I joined because they seemed to be working hard to future-proof provision against Covid and lockdown. Best decision on gym membership I’ve ever made, and I didn't even realise how splendid the bar and restaurant menus were at the time. The facilities are wonderful and well-kept, and all the staff are pretty special: friendly, helpful and good at what they do. I’ve enjoyed the outdoor gym, spa garden and classes in the marquee especially. All areas are kept spotless, and there are clear arrangements for social distancing both in spaces and when travelling between them. Communications are a real strong point, with video updates on new facilities, newsletters, emails, personal calls and a user-friendly website. I've been impressed with the range of classes on offer, and the free induction programmes are really worthwhile. I was already looking at those available online before the current lockdown (a huge menu, both live and recorded), and I'll be trying as many as I can over the next few... well, whatever. I'm so glad to be a member!

Wickwoods country Club and Spa delivers in all areas. You arrive at an oasis of peace and tranquility. The venue is superb for functions and located in acres of well manicured lawns and woodland. A full package awaits from a hotel, spa, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym, exercise classes and a restaurant with a delicious menu. The staff are so welcoming and attentive to all our needs. Gym, exercise classes and tennis are reserved for members and during lockdown the service put in place were outstanding with every care taken for a secure and safe return to Club activities. For members they have introduced a variety of online classes, cooking demonstrations and inspirational clips. The team have surpassed themselves in all areas to give us a spotlessly clean environment in which to enjoy the facilities offered by the Club. Thank you to all the management for their creative thinking and for the staff for all the effort they put in to looking after everyone and putting together such a wonderfully diverse programme for us to enjoy whilst at home or at the Club. Well done and proud to be a member.

This is a country hotel off the beaten track. Tucked away in a part of small town England, you must try to reserve a room here if you can possibly. Lovely views of South Down, decent food and lots of fun things to do too.

Check on the website, call up or email in order to find out more about what to expect. The hotel spa is excellent, as is the golf course here and there are lots of activities worth doing. You must also definitely see if you can reserve a room that has nice views. There is a excellent restaurant on site to visit for meals and all rooms are free of smoke. Additionally you can scour reviews then decide.

Recommended. Make sure to inquire. Get as much information as possible first. The hotel entertainment is rated as rather top notch, try finding out more. The website has a lot more details.

I visited with two friends for lunch on 10th January. When I booked I was asked if it was a special occasion I said it was a birthday celebration lunch. Yet no mention of this was made by staff during our visit, so why ask?
I ordered from the set menu and have to say my choices were very disappointing. The salmon starter was a very small portion with rather basic dressings it definitely needed something else on the plate to lift and compliment the dish. My main course was spiced quinoa (a salad of sorts) it was colourless, rather bland and certainly not spicy.
I live locally and if I were to rank Wickwoods based on my enjoyment of my meal against three other local restaurants I have visited in the past four weeks within the same price bracket; being Morleys, The Horse Inn and The Bolney stage I have to say Wickwoods would have ranked 4th place.
I spoke to a member of Wickwoods at the weekend and they said they had heard of experiences similar to mine recently, such a shame as the venue is very attractive and the staff are extremely welcoming.

I have been a member of Wickwoods for many years and I have always been very pleased and satisfied with everything about it. However during these difficult times they have surpassed themselves. As soon as I heard the facilities were reopening I had no hesitation about visiting immediately. I had total confidence that it would be safe, spotlessly clean, well prepared and very organised. It was more than that and they have gone way beyond my expectations. The effort, thought and imagination that has gone into rearranging the facilities that couldn't be used yet in their normal way ie the classes in the marques outside, the entrance and exit arrangements are just brilliant. Thank you Lee and all the staff for your great work and every best wish for the future.

We had a very disappointing spa day with confusion over use of the facilities, and specifically the outdoor pool. It is clearly advertised within the brochure and no mention was made of some facilities being for members use only but we were told by members we were not able to which was particularly awkward and when we queried with staff they said the same. You certainly feel inferior to members despite having paid for a full spa day. We raised the discrepancies with spa management who have since responded to advise 'priority is given to members', that they haven't increased the spa price to include use of the spa garden, and that it's a bonus (which is not how it's reflected in the brochure at all). No ownership/apology was made. It's all really quite confusing/misleading and I'm not sure why they offer spa days. There are many other places in the area that would really welcome spa guests so I would recommend avoiding here.

Dear Lucy, As expressed in my email to you, I was disappointed to learn of the experience you received in the Spa garden. We are surprised this took place and is not the typical welcoming nature of all at Wickwoods. We share your view that this is unacceptable, our Spa guests are of equal importance to us as a team and a business and we are very sorry for the impression created on this occasion. As I explained in my email to you we are still in the process of managing out restrictions put in place during the pandemic, currently some of the facilities are not accessible to Spa days and this should have been detailed to you prior to booking. My apologies this was not made clear to you. I have reviewed the processes in place and marketing material to ensure that this fully reflects our current offering. I have placed a call to you today to discuss the matter further, please do make contact when suits. Kind regards Chloe Johnson Senior Operations Manager

We have just had our wedding at this wonderful venue, and words cannot describe just how perfect the Wickwoods team made our day, the attention to detail was second to none.
From front of house to the team behind the scenes, everything and everyone was just so obliging.
The glasshouse is ideal for the wedding ceremony, and the garden room ideal for the reception, and the outdoor spaces ideal for all photo opportunities.
Our wedding breakfast was delicious, from starters to deserts was absolutely sublime, all our guests commented on the quality of the food.
Plenty of variety in the bar also, lots of beers and lagers and spirits available.
We had all of the 6 rooms available upstairs and all the guests that stayed were very pleased with them. We had the bridal suite obviously, and it's massive, and has its own balcony.
All in all a terrific venue to have your wedding, we couldn't fault it at all.
Just a special mention to Jasmine, Wendy, and Lisa. Thanks ladies, you were all fantastic.

Since our children have now all left home my husband and I like to go out to have Sunday roast. We try a different venue every Sunday and this week even with lockdown we managed to still have a takeaway Roast beef with all the trimmings!!
It was absolutely delicious, hot, plentiful and great value for money, we honestly couldn’t fault it the best we’ve had.
As always the service was excellent, Special thanks to Craig for my birthday desert.
We look forward to next Sunday’s Roast from Wickwoods.

From the first enquiry call it was clear how well run Wickwoods is. The events team put together an entire package tailored proposal, full of details and all the bits that suddenly come as extras when you realise they haven't been included from the start. As a result we knew exactly what the event would cost from the end of the first conversation.

The glass dining room is simply stunning and sets a lovely tone for grown events beyond just weddings.

We were hosting an 80th Birthday for 50 guests. We started with a drinks reception with canapés and then continued with a six course meal. We also had two bands playing at differing points in the evening. We found our own performers but Wickwoods were also able to make recommendations. Wickwoods liaised with both bands to ensure they new what to expect and had everything we needed. Both bands commented to me that they have never worked at such a well managed venue.

The food was beautifully presented and served impressively quickly. Usually my experience has been that top table have finished their food while the last table is still waiting to be served. Not at Wickwoods! Their highly efficient waiting team had all tables served each course very quickly.

Every dealing with Wickwoods was efficient and well managed. All the staff were bright and smiley and highly professional without being aloof.

The event was executed exactly as promised and staying over the night was well worth it as they serve one of the best breakfasts you could ask for.

Pricing was also entirely reasonable for an event of this nature.
