We arrived with an Animod voucher, on arrival nobody knew anything about us. The lady at the reception tried hard and after some time found a free room for us. The room in the attic was large, clean, the furniture is probably still from the early days of the hotel. The beds/mattresses were soft and good. The bathroom was clean, the shower cup probably still left over from the 80s. The breakfast buffet was adequate although we have experienced better. The service is good, once the bathroom was not cleaned. The room lacked a bottle of mineral water (which is actually common nowadays) It was only there on the last day.
Since the hotel is located directly on the thoroughfare, it gets quite noisy from 4am due to traffic. In summer we would not stay there, in the attic there is no air conditioning.
For a, according to Animod 4 star castle hotel I would have expected more.

Spent 4 nights here. Mixed feelings about the stay. The receptionist was not very friendly and informative when we arrived. The room had an OK size but was up under the roof, with no view.
The wi fi didn't function at all. A pity that there is no garden, no flowers no nothing, and no outside relaxation area. The dinners were served at the nearby restaurant Burg, which were good. Breakfast was good

We were visiting family in the area and were very happy to come across this lovely hotel. We stayed for a week in a Junior Suite and it was gorgeous - we don’t get a lot of chances to stay in Palaces back in OZ so I couldn’t pass it up!
Breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate which was a pity but there are little supermarkets within walking distance so we had food covered- they did provide in the room a coffee machine and a mini fridge.
The room was huge, it was like a wing in the house more than a room. There was a bedroom and sitting room, then the entrance with a full cupboard a long hallway then to t lovely bathroom with fantastic water pressure.
The room heating was good and very effective but we had some lovely days so it was nice to be able to open the windows in the morning and look out either onto the village or the little park nearby.
The town itself is little with everything within walking distance including a lovely restaurant in the old castle complete with a beer garden that’s worth a visit.

Nice small town in former east Germany. We had on OT on the way between Berlin and Hamburg. Room was in the Annex. Good standard and clean. The room had enough space for all four of us. Breakfast in the castle was nice.

Traveled here for business being conducted nearby, and probably should have stayed a little further away in a bigger town. While the hotel itself was interesting, a former castle, it was definitely not the most comfortable place to stay by American standards.
Unfortunately, no one working at the hotel spoke English. This is definitely not a complaint, as I realize people shouldn't be expected to speak an alternate language in their own country--however most employees at larger European hotels do speak English. The internet was quite pricey and there are really no amenities to speak of. The rooms were very unusual--again, architecturally beautiful and interesting, in fact extremely large, however not the most comfortable or well-thought out design. The room's bathroom was quite far from the bed, requiring a walk around two in-room hallways and the from entryhall. This would not be so bad, except the ceilings were EXTREMELY high, which along with the old-fashioned oil-based furnaces made the room and walk to the bathroom VERY cold.
The town itself is definitely not a place I would recommend for tourists. There is one nice restaurant/castle very nearby, but other than that the town is extremely run down with many abandoned businesses and nothing open after 8pm.
All in all, I am a little surprised to see this rated a 4-star hotel. Though there is some beautiful country for biking/driving pretty nearby, as an American I could not say I'd recommend staying here.

Neustadt-Glewe is hardly the centre of the universe, but it is a town dating back to the 13th century. The hotel Schloss Neustadt-Glewe is an old manor house dating from the early 17th century. It is built in Dutch baroque style and has survived over 400 years of monumental changes.
Upon checking in, we were upgraded to a corner suite the size of an mid-size apartment with no less than three rooms - bedroom, lounge, and a large bathroom. The rooms were clean, the bed excellent - the interior in the bedroom was very light. The lounge was kept in the dark colours of earlier times giving it a certain charm.
Being a very hot summer, we had our meals outside in the grounds by a small pond. The food was good and the atmosphere serene.

The property in itself is fantastic, a baroque mansion from 1720 turned into a hotel in 1997. We had a spacious and comfortable suite which really was a bargain, even if Neustadt-Glewe is not the place where you would like to spend your extended German holiday. Parking was easy, just outside the hotel.
What really disappointed us was the way the hotel is managed. We arrived on a Saturday, but then the restaurant was closed. Breakfast the next day was served in a gloomy basement accompanied by terrible German radio, a highly odd arrangement when a beautiful baroque ball room with large windows was empty one floor above us. Checking in and out was more bed & breakfast-like.
This hotel obviously deserves a better management than a chain like Accor is able to provide.

I was there to get a few hours of sleep. But everything went fine. The reception was waiting for me when I arrived at 1am. The room was comfortable. Breakfast in the early morning was also good. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Nice hotel with beautiful surroundings. The resepionist was not so good in english, but we managed to understand eachother.
The room was big, clean and ok. But-there was no aircondition. That was not good. The room was so hot, so we slept bad unfortunately.

How often does the hotelroom You get look exactly like on promised on the photos? It did here ! A big, nice, clean room. Free bottles of water waited and with possibility to make a cup of coffee or tea in the room. The town didn´t have much to see or do, and not exactly many restaurants. The breakfastrestaurant was fantastic and charming and the breakfastbuffet perfect!
