Situated at the foot of the Steenbras Mountain and overlooking the Ocean and Table Mountain, lies the historical Manor on the Bay. It was built in 1862 and later served as the Summer residence for Sir Alfred Beit family, from Ireland. Yamin and Olivier will host you in their affordable accommodation in picturesque Gordon's Bay, a hidden gem near Cape Town. Manor on the Bay is only 20 paces from the beach, where conditions for swimming and sunbathing are perfect. A walking trail under a canopy of Milkwood trees (unique to this part of the Western Cape) leads to a variety of quality restaurants, bars and a unique bookshop. Another leisurely 3 minutes’ walk will take you to the yacht harbour, from where daily excursions of deep-sea fishing, whale and shark watching / diving and sunset cruises depart. Manor on the Bay provides luxury accommodation in all 12 en suite bedrooms with bed and breakfast. We have disabled friendly rooms & inter-leading family rooms. In addition, we offer function facilities for weddings, cocktail parties and product launches. Manor on the Bay has spectacular sunset views over the ocean and over the Helderberg Mountains. Enjoy our Sunset lounge with amazing views of the ocean or watch the whales in season or the dolphins passing you by. Renowned for personal service and charming staff, Manor on the Bay offers guests the ultimate gift of sublime setting and an unforgettable stay. Manor on the Bay promises to be an idyllic location to rejuvenate oneself, away from the stresses of modern living. Gordon’s Bay is a hidden jewel. Cape Town, the Waterfront and Cape Town International airport are only 40 minutes from our Manor. Following the Whale Route and its breath-taking coastline will get you to Hermanus in 45 minutes. Manor on the Bay is the gateway to the Garden Route and is only 45 from Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, our most respected wine producing areas. We are surrounded by 20 golf courses, most renowned of which are Erinvale, Arrabella and De Zalze. Gordon’s Bay is safe and secure, where walking at any hour, is advised.

Property's Favourite Review
I made a mistake when booking our trip to South Africa and my wife booked this last minute. BUT what a great surprise.
This is run by Jenny and her helpful husband, Basjan (lol ok its Sebastian but I like his nickname better).
The room we had was a family room which had a double bed and a double bunk with a kitchen and a great bathroom. The room was very clean and the beds very very comfortable. The kitchen had everything you needed in it including a very well stocked mini bar. The room had a great view of the ocean and speaking of the ocean, its literally across the road so in summer this place would be ideal to spend some time in the water.
Our booking included breakfast and all i can say is wow. You will not need for anything as you quite simply had it all to hand. Food was fresh, coffee was fresh, juice was fresh and the small cheeses a reminder of child hood.
We went to a local steak house for dinner which was just down the road and as for safety, you get given a remote for the gate and it is very well lit when you return to your room.
The best thing about this place, and believe me there is lots good about it and would definitely recommend it, but its the people who run Manor on the Bay. They are both friendly and accommodating and made our stay very welcoming. You check in with a lovely glass of sherry or two or three LOL LOL, never to early in South Africa.
Great place to start our awesome South African holiday and we will definately be staying there again as soon as we can.

Stayed in the family suite on February as part of a longer trip in SA, the room was incredible, beautifully decorated and set out for a family with young children (I say this as it’s bunk beds in the room),
Everything is well maintained and you can tell very well cared for a small but nice little pool to cool off, and the breakfast is amazing all made to order with a selection on buffet bits while it’s being cooked… the croissants are to die for.
good location right across a small road from the beach and easy and safe to walk down to the bay where there is a good selection of a few restaurants and shops there is something for everyone but not loads.
We didn’t have a car but I would recommend having one for this area having said that we got around quite easily via Uber when we wanted to get out of the area, we went to the spier winery and Cheetah outreach quickly and cheaply.
After receiving some sad news from home and somewhat distracted we made a silly mistake by leaving our passports in the safe and didn’t realise until we were 3 hours away, we called Olivier who promptly removed them and took care of them until we could get to them also delaying their evening out so we could get them collected so really went above and beyond… Thank you 😊

We had a truly wonderful stay at Manor on the Bay. Olivier and Yamin are gracious and attentive hosts, providing perfect hospitality and anticipating our every need. The property itself is lovely, with well-appointed rooms, gorgeous views and a lovely garden pool area in the back, and the location is idyllic - right on the beach and very tranquil, but a quick walk away from town and within easy driving distance of both Cape Town and the winelands. Overall, our stay was perfect, and we hope to have the opportunity to stay at this wonderful property again.

Yamin and Olivier made our stay at Manor on the Bay a perfect one. Our room was beautifully furnished, the bed was very comfortable, the view of the bay was gorgeous, the beach was only a 2 minute walk away. The cleaning of the room and bathroom was mostly done during breakfast (8-10am) and was done flawlessly. Breakfast was plentiful and special requests were catered for. Yamin and Olivier had good tips for excursions and restaurants in the area. All in all, a wonderful stay at Manor on the Bay in Gordon's Bay.

A great stay, clean, beautiful, near beach and restaurants. Impressive views, great breakfast and nice hosts. The only thing is not getting a refund after changing to a cheaper room because of all the stairs to the expensive room.

Absolutely love Manor on the Bay
Fantastic location in Gordon’s Bay, with the panoramic beach just out front, table mountain in the distance across the bay.
Yamin and Olivier were the perfect hosts, extremely helpful, warm and friendly.
The rooms we booked were luxurious, perfect and welcoming, we sat outside most nights and watched the sunset with a glass of wine, chatting and peaceful at the same time.
The morning breakfast selection was served in the main part of the manor, fresh fruit, meats, cheesecake, pastries and a selection of hot food cooked to order, perfectly served!
Great location to stay for the wine estates, Olivier and Yamin recommended, Idiom, Peter Falke, Ernie Ells , all were a short drive and exactly what we liked.
I would recommend booking , I would definitely return and bring friends!

We can't praise this Guesthouse highly enough! It sits right by the sea, overlooking stunning Gordon's Bay. There is a beach ten steps away or a stunning pool in the immaculate back garden of the property.
The rooms are large, bright and airy with King sized beds and quality linen. The bathrooms are huge. Each room has a fridge and kettle and some have mini Kitchens, which would be fantastic for longer stays. They also have their own water supply and generator. WiFi is excellent and the TV has Sky, BBC and CNN plus numerous other channels. This is often rare in SA .
Security is excellent and numerous cars can be parked safely inside the grounds.
Breakfast is superb with fresh fruit salad, cereal, cheese, cold ham, and cooked eggs, bacon, mushrooms and tomato. Six different types of tea and wonderful coffee plus three types of bread and jars of jam. And French music each morning as Oliver, one of the owners, is French and Yamin, his wife is Burmese . She is in charge of the decorations and housekeeping and it is all spotless! They are both excellent hosts giving advice on vineyards such as Ernie Els, Graff, Mont Marie, Tokara, and Avontuur to name but a few. They can also book restaurants, provide extra pillows and sort out any problems. They live on the property which is very important in our eyes!
Manor on the Bay is 22 miles from the Cape Town International Airport and an easy drive to all the vineyards.
So don't delay....make a booking here. You won't be disappointed!
