I picked this hotel because I wanted somewhere inexpensive. Therefore my expectations were limited. It was far better than I expected . There are two hotels owned by the same company each side of the street . It was quiet and clean and has a kind of retro 60s look about it . (This is due to the age of the building and is not intentional) The bathhouse was very nice and provided everything you need including toiletries and towels . The breakfast was a buffet style and there was enough choice to keep everybody happy. The staff were polite and helpful , I don't know whether any of them could speak English or not . My only criticism is that the lighting was a little dim especially in my room. Also the inane background music bled into the room. I found that rather irritating . Thankfully they switch it off about 10 PM . There is a wonderful river side area called Chikuma nearby. This is great for an early morning or late evening walk . The town is pleasant and there are several small restaurants and other places to eat . It's not super convenient, being about 20 minutes train ride from Nagano, but if you are looking for a budget priced place to stay, you won't be disappointed .

We stayed just for one night before leaving Nagano! It is a little bit far from the city town but there is a free shuttle bus (people who don't have car!) Very friendly and smile staff (especially the front desk guy) ^_^, very good vintage room, clean, confortable bed.... and a amazing 24h/24 ONSEN & Sauna ^_^ In a small town where you can enjoy a lot of ONSEN!!!! I'll recommand this Hotel πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰Thank you for your hospitality

We stayed in this hotel for 10 nights and it was amazing!! Great onsen, great facilities (apart from inside smoking) and great staff! It's also extremely cheap and the town itself is beautiful one of the best places to visit in Japan for sure!! I highly recommend anyone stay here you will not be disappointed

Though the hotel might be just ordinary and around average, I had an overall pleasant experience. I particularly enjoyed the onsen. The staff is super-friendly and helped us to find a spot in the adjacent free parking area. The room was comfortable and had everything you would expect from a mid-range hotel.
