We arrived in Underberg without a plan. We struggled to get accommodation but when we finally did it was the Summer Room at the Sani Gables. The manageress was very friendly and professional and immediately made us feel welcoming and comfortable. The room itself was somewhat disappointing considering the price. Had a king size bed, electric blankets and a heater. A tv with DSTV and a small bathroom with a small bath and shower. Also a small coffee station. Breakfast was included. We have been travelling alot this week and compared to other places you get a lot more for your money. The room was big and the bed comfortable. The staff were really amazing and even phoned us after booking out because R10.00 had fallen under the bed. Obviously we didnt go back for it but i was impressed that we received the call.…
Stunning renovated victorian style home. Beautiful rooms with a tv. Huge beds with sparkling white crisp linen. It might be next to the main road but Himeville hardley has any traffic so not a problem. You order breakfast the previous evening which is a good idea to prevent food wastage. Diana the manager went out of her way to accomodate our dietary needs, i.e vegetarian and vegan. She also made us dinner reservations for both evenings we were there. Because there are only 4 rooms it feels like you are at home. Would defintely stay there again as well as recommend it to others.
What a lovely spot. The pricing is competitive and the breakfast adequate. We had great service from the staff at hand, and "thank you" for allowing me to download and print out my vehicle documentation at your work station. We'll see you again!
Although set back from the main road through Himeville, this converted bungalow consisting of four en suite bedrooms, guest lounge and breakfast area only suffered from road noise during the day and was quiet overnight. However, creaky wooden floors and thin partition walls echo guest and staff conversations and movement which could be invasive if busy. Although spotlessly clean with fresh decor and the gorgeous polished wood floors, the guest house lacks character, atmosphere and warmth - the owners are resident offsite The manager - Thembisa - does provide a friendly and efficient service running everything from reservations, reception to breakfast preparation and serving. Our room was spacious with a comfortable king bed but a utilitarian en suite bathroom with shower and no tub. There was ample hanging space but strangely, no drawers or shelves. There was a very limited vanity shelf and tiny mirror - such a simple thing to improve. There were no chairs or TV in the room but guests have access to a spacious and attractive TV lounge with fireplace opening onto extensive gardens. Unusually, a full DStv bouquet was available. Free wifi was available with a good signal in the bedroom. Breakfast is ordered on arrival and served in a rather cold environment. Selections were not extensive but adequate.…
First of all - terrible service. There was nobody at the reception when we arrived (still early, around 6 pm) and we had to wait for a long time for anyone to come and open for us. Secondly, the B&B is situated next to a busy road so there is a lot of noise and really no countryside feeling that you look for when visiting Himeville. The gardeners work right outside your window and the setting is not peaceful at all. We also asked the B&B if they could do our laundry for some extra money - they said no problem. Well, they returned the clothes soaking wet with a bad smell! The breakfast is also terrible (no variety) and it takes them like over 30 minutes to bring you even the coffee - which tasted like poison. I booked my next nights in Underberg (the same area) at Malachite Manor - this place I can recommend. They even solved our wet laundry issue and offered a beautiful place to stay in. …
Had a lovely time at Sani Gables. Di and Richard are an awesome dynamic couple who made us incredibly welcome and were lovely to chat to. Lovely breakfast and room and the area was just gorgeous, will definitely be back again and would definitely recommend staying here
