I am a trail runner and travelling coming from Quebec, Canada. We stayed with them for about a week there and we enjoyed every moment of it. The primary reason we chose to stay with them was that they partnered with the UD race organizer as the official hotel. Upon check-in and talking to a few of the staff and manager. The company really value sports and the well-being of their employees. One thing that worries me travelling in a foreign country would be the food. During my stay, I was very glad that I could count on them on every meal. Every meal and buffet menu were well-thought for athletes diet, I was really impressed. We did not have to venture out to other shops or restaurant during our stay. The staff in the dining area are super attentive, they were very efficient in replacing our table with clean plates. Their wine menu was excellent, it had everything I wanted and the price was very reasonable.
We stayed in a room in the building next to the lobby. The environment is very quiet and had an unobstructed view over the mountains. Room service was excellent, the bathroom floor was heated, and we did not have any complain at all. Knowing the hotel was in full capacity later during our stay, we did not encounter any problem with noise from other guests, I believe the walls are thick enough.
One day we did reserved a spot for horse riding, the lady was super nice and talked us through everything that needs attention of. Our guide was very polite and we talked a lot about the region.
The hotel also has an outdoor pool with lots of place to lounge, though the wifi might be spotty. There are lots of hiking trails connecting to the resort, you may simply leave across the field and you are already in the national park.
The location is perfect, it is located on a well paved road, and well within the drakensberg national park. It is not far of a drive up to Sani Pass, nor the durban airport. It has everything you need including comfort and warmth. I would highly recommend this place.

Henry, what an amazing review. Absolutely love the passion from trail running and highlighting ours as the same. We certainly offer so much for the hiker and trail runner and being a runner myself the meals and down time are so important. The trails are exceptional and views amazing. Cant wait to have you back here and ready for UTD in 2023, Im certainly part of the race as always. Next time you planning a trip let me know and I will show you a few new trails.

During our recent stay at the resort, we had a somewhat mixed experience. While we had a great time during our previous visit, this time we encountered some issues that left us feeling a bit disappointed. On the positive side, the resort's beautiful surroundings were just as enchanting as we remembered.

On the day after arrival, we had a meeting with the management to discuss some concerns we had and they kindly gifted us a fruit and chocolate platter, which we appreciated as a gesture of goodwill. However, there was no follow-up on the matters we discussed.

One of the areas that fell short during our stay was dinner at the restaurant. The lack of a reservation system made it chaotic, and despite being promised a table after a short wait, we were left waiting for much longer. The food itself was good, but we noticed several issues, such as dishes running out frequently at breakfast, mislabeling of items, and some undercooked items (crumpets) or egg shells present in the breakfast order. These may seem like minor details, but they reflect a lack of attention to detail and overall management.

While our room was new and comfortable, it had a few issues that needed attention. Initially, the basin lacked a plug, but it was quickly resolved by the staff. However, when we reported a flooding issue in the bathroom after a shower, we received no response from the maintenance team or housekeeping. It took a second complaint for a manager to address the problem, but the towels used to mop up the water were taken away were not replaced. The presence of mold on the walls near the shower was concerning and indicated a recurring problem.

We were also disappointed when some kids' activities were canceled without any prior communication or suitable alternatives. It was only after we spoke with the management that the youth team became more involved, which our son enjoyed.

Overall, the resort has the potential to be a wonderful destination, but improvements are needed. The open-air play area raised safety concerns, particularly the trampoline without any safety skirting. Addressing these issues would significantly enhance the overall experience for guests, especially those with young children.

Though our stay had its ups and downs, we still managed to enjoy ourselves. However, based on our recent experiences, we may explore other accommodation options when we visit the region next time. We hope that the management takes the feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to create a more satisfying experience for future guests.

This was my first visit since 2015 and the hotel and service were much improved. August is never the best time to visit the Drakensberg, being at the end of winter and extremely dry, the rivers are just a trickle and the beautiful gardens were just waiting for the Spring rains. I booked the Winter Special on a B & B basis at a 30% discount. It was very good value considering I was on my own. My Standard room was very nice with a small veranda but had only a shower and there was no view of the main gardens or mountains. The breakfast buffet was very substantial and catered for every taste. The "new" heated indoor pool is amazing and being mid-week and out of season was generally very quiet. The staff were very friendly and always helpful.

Our stay at Sani Pass Premier Resort was a perfect end to an epic 24 day road trip. This hotel is beautiful, classy and exudes old world charm. The staff were incredible, in particular, Michael, the Restaurant Manager, and Hotel and Group Executive Richard Bray, who paid attention to the smallest of details. Excellent food, excellent service and a beautiful hotel. Slightly more attention could be given to the rooms, as they are just a little bit plain for the price you pay.

Wendy, it was great having the opportunity to be the cherry on top after your road trip. The first bit of rain has certainly made everything green and the weather has changed to summer in an instant. Michael is an absolute gem and I will certainly pass on the kind words. Richard leads by example and we all look to follow this. I will certainly have a look at where we can improve as per your comments and we will continue to work on the service and food. We hope to see you back here soon.

The location/view did not disappoint and we enjoyed the play area, swimming pool & walk to the waterfall.
We appreciated the size of our deluxe room & the loan of beach towels for the pool.
The Kids Club was great, even though we couldn't leave our child as he was underage. The staff were delightful and so happy to have him in the room when we stayed with him.
Organising the Sani Pass trip was very straightforward and we really enjoyed the excursion.
Areas for improvement based on our stay (2 adults with an 18mth old):
Play area trampoline should be made more safe by fixing the cushions around the edge. Too risky for a child to fall between the springs when the cushions move.
Room service wasn't available when the restaurant was doing a buffet. We didn't want to pay for the amount of food available in the buffet (as we weren't hungry enough) so went elsewhere to eat. If you want people to stay at the resort, there should be flexibility.
Highchairs with straps. Unfortunately the design of the restaurants highchairs allowed our son to stand up and so we had to use our own reins to try to contain him.
The indoor pool could have been warmer and cleaner on our two visits.
On checkout we were billed for two days of breakfast when this was included in our package. The reception staff were apologetic and removed this immediately.

