Detailed Reviews
We absolutely loved our stay at KarMichael Farm, it was the first trip we took with our 5month old baby and we were able to feel at home! Kevin is a great host, immediately notified us about the loadshedding times, there are lights in the unit as well as constant hot running water. The place is very clean and we'll kept

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Greggs House after our camping plans were rained out, and we couldn’t have been luckier! The hosts were gracious and friendly, welcoming us at the last minute with such warmth and kindness. The house itself is beautifully furnished with a cozy, inviting atmosphere, and the view of the mountains is simply breathtaking.
Every detail has been thought of here. The amenities are top-notch, with quality linen, comfortable bedding, and even electric blankets—perfect for chilly nights. While it was just the two of us, this spacious unit can easily accommodate a group of six, making it ideal for families or groups. We felt right at home and had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. It’s a true gem, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommend!

Thanks Samantha. Glad we could assist and was also great to chat as well. Ja ,the weather did mot play ball for you guys, and the camping, but hope it improved. The curry was superb too. Love it when guests leave a good meal behind. Happy flying and hopefully meet again Kevin

We stayed at Rose Cottage for 2 nights while hiking the Giants Cup trail.
The host Kevin was super friendly and helpful and even stepped in when our hired transport was unreliable.
The room was clean, with luxurious linen and electric blankets - which was very welcome on an unseasonably cold evening after a long hike.
Kevin and his staff also made a fire for us which was a lovely touch.
They organised food for us from a nearby restaurant and his lovely staff set our table beautifully with rose petals as decoration.
I would definitely choose to stay there again.

Thanks for the review and glad we could make your stay and enjoyable one. Glad to have helped with transport, and help make the experience a good one for you all as well. Can be frustrating when you left out on a limb. Great to chat as well and hope your trip back to central berg went well. Take care

Mercifully we only stayed for one night in Rose Cottage. The name implies an attractive snuggly cottage. Nothing could be further from the truth. This converted chicken shed has concrete floors and a corrugated iron roof with no ceiling in the open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. The bedrooms have ceilings and they are cosy.It was minus 3 degrees when we awoke in the morning, and as the sun warmed the corrugated iron roof we were covered in condensate "rain" all over the breakfast table. We hastily had to move our electronics ( laptops etc) as the "rain" moved steadily throughout the room as the roof warmed up. We couldn't wait to get out and left much earlier than we had planned to. Do not stay in Rose Cottage unless they have upgraded the open plan lounge kitchen are to include a proper insulated ceiling. The other cottages might be okay I cannot comment on those.

Hi Debra Thanks for taking the time to have a good rant. I trust after that, and the extensive weather report as well, you felt much better. We have little control over the weather and minus 3 this year was pretty mild for us. I hope you at least managed to dry off before your hasty exit, and that the day went a lot better for you. Lets hope you find much much better accommodation next time, and you more than welcome to give us a miss.

Best views of Giants Cup and peaceful environment!! Great place to stay for hikers , especially for those wanting to hike the various different routes in the area.
The rooms were very cozy ,yet spacious.
And we always had some great bird sightings at the lake at sunset.

Due to the fact that we arrived late I think the way in that all the staff members and owner made us feel welcome was nice. The room was very clean and stylish. A television would have been nice , but I suppose that could potentially take away some of the ambience of a uniquely quite ambiance. Overall I would easily recommend the B&B to friends and family.

Thanks for the time to write a review. Your trip was certainly a long one, and glad you felt welcome on arrival. We have never had TV's. Prefer to keep it nice and quiet for guests, as some just abuse the noise situation. Trust your return trip went well, and hopefully we may see some of your friends and family in the future. Your support is truly appreciated

We stayed at KarMichael over Christmas an in between two overnight hikes we were doing in the Drakensberg Gardens and Cobham areas. It was the perfect stopover. We stayed in the old stables, where were wonderfully spacious and well equipped. Out back is a huge lawn and views to the Berg; we really enjoyed the space and the privacy while sorting ourselves out in between hikes. Kevin provided numerous restaurant recommendations (Moorcroft for Xmas lunch was sublime!) and was very friendly and helpful otherwise. I loved the decor. The only things to note was - unless we were mistaken - we didn't have WiFi (in the room, at least - it may be available in the main house), and the toaster didn't seem to work (but the little oven was extremely effective at grilling bread :))

Hi Fran Thanks for the review and glad we could make your stay a comfortable one. We certainly have a beautiful outlook to be able to share with our guests. My wife and daughter do the decor and it is nice to see that it is appreciated. The WiFi does not reach as far as the units you were in but is freely available at reception. Sorry about the toaster. We have checked on it and seems fine, and did not get any other complaints about it. Please always feel free to contact management should problems arise. We value your support Thank you Kevin

Lovely quiet cottage with fantastic view of the green fields. Perfect for hiding away from the world. We were here in summer but I can imagine a great cosy night reading or playing board games around the indoor fireplace in the colder months. Close to Himeville with easy access to Sani Pass road for driving or cycling. Could do with a gas hot plate for loadshedding cooking and kettle boiling, but otherwise well equipped. Spacious hot shower with option of having a soak in the bathtub with a view. 3G/4G reception was not great but one doesn't come somewhere like this to sit on their phone, one hopes. Will definitely come here again.

Since my first stay at this amazing guesthouse, I keep going back. Excellent value for money. The owner, Kevin, is very friendly and goes out of his way to make you feel at home. Best of all is that you are treated like family and are invited to eat breakfast with the owners inside their private residence.

Hi Seelan We sincerely appreciate your time to write the review. It is always good to see you and get to know you a little better each time too. With COVID and these sometimes trying times it sometimes means we have to change the routine, so having you inside for a meal and chat makes it a little less formal and more relaxed too. Take care and we hope to see you again regularly. Kind Regards Kevin

This is my third stay at KarMichael Farm and I can say that my trip was as enjoyable as the previous two years! On arrival, we were greeted with warm, friendly faces. Kevin, his family and his staff's friendliness and hospitality is commendable! A real home-away-from-home experience. The rooms are clean, inviting and comfortable. My colleague was most impressed with her electric blanket for the chilly weather we experienced. Overall, a firm favourite for my yearly visit to Underberg.
