Every year we try to make a trip to this very special lodge. We stayed in the Early Mist 2 cottage which has a beautiful mountain view. The cottage is kept to a high standard and the jacuzzi is always a huge hit with the children. We made use of the lodges full catering service. Portions are generous and the food, especially the desserts are delicious! During our stay we celebrated our sons 10th birthday. Gareth and his team went out of their way to bake him a special birthday cake! A gesture which was so appreciated! Fishing was good and kept my husband busy for many hours. We highly recommend this destination!

TV in main bedroom would be great value especially since weather was rainy and cold on the Sunday and would rather spent time in bed warm than sitting up in front of TV in lounge. Just more cosy especially if you were out the whole time to relax in bed. The champagne and rose leaves surprise was so special. A special thank you for that treat and going the extra mile to make it special.

We are a married couple who traveled with our furry companion. this breathtaking Location is away from the hustle and bustle, a lovely farm type setting in the mountains with beautiful horses, sheep, ducks, and even zebras which made our stay even more enjoyable, definitely bring your camera ! the location was a quick 10 min drive away from all the shops you would require,. we had outstanding service and staff made us feel right at home, the breakfast is great, and dinner options Devine ! Bed was comfy, our lakeside cottage was modern phenomanal , once again, the views are quite something to take in. very clean place and we were sad to leave after 3 nights... upon returning home we found we were missing an item we left behind which the staff quickly found for us and organised a courier to be sent back. we are beyond happy with our stay and it comes highly recommended.

The chalet was clean and there were thoughtful things available such as bug spray, chlorine tabs for the hot tub on the porch and firewood and lighters. The kitchen was very nicely furnished too. My two boys are under 5 and they really enjoyed having their own room. One note, I did find the mattresses in the kids room and the towels provided there were rather flimsy but they didn't mind one bit. The adults room was lovely. All the staff we interacted with from booking to check out were kind, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was very tasty and plentiful. Best to get there with an SUV though that may only because it had been really rainy for days before we got there. But a magical place all around and we will surely be back.

Once again Sam and Gareth created a warm and welcoming weekend for a group of friends. The cabins are comfortably decorated and clean and the valley is just breath taking at this time of year. The dam is well maintained and it is a beautiful way to wake up in the morning over looking the dam whilst watching all the animal life meander around the farm.

This is the perfect private getaway. The villas are perfectly spaced out for privacy and having a drink in the jacuzzi while gazing at the mountains and lake does wonders to body and mind.

There are plenty of things to do outdoors and if rain strikes there’s DSTV premium package for entertainment or a fireplace for the romantics.

Not the last time we visit this slice of tranquil heaven.

We had an awesome stay at Sani Valley Lodge. Garreth and his team made our stay a wonderful experience. The staff are very friendly and 'Chef' pulled out all the stops in preparing the most tasteful dinners. We felt most welcome and will definitely be visiting the lodge again. The cottages are well kitted out and comfortable. Tip - don't change a thing!!!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Sani Valley Nature Lodge and sadly only for 2 nights. We opted for the self catering cabin overlooking the lovely lake and ordered a prepared meal for both nights which was absolutely delicious and more than we could eat. The breakfasts were also very good. The heavenly jacuzzi and beautiful views helped us to totally unwind. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious. This is a truly beautiful spot set in the heart of the southern Drakensberg - it was a very memorable stay. We delighted in the birdlife and wildlife roaming the area and also enjoyed the bats in the evening. Thank you. We would love to visit again.

We had the pleasure in staying at Sunset Lodge 2 for a couple of nights. A true Gem. So peaceful and the views are stunning. We booked self catering initially but decided to order Meals. The first night we arrived in darkness, not recommended! As the last part of the journey is on a dirt road and a bit scary! It was reassuring to be met by someone and have a meal waiting at 8 pm at night. The chicken curry was so yummy. We woke to the splendour of the Drakensberg mountain and views of the Lodges. Went on a Sani Pass Tour, highly recommended such an experience on our full day of our stay. Meeting the Lesotho people and a meal at the Highest Pub in Africa topped off our day. Travelled up in grey and mist, and came down in beautiful sunshine and blue skies, we felt so lucky. Don’t attempt to drive the Pass yourselves. On the Thursday evening we had ordered a Braai, coals and lighters and a huge plate of Meat. Enjoyed sitting on our veranda, cooking and relaxing with vino. We are so glad as the nearest town for restaurants was over 30 mins away with the dirt road. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful as our first night we had a small issue with Bugs. That was dealt with straight away so couldn’t have asked for more. Loved every minute of our stay, we will definitely be back. Many thanks.

We got together as a family and hired 3 lodges, allowing us to have peaceful private time as well as great together time. We gathered at the Boathouse for a delicious breakfast every morning after an early swim, walk, paddle or fish. We spent the days beside the lake, reading, skiing and fishing. In the evening we were entertained by peaceful sunsets and 'frogs orchestras", enough to recharge us after a crazy year! What a way to start 2021. Highly recommended!

Hi There I do have Wi-Fi at my Lakeside units and at my boathouse/breakfast area and obviously at my reception. We have Vodacom and Cell C coverage normally (I have boosters at the boathouse and reception) but MTN is limited. Sorry for getting back to you so late, not sure how I missed this question? Hi Tshegisi I thought this question had been answered sorry :( We normally get snow between May and September, if you time it with a cold front you should be lucky. The main 4x4 route would be up the Sani Pass and yes a passport is required....but it is definitely worth it. If we don't have snow there will almost definitely be snow there. Regards Gareth

Do you have any wheelchair accessible units?
Answer from Gareth M
Underberg, South Africa7 contributions1 helpful vote
Dear Nicholas I do not have units that are graded wheel chair friendly, however our Earl Mist units have only one small step at the main door, with the rest of the unit having no stairs, the shower has no door and is fairly large. Hope this helps Regards Gareth
