We went for a family weekend getaway.
Upon arrival at the lodge we were greeted by the owners and welcomed with a wet towel and an ice cold drink. We felt right at home from the moment we got there. The staff and owners go out of their way to help and accommodate all guests where they can.

The rooms are spacious, modern with a rustic feel and very clean.
We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge and all meals were delicious. All meals are set menu/ buffet-type and inspired by true Namibian farm-style cooking.

There's a wide range of animals around the house and some of the wild animals even come up to the fence to be fed in the mornings or late afternoons. The lodge offers horse-riding in the mornings and you can even hop on quad bike for a quick drive. We spent the Saturday afternoon lounging at the pool and went on a Sundowner at around 17:30. The view of the Erongo Mountains with the Namibian sunset, something cold to drink and true Namibian snacks were just amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Our trip to Koedoeberg was really amazing. Everything was just perfect the accommodation, food, staff and the special attention from the owners and their various family members. Ideal getaway for families with lots to keep the kids busy. Thanks to all for a wonderful weekend. The final 30kms to the farm is quite rough riding so would not recommend to normal car owners - however great for the SUV drivers.

This lodge is a place that you must visit. It is a challenge getting there and there needs to be some directions put onto the website. You need a sturdy vehicle to get there. The staff are wonderful and the food is good. The rooms are 'under construction' but will improve. The campsites are very rudimentary and no shade. There is lots to do and kids especially will love this place. One night is not enough and I will have to go back again.

When Koedoeberg advertized a special for the Casinga weekend, I was a little weary as the special was 795 p/p/s, dinner bed and breakfast. We desperately needed a weekend away and we decided to take a chance. I would like to share my tips and experiences:

1. The moment you decide to visit the amazing gem, please let go of your idea of what it must be. Make sure you have at least a 4x4 to get there - it just makes the trip so much easier.

2. We opted to not make use of the free wifi and I am so grateful that we did. NO PHONES for the entire long weekend, made it feel like I was away for a week at least.

3. Please practice eating a lot - no joke. These people LOVE feeding you and I am not talking snacks here. You get a full breakfast, tea and cake, lunch (take it, it is worth it), afternoon tea and cake and dinner - good Lord... how much can 1 person eat???

4. Rooms are amazing. Brand spanking new, modern and clean. Although we had the DBB option, Melanie (hostess) gave me a kettle and all necessities for the room as we have a 2 year old toddler who still wants a bottle of tea every now and again. They come to clean your room on a daily basis - all inclusive.

5. I was a little hesitant as to whether our 2year old daughter would be sufficiently entertained (meaning that there would be enough for her to do...oh my goodness, I had nothing to worry about. From the moment she woke up (usually at 6), she could go into the guinea pig cages, chase the guinea fowl, play with the bunnies or whatever hear heart desired. I was grateful.

6. Koedoeberg offers self-catering units as well that are beautifully equipped for 4 people. 2-plate stove with an oven, fully equipped kitchen, modern room with a braai outside.

All the water is being recycled, so do not worry about the long wait for warm water in the morning (which is being warmed by the traditional "donkey" (a fire stoked with pipes running through it, to heat up the water)

There are many more plans in the pipeline but they are already exceeding the expectation.

Will I go again? You bet your bottom dollar, I will

Have min. 2 or 3 days for your stay. The way to the farm ist very hard (27 km off road you need 90 min. minimum). Lot of animal, lot of things to do. Very friendly people. The host is pleased to entertain you.
Make a walk to the wall paintings, ride the horses or the quads.

Koedoeberg Guest Farm was by far the best place we stayed in Namibia. The hosts are excellent, food is delicious, the views are stunning and the meerkats are beyond cute. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Koedoeberg is situated in the centre of the Erongo crater. Do google it.

We have visited Koedoeberg now 4 times during the last 4 months and will definitely go again. The owner, Servaas, was born on this farm and bought the farm for sentimental reasons. He did not planned to start a guest farm, but one thing after the other and eventually he built a beautiful thatched-roof lodge on his farm. As this is a brand new lodge, one might encounter the odd hick-up, but they are working hard to get every thing going smoothly.
Every guest, however, is treated like family, so it is not the stereo type guest farm, where you are just a paying number, who arrive, pay your money and go again. No, when there, you don't want to depart again.
I have taken my grown children with grand-children to Koedoeberg, as I knew the small ones would thrive and expand their horizons on this farm, with all the small and large, tame living farm creatures around them all the time. Back at school they could not tell their mates and teachers enough about their experiences at Koedoeberg. One even wrote an essay about all the living creatures (like meerkats and eland) on the farm.
Even the drive to Koedoeberg is a big adventure. I did it in a all-wheel drive vehicle, but some did it in VW Jettas. Some advice here, whatever you drive, do drive slowly to avoid getting a tyre punctured by the stones.
The owners and their staff, are specialized caterers, so expect to be surprised.
This is not only affordable for we locals, but will be an African farm experience extraordinaire to the visitors from overseas.
Go to Koedoeberg and experience Namibian farm hospitality at its best. Book at least 3 nights.

It's a really nice and new renovated guest farm. It is a pleasure to stay with Melanie and Seervas. The atmosphere is very familiar. It's quiet and you can relax very well. The surrounding is beautiful. If you like, you can hike to bushman paintings or you can do a game drive to see a lot of animals. We will come again.