Hi Hannah, Thank you so much for the informative review and feedback, we certainly put a lot of effort into the kids club and ensuring everyone has fun. With kids under 2yo it is always a challenge and we have babysitters who happily look after the youngsters in the room or on site for you. I will certainly give the high chairs a rethink and see what we can do with new ones. I will certainly ensure the trampoline area is sorted out and safe. We have installed a new heat pump on 2 May for the heated pool and Im happy to say its running at a warm 30 degress at the moment.Perfect for winter swimming. The room service element is available so Im not sure why we did not offer that, sorry for the inconvenience regarding the meals. We really hope to see you back soon.

Such a beautiful location coupled with opportunies to commune with nature and be taken care of by a lovely staff body. The dining room staff -Zuko, Samke, Michael, Eric, Innocent and chef Dave were especially warm welcoming and ensured that our meals were good. One meat-free person was catered for but more options are always welcomed. Homemade pastries etc in the morning are a lovely addition. Best scones and pancakes! We had lovely dinners as well although a vegetarian buffet price would be nice if there is only 1 main veg option available. The staff at the front desk were helpful especially Marc and Victoria. The waterfall flat walk is a must in combination with a custom picnic from the kitchen. They set it up for you with blankets and pillows. Best done in the afternoon to enjoy the view. The heated pool is lovely and the grounds are great for morning walks and bird watching. Suggestion for hotel: give guests a bird list with pictures and which birds are most sighted and where. An eco- bingo of plants and insects to be seen on the grounds.

We visited the Premier hotel Sani pass over the Easter long weekend.

From the time you enter up until you leave you are greeted with smiles attention to detail, and going out of their way.

We are vegetarian, and felt well catered for, the rooms were always kept up to standard for the stay, we made such close bonds with the hosts and all staff. The facilities and kids zone was all the guests raved about.

I would like to give a standing ovation to Daniel leadership isn't about recognition its about delivery and your leading a team well.

We definitely will be back and will refer to my social network

Regards
The Reddy family

Pathetic experience, upon arrival your front desk staff have no idea how to manage a queue as another guest walked up the stairs and was greeted and assisted before me, whilst i waited in the queue. When i went to the restaurant after checking in, the waitron promptly reminded me that I hadn’t paid my bill for the previous day! This was within earshot of other guests and was extremely embarrassing for me and immensely rude of her. When i enquired what basis she had for accusing me of such a thing seeing that she didn’t have any of my information, such as my name nor room number, she just says I thought it was you, with no apology forthcoming!
We went to the lounge had a few drinks and requested that they be charged to our room and we would settle on checkout (standard practice at every hotel we’ve ever stayed in) Not the case at this place, as someone thought it was a great idea to incessantly call my room between 10:30pm and 11:00pm to inform me that “there were room charges and he wasn’t balancing!” Absolutely shocking behavior with absolutely no regard for the guest. Pathetic service, unprofessional and staff lacking experience! Your staff needs some serious training and the rooms need a serious cleaning, towels and blankets are unusable and considering we are going through a pandemic, you guys need to seriously be aware of hygiene. Also it would be great if someone informed us that the water in the hotel is not for drinking. As beautiful as the place is i will not be staying here again!

Arrived at the hotel around 4pm after a long drive. Place looked better than expected and the room was big. Had a bathtub in the room as well although the water was murky all the time. Stayed with wife and 4yo.

Location is great for exploring Sani Pass as it is the first hotel on the way up. Rooms have amazing views of the mountains and there is a short 30 min hike you can take to see a nearby waterfall.

Facilities are good as well, just that service could have been better. The reception lady seemed grumpy and was not very helpful. If you need a plug adapter, better bring your own!

We tried to order room service but had trouble finding the number to dial. When we called the reception, they were unsure of the number too. Finally the room service came, but they were not able to charge it to hotel bill. Food was not bad, but we had to pay additional 50 Rand for the room service on top of the cost of the food.

Breakfast was 195 Rand per person and the selection wasn't that great. Taste was average. My wife decided to skip the breakfast totally.

Great place to stay if you are intending to go up the pass. Tours start at 930am so you have some time in the morning to get ready. And they drop you off first, at around 330pm so you can move on to your next location.

Hotel Room: 5 Stars (Big room with twin beds and a bath tub)
Room View: 5 Stars (Nice view of the mountains)
Service of Staff: 3 Stars (Grumpy, unhelpful)
Lounges/Restaurants: 3 Stars (Limited spread, taste average)
Room Service: 4 Stars(Nicer tasting food)
Location: 5 Stars (Last to pick up and first to drop off on tour to Sani Pass)

Dear Esteemed Guest, Good afternoon to you, and we trust that you are well. First and foremost may I profusely apologize for the delay in terms of my late response, however I only received the same today. Please be advised that you would not require a 4X4 for the trip from Underberg to our property, however you would require a 4X4 for the trip up the pass. There are various companies that offer a trip up the pass i.e. should you wish to do so, which may be arranged for on arrival at our property. Please be advised that a Passport is required for the trip into Lesotho. We hope that the above information will be in order for now, and looking forward to your visit in the future.
