had two rooms where the toilets didn't function, one where the sink couldn't be used, and no balconies. But no discount was offered.

The menus of this place intentionally show no prices for drinks. You must ask before you order or they will hit you hard! You will be charged 20 times the normal rate for a small mint tea. Their mint tea costs more than a grande Starbucks coffee in New York City. If they cheat so much on a tea, what else can you expect. Stay away. Several nice places down in the gorge!

Great hotel and restaurant in Gorges du Dades. Room and restaurant terrace literally on a cliff - amazing experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good food (dinner and breakfast). No wifi, but you don't need it as you are enjoying the view all time. Limited electricity (they use generator) so I had to ask them separately to charge my ipad. Totally recommend the place if you like great views and out of ordinary experience.

As our car climbed up the road on the way to the Gorges de Dades, this imposing structure was so inviting that we told ourselves, we have to stop there. We were welcomed by a very smiling and bubbly owner. Wow, the layers of outdoor terraces with the naturally sculptured mountains served as backdrops were impressive! It was breathtaking. The rooms were overlooking the deep valley under and the entire landscape will simply make you feel dwarfed by and immersed into the grandiose of nature. We had our delicious quick lunch but unfortunately did not stay for the evening as we were already booked elsewhere. I can only imagine how breathtakingly romantic the setting must be during the night. Will surely go back to stay at this place!
