The Dunes at Arniston is the perfect base for beach-friendly romantic getaways, family holidays and business breakaways. We are conveniently situated immediately before Arniston historic seaside village in the Overberg amid fynbos-rich landscape and sandy dunes. At your home-away-from-home escape, we provide comfortable accommodation and top facilities for private guests, weddings, special occasions and business functions. Our friendly staff is on hand and eager to make your stay with us as memorable as possible. Every year, visitors from all over the globe flock to these parts to see the southernmost tip of Africa where the two oceans meet at Cape Agulhus. Still, while it is a popular holiday destination, Arniston and surrounds has retained the legendary natural beauty and tranquil crowd-less charm for which it is well known.

We stayed over at The Dunes and received a warm welcome by the friendly reception staff. We were shown the dining area as well as the pool area as i wanted to know where to swim. We stayed over in the standard rooms, please note these don't have a kitchenette, however the rooms has a wash up basin. However the rooms are spacious and clean and comfortable. The nights we stayed over was a bit cold and the rooms had no air-conditioner or heaters, maybe they can include these on the cold nights. The breakfast was excellent and the dinners was impressively delightful. Many thanks to Mercia and Mary for making us feel extra welcome.

We stayed at The Dunes from 12-14 March 2021 & found it very pleasant . The Hotel is about 2km from the main town & beaches. Stayed in a luxury room which had a lounge area with a fridge & tv which had most of the DSTV channels. Very nice big bathroom with a sizeable shower. Stayed in room 79 which was on the 1st floor & had some views over the fynbos . The service throughout was excellent , from the welcome at reception to the dining area. We had breakfast , lunch & dinner . Breakfast is included . The food was very good and the portions very generous at reasonable prices. Dining area overlooks a very big pool & grass area. There is a steam room & gym. The gym equipment needs attention & replacing hence the 4 rating as we enjoy our gym.

The Waenhuis Cliff & beach area also only 2km away , a few nice trails & sand dunes to climb. There is a cave which can only be reached at low tide , definately worth the trip. Wear some shoes /slops that may get wet but great views & photo opportunities. The rock formations are spectacular.

Struisbaai & Cape Agulhas - southern most tip of Africa within an hour's drive , Bredasdorp & Napier even closer .

The Dunes is a nice base to operate from , quiet , good value

The bathroom had no showerhead. Shift me to another room and then again, they replaced the showerhead and one was lying in the bathroom, it did not get removed in the time I was a guest. Some guest complaint about no water in their rooms as well, as we attended the same seminar. The milk in the fridge was sour, the fridge was placed awkwardly in a cupboard, your fingers got the brunt of it. no telephone in the room to contact front desk, you had to walk up and down with your complaints, some of the guest did not get juice as there was not enough juice for breakfast. The staff was not helpful either, just pulled up their shoulders. Overall I will rate the dunes extremely low especially for the price paid. I would not recommend The Dunes

We found staff very friendly and helpful, but the family 2 bedroom apartment we stayed in needs attention, no aircon, no fan, we found kitchen shabby and old and utensils in drawer were not clean. Rooms desperately need a revamp. But we found location good and close to Arniston.

Die Herberg is more of a conference centre - in fact is ideally suited for this. We stayed there for a long weekend using a voucher. The accommodation is rooms in small flatlets with seperate bathrooms - so not very cosy but the bed and bedding were comfy and everything was clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was generous and tasty. If you would like to holiday in the Arniston area with your family it will be a cheaper option than the hotel in Arniston. It has a huge swimming pool and garden area, gym and sauna. Definitely not a romantic getaway though.

Excellent rooms and excellent service. Best place for breakaways over weekends. Lowest room rates with excellent breakfast clost to Arniston. Best facility for conferences, weddings and adversities. A five star experience at a affordable rate. See you there.

The rooms were okay, just standard abd without love and atmosphere !! The kitchen is extremely bad ! The location is 5 min away from the sea but they serve deep fried calamari ! The whole food isn‘t fresh ! The meat is too much done despite ordering medium rare ! I wouldn‘t recommend this „hotel“ to anyone !!!!

The picture in the advert and the description "at Arniston" is misleading - it is far from Arniston but overall the accommodation is great for conferences.
It could also have a microwave of sort in the rooms.
The staff, food and rooms were excellent

We needed to stay at this property as it was close to our wedding venue. The reception and waiting staff were pleasant and welcoming, the reception area itself bleak and cold. Room 77 is truly flawed and NOT a luxury room at all! The shower door does not close. The corner of the tiling behind the bathroom door still has brown tape in places. The top window in the bedroom is cracked and the bed linen frayed. Last but not least, we had two cockroaches in our lounge. Will we return? Most certainly not! P.S. barcode on the door? Very puzzling? Perhaps it has something to do with Denel and Public works?
